Riverdale celebrated the holidays in season 2 episode 9, but it wasn't all Secret Santa exchanges and toy drives. Instead, Betty and Archie faced off against the Black Hood, while Jughead did what he felt he had to in order to get Penny Peabody out of his and his father's lives.
Here are the times "Chapter 22: Silent Night, Deadly Night" took a very dark turn.

Betty and Archie shared a Christmas kiss -- and no there was no mistletoe in sight!
In this week's mid-season finale of Riverdale, "Chapter 22: Silent Night, Deadly Night," the relationships between Bughead and Varchie were still on ice, but it looks like things between life-long friends Betty and Archie are finally starting to heat up. The detective duo shared a passionate kiss in the car when they were on the quest to discover the Black Hood's identity. (By the way, it was Janitor Svenson underneath the hood. Lame!)
It all started when Archie gifted Betty with a sentimental blast from their childhood past during the gang's Secret Santa party. Archie gave his next-door neighbor a Swiss Family Robinson read-along record they used to listen to when they were five years old. "I love it, Arch! Thank you," Betty gushed.

All I wanted for Christmas was to find out who Riverdale‘s Black Hood killer is… and you know, kids, sometimes wishes do come true.
It’s Christmas time in Riverdale, and Kevin is having a Secret Santa party for the gang… which gets awkward fast, since Archie and Jughead are still freshly broken up with Veronica and Betty. (Ronnie gets a gift certificate for a couples’ massage — gee, thanks.) But Betty’s a little distracted, anyway, by bad dreams of the Black Hood wearing a Santa suit and...

“The Florida Project” is a good movie, and the people behind it are trying to do some good offscreen as well. Writer/director Sean Baker just announced on Twitter that the movie itself, its distributor A24, and the Felix Organization are partnering to provide holiday gift cards for children in need in Kissimmee, Florida — meaning anyone who saw the film can now become a Secret Santa.

It will be nice to see Jon Hamm in a starring role again, and a lead role at that. He’s been squandered so much in feature films at this point that a lot of people are starting wonder just when someone that sees his true potential is going to be able to bring him back to the front and use his talents in a more efficient way. Grey’s Anatomy star Giacomo Gianniotti is hopeful that Dr. Andrew DeLuca will see happier days in the halls of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.
The 28-year-old actor discussed the future of the love triangle his character is currently entangled in with Jo (Camilla Luddington) and her ex, Alex (Justin Chambers). Over the course of the last season, DeLuca began developing strong feelings for Jo, and it appears there’s a very real possibility for a deeper connection between the two doctors.
“DeLuca’s attempts to confess his feelings to Jo haven’t gone so well for him,” Gianniotti recently told Et. “But personally speaking, I think he jumped the gun a little bit. She’s fresh out of this relationship [with Alex]. I think she just needs a little time to process everything. It’s not necessarily that she doesn’t have interest and feelings for DeLuca, but she needs some space.”

Degrassi: Next Class‘ fourth season — which you should definitely finish binging before reading any further — continued the franchise’s time-honored tradition of mixing the topical with the twisted, while also delivering a mighty handsome nod to its past.

Honestly, I don’t think I can even exaggerate how “there” this season went. Hell, it wouldn’t even be too much to say that this season snatched the fandom’s collective wig — because a character literally snatched their own wig. (I’ll admit to gasping out loud.

On the heels of “The Crown’s” win at the Golden Globes, the world’s fascination with the British royal family continues unabated. PBS enters the fray with “Victoria,” the tale of the original long-reigning queen who is the great, great grandmother of the Queen Elizabeth we know now.

Did 2016 feel a bit like a particularly visceral and vicious episode of “Black Mirror”? Series creator Charlie Brooker agrees.
The future-facing sci-fi satirist — and former broadcaster! that will come in handy! — has taken to the BBC for “Charlie Brooker’s 2016 Wipe,” an hour-long wrap-up (or takedown) of the year that was. It’s even more chilling than it sounds.
Read More: ‘Black Mirror’ Creator Charlie Brooker Reveals ‘San Junipero’-Inspired Playlist
The always-wry Brooker sums it up best — it’s “a program about things that happened in 2016” — but the final product is a month-by-month look at everything that happened over the course of the last 12 months (and, yes, most of it is very bad, though damn if Brooker doesn’t make even the most bleak happenings at least bitingly funny).
By the time you get to December, you’ll be exhausted. Happy new year!

Deadpool is the raunchiest and most experimental character in the Marvel Universe. So what does that mean when he teams up with Marvel's flagship hero Spider-Man?
Actor and comedian Paul Scheer figured that out thanks to his work on Deadpool/Spider-Man No. 12, which he wrote with Nick Giovannetti and features art from Todd Nauck. (It hit stores today.)

“Deadpool” may have been the superhero movie of the year, becoming the highest-grossing R-rated and “X-Men” film of all time. While the Ryan Reynolds-starring action flick may have been a commercial success, that didn’t stop the folks over at CinemaSins from picking the story apart in their latest “Everything Wrong With” video.
The 19-minute clip begins by quickly jotting down “Deadpool’s” first sin for having Marvel’s 12-second comic book flippy logo. It then continues marking violations for not going “far enough in uglying up Wade Wilson,” criticizing it for how “they couldn’t afford any more X-Men to be at the mansion,” and all the pop culture references it makes.
It also comments on the first fighting sequence by saying, “I see the director learned a thing or two at the Michael Bay-Zack Snyder symposium for the construction of this scene.”

Even though the holidays are upon us, that doesn’t mean the horror and sci-fi genres are slowing down, especially on the VOD side of things. For December, we have 21 different titles arriving on digital platforms, including two films I absolutely adored this year: The Eyes of My Mother (hits VOD on December 2nd) and Beyond the Gates (arrives on December 9th). Several other indie films will be coming home to VOD over the next few weeks, too, including Pet, Abattoir, The Possession Experiment, and Blood Brothers, and for those of you who may have missed it in theaters, Train to Busan hits VOD on December 13th, and it is not to be missed.
Other VOD releases for December include Solace, Morgan, Good Tidings, It Watches, The Disappointments Room, and the V/H/S-based SiREN.

When the holiday season rolls around, the only thing more exciting than tearing into that pile of gifts on Christmas morning is that feeling when Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop Gift Guide is revealed. Face Off season 10 is coming to a close with tonight’s episode. Will Melissa, Walter or Rob take the title? As we saw last week, Rob’s screen test ended with him having to re-sculpt everything. Yes, everything. He’s freaking out & I really can’t blame him. Melissa has a medium amount of work – re-doing a chest piece & her victim makeup. Walter appears to be sitting pretty with some minor edits & additions. I think I’m putting my bets on Rob – he’s been consistently strong over the entire season.
