When Barbara and Liz go on their snowmobile ride, Barbara is wearing black glove, but in a close-up she's not wearing any gloves.

In fact, because this is a cordless phone, the base station of the handset which we earlier see in the kitchen of the cabin needs electric power to operate the telephone portion and send/receive the handset which Barbara is holding. So even if Liz's ex-husband cut only the electric power to the cabin (and therefore cutting power to the cordless base station), this cordless phone wouldn't operate anyway.
