The movie was in Mandarin, not Cantonese
The literal translation of the title of this movie is: Arrests in the Deep Mountain.
There is some confusion here about the language, because this movie was originally released in Mandarin, the official language of China, not the local dialect Cantonese.
The movie is based on the true story that really happened, and it was a great irony when the movie is compared to what happened in real life years later, during the Cultural Revolution:
Both the film crew, including everyone who worked for the film, and the original figures in the real life that the characters were based were persecuted and sent to labor camps, and even more ironic, the labor camp was at the exact location where the real thing happened and where the film was shot.
