[Editor’s note: The following contains spoilers for “The Marvels.”]
“The Goose is loose!” That’s something I’d like to think was said by one or more of Nick Fury’s crew members upon discovering that Captain Marvel’s frisky feline companion had been furiously birthing up a storm while aboard their ship in “The Marvels.”
The film unofficially known as “Captain Marvel 2” will go down in history as “the one with all the kittens in space.” IndieWire’s Kate Erbland gave the film a “C-“ in her review, accurately citing the surprise arrival of Goose’s dozens of babies in the fourth act as “the single most bonkers set piece the MCU has ever churned out,” but still not enough to save the movie from being, at best, mid.
For Marvel’s undying fanbase, and they are legion, the scene is ostensibly a slam-dunk explosion of cute capitalizing on centuries of humanity’s unrelenting obsession with cats.

Warner Bros. Discovery will rebrand its kids’ TV channel Boomerang to Cartoonito in Southeast Asia, Taiwan and Hong Kong, with effect from July 28.
The company said that the “switch is a result of positive feedback to the Cartoonito-branded block on Boomerang and Cartoon Network launched in 2022, and is focused on being more inclusive to pre-school aged viewers.”
Sources close to the company explained that the move is “part of a big regional and global commitment by Wbd to preschool content.” It follows Cartoonito rebrands and launches in other international territories including Emea and LatAm.
As a full regional channel offering, Cartoonito will introduce a new generation to a diverse slate of original series and franchises. Modern preschool adaptations that support children’s potential include fan-favourite franchises such as “Batwheels” and “Bugs Bunny Builders.”
Boomerang favourites including “Tom & Jerry,” “Baby Looney Tunes,” “Alice & Lewis,” “Pat the Dog” and “Grizzy and the Lemmings...

A new year has arrived but Amazon Prime is looking to the past.
That’s not a bad thing mind you, as for its list of new releases in January 2021, Amazon is bringing back some classic movies and TV shows for its host of subscribers. We’ll get to the Amazon originals in a moment but for now, feast your eyes on January’s impressive library additions for the streamer.
Jan. 1 marks the arrival of all eight seasons of Dexter…roughly four and a half of which are great! Dexter will be receiving its own Michael C. Hall-approved revival later this year and thanks to Amazon you can catch up with the first run again. Speaking of show’s with disappointing conclusions, all nine seasons of How I Met Your Mother will come to Amazon on Jan. 19. Some movies of note arriving on Jan. 1 include Dr. Strangelove, The Truman Show,...

Hurricane Sandy has come and gone, as has Mitt Romney. But you know what lasts forever? Clickables — morsels of weird, wonderful, webby goodness that don’t let anything get in their way, including hurricanes, electricity outages, and Joe Biden. Needless to say, between all the zeitgeist-crushing topics dominating water-cooler conversation over the past week, it was a challenge to get a word in edgewise, at least on YouTube. But, fear not: We’ve done the job for you. This week’s ten best viral videos bring us burgers in space, Barack’s best dub, and Baby Looney Tunes making a comeback, now with attitude.

Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck are back in a new series called The Looney Tunes Show premiering this May on Cartoon Network. Instead of Bugs living underground or Daffy hanging out at his favorite pond, the two have taken to suburban life.
New Looney Tunes cartoons are nothing new. Every so often, Warner Bros brings back its beloved franchise, readapted for a new, more contemporary audience. The most notable adaptation was the 1990 Tiny Toon Adventure series. This series spearheaded a new generation of Looney Tunes protégés learning about Toon life at Acme Looniversity. The series captured the heart and soul of the original cartoon, while keeping the characters and topics relevant to younger audiences. It also gave us Pinky and the Brain and the Animaniacs spinoff. However, several other adaptations, like Baby Looney Tunes and a slew of newer made for DVD movies and one-off segments, were not so memorable.

Nostalgic news of the day: That Polaroid instant camera your parents gave you for your seventh birthday might not be as obsolete as you thought. If you haven't gone off and sold it on ebay yet (Yea, I suck…), the Impossible Project has re-created the film used in the thought-to-be-useless machines. The film goes on sale starting Thursday, and I'm elated. I plan on stealing my sister's camera and claiming it was mine all along. (Shhhh, don't tell.) I have to say that I was quite the master with these cameras – and not in a hipster way. I was seven years old,...
