Kat Dennings is eyeing a return to broadcast television. The 2 Broke Girls star has been cast opposite fellow sitcom vet Tim Allen in the ABC comedy pilot Shifting Gears, Deadline reports.
As previously reported, the network responsible for Home Improvement and Last Man Standing is behind Shifting Gears. The potential multi-cam centers on Allen’s Matt, “the stubborn, widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop,” according to the official logline. “When Matt’s estranged daughter and her teenage kids move into his house, the real restoration begins.”

Do you remember the show "Raising Dad"? The 2001-2002 single-season series from The WB grabbed my attention because it was another show starring "Full House" star Bob Saget, but would also serve as the gateway to two actors who would become all-time favorites of mine: Kat Dennings and Brie Larson. When it was announced that the latter was going to appear in "Fast X," I couldn't resist bringing up her history of playing a hot rodder in the Disney Channel Original Movie "Right on Track," and I'm always elated when people realize that Larson is one of the members of the Six Chicks clique in "13 Going on 30" and one of the popular girls in "Sleepover."
When actors can transition into a successful acting career as adults, their childhood careers either become the comparison of everything they do moving forward, or a non-discussed subject. For Larson, her past as...

Since her breakthrough roles in the early 2010s, Brie Larson has proven her range. The Oscar-winning star of Room has appeared in films such as Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Short Term 12, Trainwreck, Kong: Skull Island, Captain Marvel, and Just Mercy. But now’s she set to return to television for the first time in more than a decade with Lessons in Chemistry.

It's the beginning of the end for the "Fast & Furious" franchise, with "Fast X," the first half of the two-part conclusion of the series, speeding its way into theaters later this year. As was announced in 2022, Academy Award-winner and Captain Marvel herself, Brie Larson, is joining the "Fast" family as the mysterious new character, Tess. While little has been made known about her new character, Larson's past performances make her a perfect addition to the action franchise centering on fast cars, heists, spies, and loyalty.
Larson has been acting since she was just a child, with her breakthrough performance on the sitcom "Raising Dad" occurring when she was only 12 years old. She would go on to appear in bit parts in films like "13 Going on 30" as one of the Six Chicks, or in "Sleepover," where she plays an 8th grader with a driver's license because she's been held back so many times.

Candace Cameron Bure is on a mission to remember the late Bob Saget for the person he was. In an interview with Fox News on Wednesday, Feb. 16, Candace shared that she has kept in "close contact" with Bob's wife, Kelly Rizzo, since the Raising Dad star's passing on Jan. 9. The anchor asked Candace if she knows how the family is doing, after they filed a lawsuit on Feb. 15, to block the release of the late actor's medical records. "I keep in close contact with Kelly," Candace explained. "It's been difficult these past couple weeks because of more things that have come out and there's a lot of questions." The fellow Full...

Bob Saget, the patriarch on long-running ABC sitcom “Full House,” is dead at age 65, TMZ reports. His cause of death is unknown at this time.
Found unresponsive in his hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando January 9, Saget was pronounced dead at the scene by deputies, according to a tweet from the Orange County Sheriff’s office. No signs of foul play or drug use were found.
Saget first rose to fame as Danny Tanner, the widowed father of three on “Full House,” a role he played for all eight seasons and then reprised for five seasons of the Netflix revival “Fuller House.” Concurrently, Saget served as the long-running host of “America’s Funniest Home Videos,” cementing his status as America’s TV dad in the late ’80s and early ’90s.

Her roots were planted in the past. Though her life was changing fast, who she was was who she wanted to be. Twenty years ago, the now defunct WB network introduced a family sitcom starring country music icon and American treasure Reba McEntire. Appropriately titled “Reba,” in the multicamera sitcom, McEntire plays Reba Hart, a recent divorcee who now has to handle being a single mother who worked too hard — but who also loves her kids and never stops.
Of course, outside of just the financial struggles of becoming a single mother (when the father was the breadwinner), this new normal was made even more difficult for Reba with the reveal that her eldest child, popular high school cheerleader Cheyenne (JoAnna Garcia Swisher), was impregnated by her himbo boyfriend, star high school football player Van (Steve Howey). In the pilot, Van is kicked out of his home for this and moves in with the Harts,...

Brie Larson is one of the most in-demand actors working in American cinema right now. She hasn’t had the requisite breakthrough to push her forward, but has instead had a variety of strong roles that accumulated on her resume have made her very in-demand. She won much critical (and audience) praise for her turn in the remarkable, if little-seen, Short Term 12 in 2013, and offered stellar supporting work in films like 21 Jump Street and The Spectacular Now.
Larson is only 25 but already has more than 40 screen credits to her name, including main roles on TV series like Raising Dad and The United States of Tara. (Others may know her best for a recurring role as Abed’s ex-girlfriend, Rachel, on Community.) She has many exciting films on the horizon as well, including this summer’s Trainwreck and the adaptation of the bestselling novel, Room.

"We are basically like sisters now," Dennings says. "And we talk every day. We are extremely close."
Now in its third season, the sitcom about two very different young women working at a greasy spoon in Brooklyn has seen the characters evolve.
"When we meet Max, in Season 1, she was hard and jaded and set in her ways and thinking her life will be this one thing," Dennings says. "Caroline opens her outlook. Now she is more kind and outward and more hopeful and a little crazier. Which might be them taking my personality."
Dennings is having a terrific year, one that included reprising her role as Darcy in "Thor: The Dark World.

Brie Larson takes a sip of a seemingly diet-geared beverage while installed at a back table at an actually swanky midtown Manhattan workspace (like an office, except for people who don’t want to work in “an office”) – it’s a spicy lemonade, a prepackaged version of the very Los Angeles “master cleanse,” but Larson drinks it because she likes the taste. She likes it so much that she encourages me to take a sip straight from her own bottle, and it’s as delicious and refreshing as she promised it would be. Then she says that she thinks that cleanses are “really bad for you” and that, when it comes to those oft-buzzed-about toxins supposedly ruining our bodies, it’s just “an actual scam.” Brie Larson is the type of Hollywood “it girl” who drinks spicy lemonade because she likes the taste, not because pop culture tells her it’s good for her. School is back in session and the summer movie season has wrapped, which means the pop-culture focus temporarily shifts to television until the annual slate of Oscar contenders and holiday blockbusters hit theaters.
This fall, though, you'll notice the new television season has a host of big movie stars transitioning to primetime, either for the first time, like Luke Wilson, or in a splashy return, like Ashton Kutcher.
While the majority of film actors are headlining high-profile series, a couple of them are lining up for key supporting roles in ensemble casts. Take a look at these 15 familiar faces and find out where you can catch them on the small screen this year.

Kat Dennings has explained that she has never concerned herself with the acclaim that often accompanies celebrity status. The 24-year-old actress began her career at an early age, appearing on an episode of Sex And The City and starring alongside Bob Saget in Raising Dad while she was a teenager. In an interview with Complex Magazine, Dennings expressed her belief that retaining humility is key to dealing with success. "People make the mistake of drinking the Kool-Aid, believing your own hype, letting people tell you you're this or you're that or you're too this," the Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist actress remarked. Dennings (more)...

Kat Dennings is set to play one of the two leads in CBS' multicamera comedy pilot Two Broke Girls, co-written and executive produced by Michael Patrick King (Sex and the City) and comedian Whitney Cummings.
Dennings is the first to be cast in the project, which centers on "two girls from very different backgrounds - Max (Dennings), poor from birth, and Caroline, born wealthy but down on her luck - who wind up as waitresses in the same Brooklyn diner, and strike up an unlikely friendship that could lead to a successful business venture... if they can come up with $250,000 in start-up expenses."
She got her start in TV with breakout roles opposite Bob Saget in the WB sitcom Raising Dad and had a story arc on NBC's ER. She has starred in such films as The House Bunny and Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist (my personal favorite) and will next be seen in Thor.

Mamma mia, here we go again. My my, it's been quite a year at the movies, one that has introduced us to an impressive bunch of newcomers. Once again, the MTV Movie Awards are eager to recognize the breakthroughs — and the Female Breakthrough Performance category has several fresh-faced actresses angling to be crowned as the Meryl Streep of tomorrow.
Do Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale have careers beyond the "High School Musical" films? Is Miley Cyrus the singing/acting double threat that she appears to be? Are Kat Dennings and Freida Pinto destined for long careers, and will "Mamma Mia!" star Amanda Seyfried launch a legacy as durable as her Abba collaborators?
These questions and more will be answered Sunday night, as fans continue...

The generic family sitcom made Bob Saget a lot of money, as did celebrating the infinite comic possibilities of pets getting drunk and people getting hit in the nads with wiffle ball bats. Then, Saget spent over a decade trying to bury his "Full House" and "America's Funniest Home Videos" Good Guy persona. Assuming that you've forgotten the short-lived WB comedy "Raising Dad" (and Kat Dennings probably hopes you have), dating back to his memorable cameo in 1998's "Half-Baked," Saget has mostly cultivated a raunchy and rude, distinctly R-rated image. And you know what? It's worked. I don't think about...
