Jon Bernthal, known for his tough on-screen roles, admitted he wept after leaving the ABC post-apocalyptic drama The Walking Dead. Throughout its run, the show featured a variety of characters, including Bernthal’s unstable, merciless, and lovestruck Shane Walsh, a character who appeared in the first two seasons before being killed by Rick Grimes.

Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny are teaming up in the streaming wars. Disney recently announced a partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery in a new streaming bundle that adds Disney+ and Hulu to the Max streaming service. This has also led to counter bundles from competitors Netflix, Comcast, and Apple. The lines are being drawn in this next phase of streaming.
However, one group is very unhappy with the recent announcement. The Parents Television and Media Council (PTC) has expressed its disdain for Disney associating itself with Max, a service that features multiple films and shows aimed at older audiences, such as Game of Thrones, with its violence and nudity.
In their eyes, they see this deal, and I am not exaggerating, as if Disney was adding pornography to the platform. While Hulu having movies like Poor Things (which is very graphic in terms of its sexual depictions on screen) was apparently okay,...

We've known for some time now that 2024 is something of a recalibration year for the Marvel Cinematic Universe after a rough past year for the blockbuster franchise. But with Wolverine & Deadpool just weeks away and X-Men '97 keeping the Marvel flag flying high on Disney+ right now, plans for Kevin Feige and co's big comeback are already well underway. And, during an announcement-laden Disney Upfront presentation yesterday, we got some big release updates for the studio's upcoming slate of Disney+ series.
Firstly, the House of Mouse — not Harkness — confirmed that they've been leading fans a merry dance with the titling of their upcoming WandaVision spin-off series, centred around everyone's favourite badass (and just plain bad) witch. It's not Agatha: House Of Harkness, The Coven Of Chaos, The Darkhold Diaries, or in fact The Lying Witch With Great Wardrobe. Turns out it was Agatha All Along, well, all along — cheeky devils!

One of the biggest upcoming MCU releases is most certainly ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ The movie marks several big things. It’s Deadpool’s first foray into the MCU and also the only MCU movie to be released in 2024, in the hopes of restoring at least some of the faith that the fans of the franchise lost in the last several years due to a string of several poorly received movies.
The recently released trailer also confirmed that several old faces from the ‘Deadpool’ and Fox’s ‘X-Men’ franchises are going to be making a return.
According to the latest rounds of rumors, and one synopsis, ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ won’t reference only old Fox’s ‘X-Men,’ it’s also going to revisit key moments from phases 1-4 and it’s going to reference The Punisher.

Tom Holland is arguably the most popular star of his contemporaries due to his iconic role as Spider-Man in the MCU. The actor has played the character in various MCU films, including a hugely successful solo trilogy. Holland has also stepped out of blockbuster franchises and dabbled into various dramatic films that displayed his range as an actor.
Tom Holland as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home
One of them was the 2017 medieval drama film Pilgrimage. Holland starred opposite fellow Marvel star Jon Bernthal. During one of the intense scenes in the film, Holland wanted to go full method and requested Bernthal to rough him up. This resulted in a surprising twist of events that helped him later during the shoot.

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ is the hottest upcoming MCU show. The show will finally merge Daredevil completely with the MCU and will serve kind of like a soft reboot of the character. The story is in large part unknown. We know that Murdock will be starting a new law firm, and will along the way cross paths with Wilson Fisk, as he is running for the mayor of New York.
The show has been through a lot over the course of development, including being almost completely scrapped at the point where more than half of the episodes were already filmed. The show took on a new direction following the resolution of the SAG-AFTRA strike with plenty of actors from Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’ reprising their roles. Elden Henson’s Foggy and Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen are going to make a grand return to the show, as well as Bernthal’s Punisher.

Attention: The Following Report Is A Rumor. Please Take The Following Story With A Grain Of Salt.
The return of Charlie Cox as Daredevil has been met with much positivity from fans. The Marvel Netflix shows were fairly popular with five standalone shows with a crossover series The Defenders. Initially not fitting into Marvel’s plans the shows are now being integrated into MCU canon.
Following Cox’s return, there has been much speculation as to who may be next in returning to the world of Marvel. One of the most vocal of those is actor Finn Jones who portrayed Danny Rand, aka Iron Fist. He felt that he wasn’t able to give the character justice and wished for the chance to do so.

Rob Zombie has said that for every one film project of his that moves forward, there are five potential projects that fall by the wayside. We haven’t heard of quite that many unmade Rob Zombie movies, but we have heard of several over the years that never got off the ground… and unfortunately, most of them sounded pretty interesting. A little over a year ago, Zombie had said he didn’t know what his next movie is going to be, but he did know what it’s not going to be: he won’t be continuing his Firefly franchise, and he doesn’t want to make a sequel to The Munsters (which was poorly received). So while he figures out his next cinematic move, we we have put together a list of Rob Zombie Movies We Want To See!

Well, this is a bummer. The great Louis Gossett Jr., star of An Officer and a Gentleman, Roots, Diggstown, Jaws 3D, Iron Eagle, and so many more classics, has died at age 87. According to his obit in THR, no cause of death was immediately revealed, but the actor was treated for prostate cancer in 2010, and also battled Covid-19 back in 2020.
If you grew up in the eighties and nineties, Louis Gossett Jr was one of those faces you saw everywhere. He was in high demand as a character actor, winning an Oscar for playing Richard Gere’s tough but compassionate drill instructor in An Officer and a Gentleman. If you haven’t seen that movie in a while or remember it as a sappy romantic drama, I’d urge you to watch it again. Jon Bernthal’s appearance on Hot Ones certainly made for one of the most iconic episodes of the beloved talk show. The actor started by making it explicitly clear that he had a horrible spice tolerance, and ended with him having tears in his eyes and strings of curses leaving his mouth. One can imagine there to be nothing worse in that entire experience than having the final bite of the spiciest wing.

The boys are going out of town — but just for a while. While performing a secret acoustic show in Los Angeles on Thursday, boygenius announced they’re going on hiatus.
“This is our last show, and we’re feeling it,” Lucy Dacus told the crowd at the Smell, later noting that the closer “Not Strong Enough” would be their last song. Julien Baker then corrected, “Not ever.” Fan accounts spread the news on social media, but Rolling Stone has received official confirmation of the band’s hiatus.

Marvel Studios is starting out 2024 on a sturdy footing as it begins to refocus and rebuild its TV shows.
Coming off the strong opening of Echo, its crime series centered on Indigenous and deaf anti-heroine Maya Lopez, Marvel next turns its attention to Daredevil: Born Again, which restarts production Monday after a lengthy hiatus.
Philip Silvera, who acted as stunt and fight coordinator on the Netflix version of Daredevil that ran in the mid-2010s, has returned to the fold to act as stunt coordinator and second unit director for the new series.
His hiring is the latest example of the retooling Born Again underwent as it was changed from a legal procedural to something that aims to harken back to the gritty and violent tone of that first well-regarded series. It also reaffirms the show’s focus on more street-level heroics and less on heavy (and costly) visual effects.

Ah, Netflix’s Daredevil. We didn’t know how good we had it.
We all thrilled to the series’ first season, with its violent actions and powerful performances from Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, but the second season got too muddled with the Punisher and Elektra, and then Netflix diluted the Marvel shows with seasons that went on too long and the boring crossover Defenders. Daredevil‘s third season returned the show to its former glory, but by that time, too many viewers had fallen off.
So when Cox’s Matt caught a brick in Spider-Man: No Way Home and when D’Onofrio’s Fisk lumbered into the final episode of Hawkeye, fans got excited. In this era of mediocre Marvel entries, Daredevil and Kingpin would bring a much-needed edge back to the MCU. Daredevil’s one-episode...

Disney’s Bob Iger recently emphasized the importance of prioritizing quality over quantity in a statement. The decline in the quality of recent MCU projects and Disney films is attributed to the rapid release of content, not superhero fatigue. In 2023, Disney might end the year without a billion-dollar movie for the first time since 2014 (excluding pandemic years).
Marvel Studios faced a setback with ‘The Marvels,’ the most recent MCU release, marking the first MCU film to fall below the $100 million mark domestically. Despite being one of the Studio’s most expensive superhero movies, it underperformed. The decline in quality extends to Disney+ shows, with the exception of ‘Loki’ Season 2, hailed as a masterpiece.
With over 20 projects on the release schedule, some in post-production and others affected by the SAG-AFTRA strike, the MCU is reassessing its strategy. Rumors suggest that in 2024, the Studio might release only ‘Deadpool 3,’ considering its significance...

Sylvester Stallone helped Dolph Lundgren achieve action star status when he cast him in Rocky IV. But action films changed a bit over the years thanks to features like The Bourne trilogy. Lundgren seemed to feel this could be both a positive and a negative.
What Dolph Lundgren felt about Matt Damon’s ‘Bourne’ movies Dolph Lundgren | Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic
Lundgren has starred in his own fair share of action movies. He starred in such features as 1989’s The Punisher and Universal Soldier, and held a certain fondness for action stars in the 80s. To him, the action heroes of yesterday had the physique to earn their roles more so than the action stars of today.

Welcome to Sales to Astonish, a new column in association with comics retailer The Unreality Store, in which Matthew De Monti brings us news on comic sales and the general moves in the comic market over the past month or so!
Having written this column for over a year now I am starting to notice some distinctive trends in my monthly activity throughout the year. I had touched on elements of this in previous instalments but in a nutshell the trends can be defined as simply as this:
Busy months – January, March, May, October, November & December Busy days – Monday & Thursday Busiest hours – 6-8am Thursday
It will come as no surprise to regular readers that the busiest hours in the week immediately follow the release of new stock in the store on a Thursday. At a guess I would say that Monday is busy because people casually browse the website...

Comicbook writer Garth Ennis, best known for series such as “Preacher” and “The Boys,” and his nine-year stint at Marvel, is a guest of this week’s Lucca Comics & Games. Ennis, whose current work includes comedy Barbarian strip “Babs,” and the latest instalments of the “Battle Action” and “Punisher” series, spoke about his new book “Partisan,” as well as diverse topics including religion and war.
“[In ‘Partisan’], Steve [Epting] and I explored a similar territory to that of ‘Sara.’ It’s about a woman who finds herself caught in the fighting between Russian partisans and the German invaders in Ukraine from 1942 onwards,” Ennis said.
“Our heroine, with her husband having been called up by the army, finds herself raising two kids alone. Caught in this conflict, she joins the partisans for no other reason than keeping her kids alive. She finds herself doing the most extreme things, purely in the interest of her family.

The Man Without Fear is getting ever nearer to his TV comeback: Marvel Studios has enlisted a new showrunner and two new directors for Daredevil: Born Again, a reboot of Netflix’s Marvel Television series Daredevil. Dario Scardapane, an alum of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan and the Marvel Television series The Punisher, is the Disney+ series’ new showrunner, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead — who went from teaming up on indie thrillers to helming episodes of Loki Season 2 — will co-direct the remaining episodes of season 1, the outlet adds. Marvel Studios announced Daredevil: Born Again in July 2022, more than three years after Netflix canceled Daredevil following a three-season run. The reboot brings Charlie Cox back to play the title character, a blind Hell’s Kitchen lawyer by day and a superhero by night, while Vincent D’Onofrio reprises his part as the villain Kingpin. Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again has rounded out its revamped creative team with a new showrunner and directors. Dario Scardapane has been tapped as showrunner and directing team Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (Loki) are set to direct the Charlie Cox series, sources confirm to Deadline.
The series has been revamping its creative team after determining the show wasn’t working as is. Head scribes Chris Ord and Matt Corman and episodic directors were let go, but remain EPs on the two-season series. Daredevil, which first aired on Netflix, follows Cox as Matt Murdock, a blind attorney turned crimefighting superhero.
Less than half of the series’ 18 episodes were shot. Marvel plans to keep some footage though the series will pivot from being a procedural show to having a more serialized focus. Scardapone will write the new episodes, incorporating what was already shot, we’re told.

“Daredevil: Born Again” has found its new creative team.
Dario Scardapane, who wrote and executive produced on Netflix’s Marvel series “The Punisher,” will serve as the showrunner for the new “Daredevil” show, after previous head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman exited amid a major creative overhaul. Ord and Corman will still be credited as executive producers.
Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead — who directed on Marvel’s “Moon Knight” and are the lead directors on Season 2 of “Loki” — will step in to direct the rest of the first season of “Daredevil: Born Again.” As part of the show’s creative overhaul, Marvel released the previously hired directors for Season 1 after production shut down amid the SAG-AFTRA strike. Elements of the material that were already shot will be incorporated into the series, but the show overall is meant to head in a new direction.

Once upon a time, superhero aficionados had to get their fix in the pages of comic books. On rare occasions, the adventures of those heroes were taken to the screen, with characters like Captain America and Batman starring in serialized adventures as early as the 1940s. The colorful camp of the "Batman" TV series in the '60s brought comic books to new mainstream popularity, setting the stage for the rise of blockbuster comic book movies in the late 20th century. Now, multiplexes are bursting with superhero movies, a genre that has grown to become one of Hollywood's most lucrative; in fact, four of the top 10 highest-grossing movies of all time have their roots in the pages of comics.
Of course, hit films inevitably breed sequels, and films featuring Iron Man, Spider-Man, Ant-Man, Superman, Batman and various other super-powered types with "man" in their names have habitually returned for various big-screen adventures.

Daredevil: Born Again star Vincent D'Onofrio addressed recent troubling reports about the MCU and his upcoming Disney+ series.
A new report revealed major troubles behind the scenes of Daredevil: Born Again amid a production shutdown thanks to the Hollywood strikes. Marvel Studios reportedly wasn't fond of the legal procedural direction of the 18-episode show and opted to fire head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman.
The Disney+ Daredevil reboot will bring back Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock, Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin, and Jon Bernthal's Punisher. Originally set for a Spring 2024 premiere but delayed past that, Born Again has been left searching for new creatives to lead the way behind the camera.

"Daredevil: Born Again" is in big trouble. The highly anticipated Marvel Studios show, which promises to bring back The Devil of Hell's Kitchen (and supposedly also Punisher), is undergoing a huge revamp. According to The Hollywood Reporter, less than half of the show's 18 episodes had been shot by the time "Born Again" paused production during the writers' strike, but the footage available made Kevin Feige and other Marvel executives reconsider the entire project.
And so, late last month, Marvel quietly fired head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman and let go of the directors for the remaining episodes while they head back to square one. Marvel is now looking for new writers and directors. According to THR, Ord and Corman's take was more of "a legal procedural that did not resemble the Netflix version, known for its action and violence." Steven DeKnight, who served as the showrunner on the first season of Netflix’s “Daredevil,” recently took to social media to criticize Disney for running a scam with its upcoming reboot series “Daredevil: Born Again” (via Entertainment Weekly). The 18-episode series features the returns of Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio and Jon Bernthal, who starred on the original Netflix series as Daredevil, Kingpin and Punisher, respectively.
“It’s an old Disney scam where they slightly rename a series to reset contract terms back to first season,” DeKnight wrote on X/Twitter. “Needs to be addressed by all the guilds/unions and crushed!”
“From what I understand, I’m not going to see a penny from ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ because they added the ‘Born Again’ and can claim it’s a completely different show,” he explained. “You know, with the exact same two lead actors (who I love!) playing Daredevil and Fisk.

With last year’s Laurel Hell, Mitski elaborated on the eclectic, ’80s-influenced sounds of 2018’s Be the Cowboy, synthesizing the lessons she’d learned from her earlier work about multi-instrumental songwriting and thematic cohesiveness. “According to that pattern,” Mitski told Apple Music at the time, “the next thing I’ll do will be completely different.” Indeed, her seventh album, The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We, delivers on that promise, adapting her poignant lyricism to the acoustic strings and traditionally rural setting of country music.
As always, Mitski’s music aches with longing, and by leaning into a bleak vision of the heartland, she unlocks a gothic sense of dread. “Bug Like an Angel” opens the album with the gory image of a bug stuck to the bottom of a glass. When people think of Frank Castle on the silver screen, actors like Jon Bernthal and Dolph Lundgren come to mind. However, the late Ray Stevenson‘s portrayal in Lexi Alexander’s 2008 crime-drama Punisher: War Zone hides in the shadows of the character’s cinematic history. This article contains spoilers for Ahsoka episodes 1 and 2.
It’s taken a while, but more than five years after the credits rolled on Star Wars Rebels, we’re finally getting some payoff for its cliffhanger ending in Dave Filoni’s Ahsoka on Disney+. The Rebels creator is effectively giving us a live-action season 5, while also gifting fans the long-awaited solo series for the talented Togruta.
Alongside Rosario Dawson taking the lead as Ahsoka, a mix of new and returning faces sees Rebels alumni David Tennant and Lars Mikkelsen reprise their roles, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Natasha Liu Bordizzo take over from previous voice actors, and the likes of Ivanna Sakhno and Ray Stevenson playing brand-new roles. Sadly for Stevenson, he didn’t get to see the breakout reaction to Baylan Skoll.
Ray Stevenson tragically passed away on May 21, 2023, just four days before his 59th birthday. No cause of death has been revealed,...

This story about Dearbhla Walsh and “Bad Sisters” first appeared in the Down to the Wire: Drama and Limited Series issue of TheWrap’s awards magazine.
The first time director Dearbhla Walsh met Sharon Horgan, it was to discuss Walsh directing the first episode of Horgan’s horror-comedy series “Shining Vale.” But in that conversation, the comic actress and writer also mentioned a different project that really piqued Walsh’s interest.
“She said, ‘I have this other show that I think you’d love,’” Walsh said. “‘It’s about five Irish sisters who plot to murder their brother-in-law.’ And I said, ‘You had me at five Irish sisters, which means we have to shoot in Ireland. And murdering their brother-in-law — what’s not to love?’”
