With its list of new releases for May 2023, Amazon Prime Video is increasing its global reach.
The streamer’s biggest original offering this month is a German series. Hohlbeins’ – The Gryphon, based on the works of Wolfgang Holhlbein, will present a sprawling fantasy tale about three teens discovering a fantastical world called The Black Tower where “the Gryphon, a world-devouring monster, mercilessly subjugates all living creatures.”
The only other original title of note in May is Freevee comedy Primo on the 19th. Written by author and journalist Shea Serrano and produced by Michael Schur (The Good Place), this coming-of-age series will follow a teenager balancing “college aspirations, societal expectations, and a hectic home life on the south side of San Antonio.”

God of War Ragnarok is many things, but one of the game’s best features is its nearly unrivaled cinematic presentation style. Of course, the sequel’s ambitious narrative and storytelling would be nothing without the perfect cast of voice actors to play every character.
Thankfully, Ragnarok features such a cast. While many of the game’s principal characters (and voice actors) are returning from 2018’s God of War, those familiar faces and voices are joined by some fully-realized new characters that help make this game the most epic God of War adventure yet.
Before we dive a bit deeper into all that, you should know that the full God of War: Ragnarok cast is massive. Not only would it be incredibly difficult to list every single voiced character in the game in anything close to a legible format, but we would be spoiling a significant portion of the game...

Amanda Mackey, the casting director behind such films as Best Picture Oscar nominee The Fugitive and A League of Their Own and who earned an Emmy nom for The Normal Heart during a nearly four-decade career, has died. She was 70.
Her longtime friend and business partner Cathy Sandrich Gelfond told Deadline that Mackey died August 27 in her sleep of myelodysplastic syndrome, a form of blood cancer, at Calvary Hospital in Brooklyn.
“Amanda was a singular force — fiercely intelligent, impeccably stylish, wildly passionate about ideas, the state of the world and her work,” Sandrich Gelfond told Deadline. “She loved her daughters profoundly and was an unwaveringly steadfast friend and champion in a time when women weren’t as supportive to other women as they are now. She believed in me, lifted me up and gave me a career. She was the sister I never had and changed my life in countless ways.

Greg Kinnear will make his Broadway debut as Atticus Finch in Aaron Sorkin’s stage adaptation of the classic Harper Lee novel To Kill a Mockingbird, replacing outgoing star Jeff Daniels in January.
Daniels, who originated the role when the play opened on Broadway in 2018 and returned when the production resumed performances after the Covid shutdown, will make his final appearance as Atticus on January 2. Kinnear begins performances on January 5.
Prior to the shutdown, the role was played by Ed Harris, with Kinnear originally set to take over in spring 2020. That plan was interrupted when the Broadway shutdown commenced in March 2020; Daniels and original cast member Celia Keenan-Bolger as Scout agreed to return to the show for limited engagements upon Broadway’s reopening.
Kinnear’s casting was announced today by producer Barry Diller.
Kinnear was Oscar-nominated for his performance in As Good as It Gets and nominated for two primetime Emmys. After finding initial success as the host of TV’s Talk Soup from 1991-95, he segued to an acting career that included roles in You’ve Got Mail, Mystery Men, Nurse Betty, We Were Soldiers, Auto Focus, The Gift, Someone Like You, Little Miss Sunshine, Baby Mama, and House of Cards. He’ll next be seen opposite Courteney Cox in the Starz comedy series Shining Vale and with Taron Egerton and Paul Walter Hauser in the Apple drama series In With The Devil.

Though Marvel has decided to consolidate all of its cinematic universe offerings onto Disney+, some outliers still live on for other streaming services. In May 2021, Hulu is set to premiere the latest non-canon Marvel series.
The animated comedy Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K. is set to premiere on May 21 and stars Patton Oswalt as the titular Marvel villain. Oswalt’s Modok is every bit the devious floating head that he’s depicted as in the comics. He’s also your every day family man and the show will take on the format of a workplace sitcom. Randall Wallace, the Oscar-nominated screenwriter of “Braveheart,” and his company Wallace Entertainment have accused Brent Montgomery’s Wheelhouse Entertainment of federal trademark infringement and unfair competition in a new lawsuit filed Monday.
In papers filed with the federal court in the central district of California, Wallace says he owns the trademark rights to the names “Wheelhouse” and “Wheelhouse Entertainment” and has used the names in connection with the production of his own entertainment content, including “Braveheart,” “Pearl Harbor,” “The Man in the Iron Mask” and as the director of “We Were Soldiers” and “Secretariat.” He also said in the filing that people frequently confuse Montgomery’s company with his own and that Montgomery’s Wheelhouse is aware of Wallace but refused to comply with requests to cease using the name.

Exclusive: Sam Elliott has been set to narrate the four-part docuseries Honor Guard, the follow-up to Time To Kill Productions’ 2016 feature documentary The Unknowns.
Honor Guard follows U.S. Army soldiers who volunteer for the grueling training required to serve at the 3rd Infantry Regiment, aka The Old Guard, the oldest active infantry regiment in the Army. Those who pass earn a spot at The Regiment, in the Honor Guard Caisson Platoon, on the U.S. Army Drill Team, or participate in a full-honors funeral ceremony in Arlington National Cemetery.
Creators Neal Schrodetzki (who is also writing and directing) and Ethan Morse will film the never-before-documented training cycles. The pair met while serving together in the Army as guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, whose training was spotlighted in The Unknowns. We really don't know much about Sam Elliot's new film The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then The Bigfoot. All we've been given so far is a poster, a synopsis, and a very intriguing title. Based on those things, I'm extremely excited to see this movie!
For those of you, like myself, looking for some more information on the film, Sam Elliot and director Robert D. Krzykowski sat down with /Film to talk about the movie and it sounds like they really enjoyed creating it. Before we get into it, here's the synopsis:
Sam Elliott stars as a legendary World War II veteran who many years ago assassinated Adolf Hitler – an incredible secret that he’s frustratingly unable to share with the world. One day, just as he’s coming to terms with rounding out his life, Calvin gets a visit from the FBI and The Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

The sight of a soldier carrying his own severed arm is one of the many horrific images of “Saving Private Ryan,” which 20 years ago earned instant acclaim for its unflinching depiction of the brutality of D-Day. But it’s far from the only film to show the horrors of war. Here are some of the most brutal war movies ever made.
Fury (2014): This David Ayer WWII film starts with bits of brain being cleaned from the inside of a M4 Sherman tank, and continues to get uglier from there as a tank unit led by Staff Sgt. Don “Wardaddy” Collier (Brad Pitt) begins its final charge into Nazi Germany in 1945.
Full Metal Jacket (1987): While Stanley Kubrick’s Vietnam film is more known for its first half at boot camp, the second half shows a grisly battle as Private Joker (Matthew Modine) watches as his crew is slain by a hidden sniper.

Blake Heron’s cause of death has been revealed, five months after he was pronounced dead at his Los Angeles area home in September.
The 35-year-old former child actor, best known for his role as Marty Preston in 1996’s Shiloh, died of an accidental drug overdose due to the “effects of multiple drugs,” according to his death certificate obtained by Entertainment Tonight.
Heron, who had also previously battled heroin addiction and had completed rehab, reportedly overdosed on the opioid fentanyl and also had other medications in his system.
The Los Angeles County Coroner did not immediately respond to People’s request for comment.

We Were Soldiers is an emotionally-charged story that shows the struggle that occurred at the Ia Drang Valley, or Valley of Death as it was known in those days. The conflict was between Us and North Vietnamese soldiers and like many such combat zones it was a bloody mess by the time all was said and done. Unfortunately while it was well-received the film is historically inaccurate as the director felt the need to change a few things along the way. The Vietnam War was, by all accounts, not a glamorous or entirely successful engagement, but many prefer to see

You won’t find a sharper contrast in period costume design than the farm life of “Mudbound” vs. the high fashion of “Murder on the Orient Express.” The former, directed by Dee Rees, is a sprawling saga about two families, one black, one white, in the 1940s Mississippi Delta. And the latter, helmed by Kenneth Branagh (who also plays the wildly mustachioed Hercule Poirot), is a stylish, 1934 murder mystery aboard the eponymous luxury locomotive.
Tackling Parallel Settings for “Mudbound”
There were two challenges for costume designer Michael T. “You’re trying to realistically recreate the atmosphere,” Boyd added. “That was my mission on this show.

Lionsgate has released two new clips from director Mel Gibson’s Hacksaw Ridge.
Hacksaw Ridge is the extraordinary true story of Desmond Doss (Andrew Garfield) who, in Okinawa during the bloodiest battle of WWII, saved 75 men without firing or carrying a gun. He was the only American soldier in WWII to fight on the front lines without a weapon, as he believed that while the war was justified, killing was nevertheless wrong. As an army medic, he single-handedly evacuated the wounded from behind enemy lines, braved fire while tending to soldiers and was wounded by a grenade and hit by snipers. Doss was the first conscientious objector awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.
Also starring Sam Worthington, Luke Bracey, Teresa Palmer, Hugo Weaving, Rachel Griffiths, and Vince Vaughn, the film opens in theaters Nov. 4.
Wamg invites you to enter for the chance to win Two (2) seats to the advance screening of Hacksaw Ridge on Nov.

Following rumours earlier in the year, Mel Gibson has now confirmed that he does indeed have plans to make The Passion Of The Christ 2.
The first movie, that he directed and effectively self-funded, grossed over $600m worldwide back in 2004. The existence of a follow-up was revealed by screenwriter Randall Wallace earlier this year, and now – for the first time – Gibson himself has confirmed the news.

When The Passion Of The Christ came out in 2004, it was a phenomenon. Everyone was talking about it. Whether it was the visceral storytelling, some of the more controversial decisions director Mel Gibson made, or Gibson's own unraveling personal life, you couldn't escape it. The $30 million movie made a stunning $612 million worldwide.
Recently, writer Randall Wallace let the cat out of the bag that work had begun on a sequel. Titled The Resurrection, the film would seemingly center on the return of Christ who- Spoiler Alert- died at the end of the last film. Aside from Wallace's revelation, director Gibson has been relatively mum on the project. Until now.

His most recent films at the time, Signs and We Were Soldiers, showed his versatility with different types of material, yet he suggested he wanted to focus more on directing and producing. He'd already won an Academy Award for directing and producing Braveheart, so what might be next for him? That turned out to be The Passion of the Christ, an intense, R-rated drama that primarily covered the final 12 hours of the life of Jesus Christ (Jim Caviezel). Gibson cowrote, coproduced and directed the movie, which was quite controversial, due in part to its depiction of graphic violence and due in part to its version of events. Bethesda
One of Bethesda’s greatest strengths across both their Elder Scrolls and Fallout franchises, is that ability to tell hundreds of different, self-contained stories that hold your interest just as much as anything with one long-running narrative.
Fallout 4 doesn’t disappoint either, as the Sole Survivor’s quest to retrieve his stolen son is certainly a highlight, yet it’s the hidden gems scattered throughout the irradiated wasteland that shine brightest.
So much has happened in the 200 years since the bombs first dropped, that although choosing a direction to head in can be a daunting task, Bethesda guarantee there’ll be something – or someone – worth interacting with.
It’s that very freedom to explore that has, and always will be, the main draw of the series, but just to make sure you’re getting the most out the game, here are 10 of the most impactful, interesting and intriguing stories the Commonwealth has to offer.

Chicago – Actor Sam Eliott will make you smile. The distinctive voice, his famous mustache and his character presence in a film or TV show increases any potential in the production. He recently was in Chicago with director Paul Weitz, as they teamed up in the film “Grandma,” starring the incomparable Lily Tomlin.
“Grandma” has a very unique premise. Tomlin is the title character of Elle, who is visited by her granddaughter Sage (Julia Garner). The girl is seeking an abortion, and her feminist poet grandmother seems like the right fellow traveler on her way to the procedure. Sam Elliott portrays Karl, Elle’s ex-husband – she left him for a same sex partner – who harbors a resentment toward circumstances in their relationship. The two meet along the way to the clinic, and the resentment boils to the surface.
