Exclusive: Danny Dyer’s range is continuing to expand as the Football Factory star lands himself a Channel 4 documentary series exploring modern masculinity.
Danny Dyer: How To Be A Man will see the EastEnders alum delve deep into the evolving landscape of masculinity. At a time when people are labeling masculinity “toxic,” Dyer, who made his name in a string of movies playing traditional “hard men” and also hosted Danny Dyer’s Deadliest Men for Bravo, will ask people across Britain what they think it means to be a man in our society, and what the future is for the male identity.
The series from Whitworth Media will feature interviews with a politician, psychologists, a mental health expert, a fitness expert, a sex therapist, an influencer, male victims of domestic abuse, and members of the Brighton Gay Men’s Chorus to offer a range of voices and perspectives on this complex subject.

In addition to starring in many British films, Vinnie Jones ventured into the superhero genre with Stephen Amell’s Arrow. The actor played Danny Brickwell in the show. However, it was not the only superhero project that the actor participated in. Before Arrow, Jones was in Brett’s Ratner’s X-Men: The Last Stand.
Vinnie Jones as Danny Brickwell in Arrow
The actor played Juggernaut and had a pivotal role in the film. With the upcoming Deadpool movie bringing back many X-Men characters, some fans wondered whether he would also come back. Jones surprisingly revealed that he was asked to cameo in the film. However, he rejected the offer as he did not want to relive the problems that he faced back when he played the character.

The Mean Machine is getting back on the field… again. Deadline reports that Paramount Pictures are developing another remake of The Longest Yard.
The 1974 original was a prison sports comedy starring Burt Reynolds as Paul “Wrecking” Crewe, a former NFL star who is sentenced to 18 months in Citrus State Prison, where he recruits a group of prisoners to play football against the guards. The film included a number of real-life football stars, including Ray Nitschke of the Green Bay Packers. The 2005 remake amped up the comedy and starred Adam Sandler in the role of the wash-up quarterback, who agrees to assemble a prison team in exchange for a reduced sentence. Burt Reynolds appeared in the remake as the team’s coach.

If there is cinematic butt to be kicked, rest assured that Jason Statham will be at the front of the line. Since he burst onto the scene in Guy Ritchie’s Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels in 1998, he’s left a lot of broken bodies and wrecked cars in his wake. And when Expendables 4 rolls out on September 20, he will be nearing his 50th film, the lion’s share being unapologetic explosive action.
Statham makes movies with staying power. He’s made four Expendables films, three Transporters, two Mechanics (2011 and 2016), tw0 Cranks (2006 and 2009) and two Megs (2018 and 2023). Oh, yes, he also jumped into the Fast and Furious universe, making Furious 7 (2015), The Fate of the Furious (2017), Fast X (2023) and the spinoff Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw (2019), teaming with Dwayne Johnson.
As a leading man, his films have delivered $1.8 billion worldwide, according to The Numbers.

Los Angeles, Sept 2 (Ians) Actor-comedian Adam Sandler’s daughter got a lot of notoriety for her series ‘You are so not invited to my Bat Mitzvah’, (also called Yasnitmbm) despite the show’s high positive ratings due to audiences calling her role “a nepo kid’s privilege.”
In response to this, Adam Sandler has defended casting his daughters in starring roles alongside himself. Asked about the ‘nepo kid’ controversy, Sandler had admitted that while he cast his friends and family members, he doesn’t do it if he doesn’t see any potential in them.
Adding to his rebuttal of the argument, the series producer-director Sammi Cohen also chimed in and said, “Sandler has a reputation for making movies with his friends, and that’s something we all want to do. What I say is, he’s still making movies with his friends, but they’re his kids.”

Along with Roger Corman, Robert Aldrich seems to be the director most represented on Trailers from Hell. This prison-set anti-authoritarian football movie has similarities to The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner. Burt Reynolds, who also appeared in the 2005 Adam Sandler (!) remake, plays a violent anti-hero who makes us root for him against the corrupt establishment anyway, but Sandler in the remake is pretty much of a wimp. Remade in England as Mean Machine in 2001.

Since his debut in Guy Ritchie’s 1998 film Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, actor Jason Statham has emerged in the past few years as one of the leading action heroes currently working, with his popularity being proven by the fact that the Transporter series, which he headlined for the first three films, has gone on to a tv show adaptation and will be rebooted in theatres next weekend with The Transporter Refueled. That’s not the only action franchise Statham has headlined, however, as he has also been the leading man in the Crank films and been a part of the Expendables franchise and, more recently, the Fast and Furious franchise.
Action heroes often have to throw lots of punches onscreen, and Statham has been no exception in this regard. Now the youtube channel Burger Fiction has put together a compilation of the numerous punches Statham has thrown onscreen...

How do you rank perfection? Duncan has a go, as he lists the top 25 Jason Statham films...
For regular Den Of Geek readers, it will come as little surprise to see this list come round. We've chosen our favourite Statham films before, but such is the productivity of the great man, it was decided that a mere top ten was no longer large enough to contain his ever growing body of work. Last time I mentioned updating this piece to the man himself back in 2012 due to his insane workload, he cracked up and responded, “My productivity is overwhelming! 'Have a fucking day off!'”
Since this list has now expanded to encompass 25 of his movies, it seemed only right to include multiple sequels, with his big trio of action franchises all spawning some thoroughly entertaining fare worthy of mention, though I’ve tried to exclude the personal bias that...

Escape to Victory didn't set the world alight on its initial release in 1981, but as the decades have ticked on the film has firmly cemented itself as a cult favourite among fans of film and football.
Now, this potent mix of The Great Escape and underdog sports tale is in line for a remake with Edge of Tomorrow's Doug Liman at the helm. Liman will surely play it straight in the redo, but the original film featured a glorious mix of big movie stars of the day (Sylvester Stallone, Michael Caine), ageing football icons who'd taken a paycheque in the Us (Pelé) and Ipswich Town players (hey, they were big in the '80s!).
With that in mind, Digital Spy has picked a brand new Victory 2014 starting XI ready for 90 minutes of life-or-death football. Fyi, we're playing 4-4-2 - the Nazis might overrun us in midfield but we're old school!

Another year, another Superbowl. To celebrate the biggest sporting event of year for our friends across the pond, we've went through some of the best American Football movie to find some truly epic touchdowns. The Longest Yard (1974) What will come readily apparent going through this list is any touchdown worth its salt needs a healthy injection of slow motion, and is used to great effect here in this last minute touchdown where the cons that make up Mean Machine finally get one over the guards that made their life hell. Varsity Blues (1999) Billy Bob (Rob Lester) was really put through the emotional wringer in Varsity Blues, which is why you will be fist punching the air with joy when the offensive guard uses his massive bulk to surprise everyone and pull off this win. Invincible (2006) After a dismal performance at his first game for the Philadelphia Eagles, Vince Papale (Mark Wahlberg) turns his teams fortunes.

254: The number of combined victims of "Redemption" star Jason Statham ass-kickings over his film career, as we've tallied and created visual representation for exclusively here on NextMovie.
Brief Faq:
What constitutes an 'ass-kicking'? Glad you asked. It ranges from as harmless as "incapacitating a bad guy to question him" to as devastating as "stabbing a bad guy in the neck." (Stabbings were deemed allowable because Statham is usually doing something cool with his knives, like throwing them or spinning them in his hand for no reason.)
Do guns count? Of course not.

*We should also note that while it's not represented here, Statham also dreams about beating up four more people in "Mean Machine."
**Also, all of the numbers here represent men, with the exception of one: He beat up a lady in "Cellular."

Our only question– since in this video we see Dick Dastardly and Muttley in the Mean Machine #00, the Slag Brothers in the Bouldermobile, the Gruesome Twosome in the Creepy Coupe, the Red Max in the Crimson Haybailer, Penelope Pitstop in the Compact Pussycat, Sergeant Blast and Private Meekly in the Army Surplus Special, the Ant Hill Mob in the Bulletproof Bomb, and Peter Perfect in the Turbo Terrific, does this mean the man driving the Peugeot is actually Pat Pending Jr.? Is that a new Convert-a-Car?
And one final question: do the Slag Brothers insure through Geico?
* Okay, I watched The Fast And The Furious 5.

Given the news that American professional wrestling legend Dave Bautista (The Scorpion King 3: Battle For Redemption) has been cast as Drax in the forthcoming Marvel movie Guardians of the Galaxy, I thought I’d take a look at the ten best films to feature fighters turned actors. Check them out below:
Enter The Dragon (1973)
No list of fighters turned actor would be complete without Bruce Lee. Widely considered to be the best Martial Arts expert ever, he even invented his own Martial Arts philosophy – Jeet Kune Do. Before dying at the age of 32 Lee starred in a string of Kung Fu movies the best known of which is Enter The Dragon. What it lacks in plot and dialogue it more than makes up for in sheer power and energy.
The Mummy Returns (2001)
Dwayne Johnson found fame in the ring as ‘The Rock’ and proved to be a firm fan favourite.

Holy Drokk, Batman! A crossover between the bat vigilante and the fascistic future policeman? Unfortunately it’s not as good as it sounds and somehow John Wagner managed to get four books out of this unlikely team-up. “The Batman/Judge Dredd Collection” features all 4 crossover stories and, bizarrely, 1 crossover story featuring Dredd and Lobo.
But how do these two disparate characters cross paths? Well, in the first story, “Judgment on Gotham”, Judge Death gets his claws on a transdimensional belt, allowing him to jump dimensions from Mega City One to judge the living in Gotham. Batman stops him (of course) and afterwards touches the belt thus transporting him to Dredd’s stomping ground. The two tango before Dredd finally gets that Batman is a good guy and then they set off to stop Death and Mean Machine.
It’s not an amazing story but it’s more or less serviceable...

Led by their demented Pa, the Angel Gang consisted of Link, Junior, Fink, Ratfink and the Cyborg Mean Machine. Preferring hideous atrocities over simple murder the Angel Gang gained notoriety through several appearances in the Dredd story. The gang met their maker...

Raging Bull, Rocky, Hoop Dreams … there's no shortage of fantastic, inspirational sports movies. Pity no one told Team Gb
In little more than a fortnight, the athletes of Team Gb will finally put to use the months and years of pain and sweat and sacrifice that they've endured in order to represent their country at the Olympics. There, in a blaze of grit and sinew, they will compete against the greatest in their class from around the world to determine who will go down in sporting history as the best of the best. They personify humanity at its most pure, its most perfect, its most elite. They are better than you in almost every way imaginable.
I say "almost" because, crikey, do they like crappy films.

To celebrate the presence of Safe in UK cinemas, here’s an updated list of action hero Jason Statham’s very best films to date…
2011 was without doubt Jason Statham’s best year so far. He managed a grand total of four cinematic releases, though at one point that total was nearer six, until 13 seemed to vanish without a trace and Safe was sensibly pushed back to 2012, thus avoiding an overload of machismo greater than the average human could cope with.
As a result of his insane productivity, our long-standing list of his greatest movies so far needed an update, an event that will hopefully need to be done annually, as he continues to be one of the most productive actors working today.
Statham’s still sensibly chosen to concentrate on making action movies and thrillers all squarely aimed at an adult audience, providing a constant and much-needed fix for someone as bloodthirsty as me,...

Safe
Starring Jason Statham, Catherine Chan, Chris Sarandon
Directed by Boaz Yakin
Rated R
It's sad when I go into an action film starring Jason Statham that I automatically have extremely low expectations. The guy can act, just see any British film he's done (Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, Mean Machine, etc.), so I know he has some talent. That aside, I also think he has a knack for action, and rather enjoyed the Crank films (mindless, nonstop action can be quite the guilty pleasure).
So what I don't get is, why do you attempt to muddy the waters with a weak plot, sad dialogue that feels it has to explain everything (aside from some good one-liners), and basically rip off the plot from The Man From Nowhere? If you're going to go for action with Jason Statham, just let the man kick ass for 90 minutes, forget the plot.

American professional wrestling legend Dave Bautista (The Scorpion King 3: Battle For Redemption) heads an all-star cast in the gritty action-thriller House Of The Rising Sun, which is released on DVD on Monday. The film is based on the novel by formal federal agent Chuck Hustmyre and co-stars Amy Smart (Crank), Danny Trejo (Machete), Craig Fairbrass (The Bank Job) and Dominic Purcell (Prison Break).
To celebrate the launch of the film’s release, we have put together a list of films starring some of sport and fighting’s hardest men…
Enter The Dragon – 1973
No list of fighters turned actor would be complete without Bruce Lee. Widely considered to be the best Martial Arts expert ever, he even invented his own Martial Arts philosophy – Jeet Kune Do. Before dying at the age of 32 Lee starred in a string of Kung Fu movies the best known of which is Enter The Dragon.

With Super Bowl Sunday fast approaching, it’s time to get a little NFL-centric.
The Super Bowl is not just about splendid TV spots for upcoming cinema releases, there is a game to be played too. Many of us on this side of the North Atlantic rather look down our noses at American Football. Some dismiss it as rugby for softies (the “too much padding” argument), others as too stop-start (the “not as fluid as proper football” argument), others as too convoluted (the “I don’t really understand what’s happening here” argument).
For what my opinion is worth (please don’t tell me how little that is, I really am quite delicate) I think American Football is hugely entertaining and easily comprehensible, but more than that, the intricate choreography of its set-piece plays is so much better suited to cinema than either rugby or normal football.
Disagree? Tell me...

They may not be household names like their A-list colleagues, but the actors on this list have appeared in some of our all-time favourite geek movies...
Some actors dabble in sci-fi; others dip their toe into fantasy; some may even make an appearance in the odd horror film - all before returning to the safety of the genres in which they feel more comfortable - perhaps a nice, award-chasing period drama, or a well-paid romantic comedy.
A-listers may see the geeky films that we on this site enjoy and celebrate as fun little side-projects, but there are actors out there who commit full-time to these types of movies. It is high time, therefore, that we credited these individuals with the recognition they deserve.
Besides the stipulation that, in order to be included, an actor had to still be alive and working today, there were no strict criteria that had to...

As X-Men: First Class gets its home release, James takes a look back over the work of its director, Matthew Vaughn…
With the DVD and Blu-ray of X-Men: First Class hitting shelves this week, we'd like you to join us in looking back over the career of the film's acclaimed British director, Matthew Vaughn, to try and see what makes his movies work so well. And, indeed, why we can almost forgive him for helping Vinnie Jones' acting career along.
Originally a producer, Vaughn mostly worked with Guy 'The Geezer' Ritchie, helping to create a wave of Hollywood-rivalling British action films that even people living under rocks have heard of. We're talking about the likes of Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels, Mean Machine and Snatch (although the less said about his involvement in the terminally awful Madonna vehicle, Swept Away, the better).
It wasn't until he got behind the camera himself,...

The classic 2000Ad character Judge Dredd was first adapted for the big screen in 1995, and the results were flawed, to say the least. Phil takes a look back…
First, let me put my cards on the table. For the best part of thirty years, I have been a huge fan of the character Judge Dredd, and the British comic 2000Ad in which he appears.
I state this at the outset just so that you can appreciate the effort it has taken for me not to revert to tedious and predictable whinging about Stallone removing the helmet, Rob Schneider being cast as Fergee, and Dredd exchanging a kiss with Judge Hershey at the film’s conclusion.
Not for me the polemic of the immovable fan-boy, but rather the dispassionate objectivity of a reasonable film critic, someone who can see that compromises have to be made, and that comic book movie franchises...

And it’s the good one, folks.
Along with Roger Corman, Robert Aldrich seems to be the director most represented on Trailers from Hell. This prison-set anti-authoritarian football movie has similarities to The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner. Burt Reynolds, who also appeared in the 2005 Adam Sandler(!) remake, plays a violent anti-hero who makes us root for him against the corrupt establishment anyway, but Sandler in the remake is pretty much of a wimp. Remade in England as Mean Machine in 2001.
Click here to watch the trailer.
You ask a certain age of people about Burt Reynolds and you’re likely to get a scoff, if only because this kind of thing:
Truth is (and if you’re in the know, you know), he’s kind of great. And, as Josh mentions, he was a certified movie star. (Though White Lightning isn’t just a “pretty good” movie; it’s great,...

A mashup of awesome from more awesome gurus. Let’s roll these legends out!
On Monday, August 15, join Mick Garris for the trailer to The Legend of Hell House.
Former Aip head James Nicholson formed Academy Pictures to produce his own projects and this one, of only two released after his death, validates the difference between former partner Sam Arkoff’s aesthetic and his own. Richard Matheson’s popular haunted house novel, transposed to England, receives a classy production with A-level promotion, although the sexuality is a bit toned down.
On Wednesday, August 17, join Josh Olson for the trailer to The Longest Yard.

When (or if) you think of urban UK film, you may immediately think Noel Clarke. However, while he may be the biggest fish, Clarke isn’t the only one swimming in that pool. Based on the cult novel of the same name by Q (aka Ashanti Power, aka Kwabena Manso), two years ago, Deadmeat won awards on both sides of the pond, Best British Feature at the Bfm Film Festival (London, UK), as well as an Accolade Award for Excellence (Hollywood, Us) and is now due to be released on DVD this week… in the UK, anyway.
Written, directed by and starring Q, Deadmeat is a gritty urban thriller which explores London’s gangland dark underbelly in a chilling tale of revenge killings and betrayal.
While Clarke’s earlier films, KidultHood and AdultHood, gained an avid youth following thanks mainly to their somewhat realistic potrayal of bleak UK inner city life,...

Subject: Jason Statham, 43-year old English actor and martial artist
Date of Assessment: January 28, 2011
Positive Buzzwords: Action-packed, ass-kicking, smooth-voiced
Negative Buzzwords: Limited range, Uwe Boll
The Case: Despite our subject's refusal to branch out from his action/martial arts/heist comfort zone, at least no one could ever accuse Jason Statham of being Sam Worthington; this undeniable point of differentiation is a damn good thing because, unlike the latter, Statham possesses a powerfully potent personality and an unforgettable prowess. As a by-now-established presence on the action-movie scene, Statham has been famously compared to Steve McQueen, Arnold Schwartzenegger, Vin Diesel, and Jean Claude Van Damme. Oh, and there's one other interesting parallel that's largely been drawn by Statham himself, who has seemingly crossed the line by taking over Charles Bronson's role in a remake of The Mechanic, which either invites or negates any comparison to this action legend himself.

The Mechanic
Directed by Simon West
Written by Lewis John Carlino and Richard Wenk
USA, 2011
Jason Statham is the closest thing Hollywood has to an undiluted action star. Stallone’s grown too old, The Rock is struggling to leave Disney-flick purgatory, Gerard Butler seems to fare better in romantic comedies, and Vin Diesel is nowhere to be found. Beyond his early appearance in Mean Machine, Statham has never branched out into full-on comedic or dramatic territory, preferring to stick to what he does best: largely-stoic asskicking turns in largely-mediocre action films. As such, Simon West’s The Mechanic, a remake of the Charles Bronson vehicle of the same name, is an ideal property for Statham: it’s a no-frills, no-bullshit, ultraviolent affair with little in the way of comic relief, love interests, supporting turns or elaborate CGI to distract from its primary objective – blowing shit up.

Danny Dyer has hit out against former co-star Vinnie Jones, branding him as an "abysmal" actor. The Doghouse star confessed in new book 'Straight Up' to being less than impressed by Jones's attempts at conveying emotion when the British hardmen paired up for 2001 jail drama Mean Machine. Dyer writes: "His lack of acting nous really showed on that film. There's a real poignant moment where he explains to these other prisoners how he's f**ked up his life. "You read the script and he's meant to cry. When he came to do it, I wanted to put my head in my pocket. It was abysmal. He looked more like he was going to take a s**t." Dyer added to WENN that he particularly relished watching the former footballer come to the realisation (more)...

British actor Danny Dyer has reignited his war of words with Vinnie Jones after branding the former soccer star's acting "abysmal".
Dyer was less than impressed with Jones' attempts at emotional scenes when the pair co-starred in 2001 prison drama Mean Machine.
In his new book Straight Up, Dyer writes, "His lack of acting nous really showed on that film. There's a real poignant moment where he explains to these other prisoners how he's f**ked up his life.
"You read the script and he's meant to cry. When he came to do it, I wanted to put my head in my pocket. It was abysmal. He looked more like he was going to take a s**t."
And Dyer is adamant the Hollywood hardman was actually intimidated when they performed together.
He adds: "The one thing I loved about doing the film was seeing the fear in his eyes whenever we had a scene together. He just could not keep up with the pace. I could see him struggling. He'd be waiting for his cue thinking, 'Oh, now I speak' and I'd f**k about, wait a little bit, do something a bit odd, a bit left field, chuck that in the f**king mix. He clearly thought, 'This geezer's quite good' and he started to want to be my mate a little bit but he couldn't by then."
The duo later reteamed in The Other Half, but Dyer has no plans to work with Jones again: "I've not come across him since. He's got a problem with me. I've got a problem with him. That's the way it is."...

10.33pm: @Wedgemondo's looking forward to The Social Network. It's fine, but it stops short of greatness. It's so specific to its era that I wonder whether anyone will even be able to watch it in 10 years' time.
10.31pm: Another well-handled beating, in which Colm Meaney repeatedly slams Craig into a chest freezer full of frozen goods. I think there's an interesting comparison between this film and Eastern Promises, another one set around London's underworld. This one, I think, has a rather better feel for London - Cronenberg's in Eastern Promises didn't seem too sure, and it certainly didn't feel like London to me. Though it's true I've...

With the biggest, greatest, most over the top action film of all time coming out on 19th August in the form of The Expendables (our review here), HeyUGuys is bringing you the ultimate run down of the kill count that these historic action actors have each tallied up.
From throat rips to decapitations, martial art assassins to robotic killers and Yippee Ki-Yay’s to Asta La Vista’s, they have dealt death in every way possible with every weapon imaginable.
Each death reaches the same conclusion but each actor carries it off in their own unique style, often adding a personal touch. Be it an Arnie verbal send off like “Stick Around” after being stuck with a huge knife against a post or adding some humour by playing games with the baddies like John McClane in Die Hard ” Now I have a machine gun, Ho Ho Ho”. A memorable death...

As he takes pride of place in The Expendables, Duncan counts down the finest movies of his action movie idol, Mr Jason Statham...
Now, before you start reading any further, you might be thinking, "What the hell have they written this list for? Surely he hasn't even made ten films yet?"
But you'd be wrong on two counts.
Firstly, the reason that Jason Statham has been so successful is from working damn hard since he broke through in 1998 with Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels. In the last twelve years, he's clocked up twenty-four onscreen appearances.
Sensibly, he's chosen to concentrate on mostly making the films that he's naturally suited to: action movies.
The reason I'm most grateful for this is because of the seeming generosity with which it feels he's rewarding me as an action fan. I'd be happy if every other film he ever did was a sequel to The Transporter,...

Vinnie Jones was the eleventh star to enter the Celebrity Big brother housemate tonight.
One of the 20th century’s most notorious footballers, Vinnie rose to fame playing for Wimbledon Fc’s ‘Crazy Gang’. A key part of the team that shocked bookmakers and fans alike by beating Liverpool in the 1998 Fa Cup final, Vinnie went on to play for clubs including Leeds, Chelsea, and Wales.
Infamous for distracting Paul Gascoigne by grabbing his testicles in a game against Tottenham, Vinnie was sent off 12 times in his career and still holds the record for the fastest ever booking – receiving a yellow card after just three seconds. He retired from the game in 1999.
After football, his great passion is acting and in 1998 he made his successful debut as ‘Big Chris’ in Guy Ritchie’s hit film, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, for which he received an Empire award. Hollywood soon...

Nobody wants to go to jail. But if you've got to go to jail, just hope you don't do it in the movies. Odds are if you're going to movie jail, you're going to wind up at the mercy of some jerk warden (or captain or superintendent or game show host of a dystopian future) who wants to torture you for kicks.
It happens time and again, most recently in this week's "Gamer" where poor Gerard Butler plays an inmate who finds himself as a running man in a death race against the southern-accented treachery of Michael C. Hall. In honor of "Gamer," here are 12 more corrupt and sadistic movie wardens who could scare anyone straight.
Strother Martin as The Captain
"Cool Hand Luke" (1967)
"What we've got here is... failure to communicate." It's not just the most famous line ever spoken by a movie warden; it's one of the most famous lines in movie history.

From this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed, we have something a bit more whimsical than usual-- why, it's those double-dealing do-badders, Dick Dastardly and Muttley in the Mean Machine, the old Double Zero, and the rest of the Wacky Racers! Take a look at the race itself. I have only two gripes:
The video needs the racetrack announcer doing play-by-play.What is Sawtooth doing driving with Penelope Pitstop?...

Jean-Claude Van Damme and Vinnie Jones (Mean Machine) will star in Weapons. The film is about the world's two best assassins, who are forced to team up to take down the head of a DEA-backed drug cartel. Jones will play a sharp-shooter, while Van Damme will play a knife... guy. Russell Mulcahy (Highlander) will direct. On New Years Day 1962, record producer Dick Rowe listened to The Beatles audition for him. He told them "no thanks guys, guitar music is on the way out." When Van Damme turned down The Expendables it was not totally unlike that day.

Forget Michael Sheen’s latest bit of high profile mimicry as Brian Clough. The really impressive thing about The Damned United is that it’s that rarest of rare breeds – a half decent movie about football. Hollywood’s history of celluloid soccerball bungles is a rich one. And football’s perceived lack of drama has led to some enjoyably jazzed up sports movies and preposterous on-pitch performances. Here are our favourites… Jason Statham - Mean Machine (2001) Burt Reynolds’ Grid Iron classic... .

Soccer star-turned-actor Vinnie Jones has a heavyweight legal team in his corner to fight assault charges - he has hired the same lawyer who defended Mel Gibson and Lindsay Lohan.
The Mean Machine star is due in court on Tuesday after he was involved in a scuffle at a bar in Sioux Falls, South Dakota earlier this month.
And he hopes celebrity attorney Blair Berk - who successfully represented Gibson and Lohan when they were hit with driving under the influence charges - will help clear him over the brawl.
The Hollywood hardman was pictured on CCTV apparently attacking Juan Barrera when a boozy night erupted in violence. Barrera's pal Jesse Bickett was held by cops but released without charge.
Jones, who insists he was the victim, needed 48 stitches to his face after he was struck with a beer glass.
