Prime Video’s big February drop is Mr. & Mrs. Smith! No, not the 2005 Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie action movie, but a new TV series kinda based on it starring Donald Glover and Maya Erskine. The set up for the show version? Glover and Erskine are two strangers who both get jobs at a shady spy agency and are asked to get married so that they can pretend to be a couple undercover, but things get more complicated when they start falling in love for real. Uh oh!
If you’re in the mood for a movie or two this month, you can also check out the Prime debuts of Strays, Bottoms, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. In the meantime, here’s everything coming to Amazon Prime Video and Freevee this month. Amazon Originals are accompanied by an asterisk!

Another year, and another daunting challenge to keep up with the number of streaming options available from the big online players. And to mark January 1st, there’s some new content to enjoy on the likes of Netflix, Disney Plus and HBO Max, among others, as well as several notable changes in licensing agreements that may affect how you can watch your favorite shows.
On Netflix, the biggest fresh release is the third season of Cobra Kai, which has been a hit for the service since making the move from YouTube. Critics are already dishing out praise for the latest block of episodes of The Karate Kid spinoff, which had its premiere date bumped up by a week. Other highlights, meanwhile, include Netflix documentary The Minimalists: Less Is Now, and a lot of licensed movies ranging from Bonnie and Clyde to Goodfellas.

The first of the month is typically when the variety of streaming services on offer bolster their respective libraries with a mixture of original and pre-existing content, freshening things up for subscribers in the process. January 1st also happens to be the first day of 2021, though, so people might be expecting a little more than just a handful of new additions, and HBO Max are stepping up to the plate in a big way.
Of course, Wonder Woman 1984 is set to entice millions to sign up for Warner Bros.’ platform, especially when the entire slate of theatrical releases are also heading to the streaming site on the same day that they hit the big screen. And keen to capitalize on the inevitable influx of new customers, HBO Max is adding a massive amount of film and television titles on January 1st, with the onslaught set to continue over the next 30 days.

This week, Entourage fans get to watch the boys bring their brand of Hollywood bro-ishness to the big screen, nearly four years after the TV series aired its final episode. Of course, it's far from the first cinematic adaptation of a TV series, but in this age of reboot upon reboot, it's notable that this one has migrated to the silver screen intact – it's a movie "sequel" featuring the same actors and characters as the original TV show.
Here's a short history of the many other TV shows that have continued their stories in the form of theatrical films.

This article originally appeared in If Magazine #148 (Aug-Sept 2012). Since Storm Surfers 3D was released on August 14, it has become the eighth highest grossing local feature documentary of all time.
The tight-knit group behind Storm Surfers saw the production of a 3D feature film as a necessary step in their quest to create a truly international brand and they paid for it, in part, by leveraging the interest of 3D television channel operators.
.The benefit of using television pre-sales to finance the feature and other properties is that it is non-recoupable finance and the producer ends up with a bigger equity position,. said Marcus Gillezeau, who produced the latest chapter in the Storm Surfers franchise with life and business partner Ellenor Cox.
"Television pre-sales are licenses, so they don't take an equity position in the finance package whereas theatrical distributors or sales agents provide a minimum guarantee (Mg) which is recouped in first position.

Famed adventurer, environmentalist and TV personality Steve Irwin, known around the world as the "Crocodile Hunter," was killed Monday by a stingray during a diving expedition off the coast of Queensland, Australia; he was 44. According to initial reports, Irwin had been filming a documentary on the Great Barrier Reef, and was diving near Low Isles Reef, about 1,260 miles north of Queensland capital Brisbane. Irwin was felled by a stingray barb through his chest, and his crew immediately called authorities for medical treatment, but Irwin was dead before an emergency helicopter arrived on the scene. The son of naturalists, Irwin spent his whole life around animals, and was raised at the Queensland Reptile and Fauna Park. He quickly grew into an animal expert, with a specialty in reptiles, and was catching crocodiles by the age of 9; later, he spearheaded Australia's crocodile relocation program, capturing the animals from populated areas and either returning them to their natural environment or raising them in the Queensland Park. In 1991, Irwin took over the running of the park, which was renamed the Australian Zoo (and would become a major tourist destination), and a year later he married his wife Terri, with whom he would have two children. The footage from their crocodile-trapping honeymoon was later fashioned into the first episode of his TV series Crocodile Hunter, and Irwin was catapulted to instant worldwide fame, with his enthusiastic nature, fearless animal acumen, and his trademark phrase, "Crikey!" Irwin turned his television success into a feature film, 2002's The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course, and in addition to his reptile passions, was an avid promoter of Australian tourism, including the recent Australia-Los Angeles campaign "G'Day LA!" In 2004, Irwin suffered one of his few bouts of negative publicity, when he fed a crocodile with one hand while holding his infant son with the other.
