10. It (1990)
The story that gladly launched coulrophobia rates in the world off the charts, Stephen King’s It is haunting and unsettling. You definitely wouldn’t want to be a child when this demonic clown is clowning around: even if you somehow survived, you’d be mentally scarred for life. But you could always just move from the town he's in. You can watch It on Apple TV and Prime Video.
9. House of 1000 Corpses (2003)
One glance at Rob Zombie is enough to picture the kind of horror movies this man makes, and House of 1000 Corpses, his directorial debut, started off strong. Ending up in the Firefly family’s abode is a terrible, terrible idea… But at least, you’d know there’s no hope of escaping, so that’s kind of a nice bonus compared to later entries.
You can watch House of 1000 Corpses on Prime Video.

As we’ve mentioned before in this series, horror threequels, or from any movie genre in fact, are notoriously hard to nail, in terms of quality. So, I won’t dwell for too long about which part threes have historically worked, and which should be pinned to the wall to rot like one of the Creeper’s victims. However, as we all know, dollar signs in the eyes of studio execs can be a dangerous thing, and if there’s a franchise primed and ready to be milked for all it’s worth, just one last time, those suits will make it happen. For better, or worse. Which, my dear fellow gore-hounds, brings us nicely around to a franchise that had much potential for multiple installments; Jeepers Creepers. And, yeah, I know what the title sounds like with my broad Northern England accent, so suck it up, haters. The first movie was a pleasant surprise,...

The beloved procedural crime show "Bones" ran for an impressive 12 seasons, continuing the upward TV star trajectory for David Boreanaz after his work on shows like "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel," and helping to launch Emily Deschanel to become a household name after a slew of small roles in a handful of TV shows and movies.
As the co-stars of "Bones," Deschanel and Boreanaz naturally appeared in every single episode of the series. And while viewers know guest stars didn't pop up nearly as frequently, some casual watchers may think that some of the more familiar faces might have at least popped up one time per season. But as it turns out, out of all of the guest stars who graced the series from 2005-2017, only one performer managed to make at least one appearance across all 12 seasons: Patricia Belcher, who played Caroline Julian, a federal prosecutor for the U.

The episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? covering Jeepers Creepers 2 was Written and Narrated by Adam Walton, Edited by Joseph Wilson, Produced by Andrew Hatfield and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
Way back in 2001, Jeepers Creepers introduced us to a very effective movie monster who likes nothing more than to harvest and then eat the organs of human beings. The film, starring Justin Long and Gina Philips was hugely popular, and managed to rake in almost $60 million dollars internationally from a reported budget of just $10 million dollars. When you factor in the subsequent profit the film will have made from the various home entertainment revenue streams, you can see why it’s spawned three sequels, to date. The first movie took the horror landscape by surprise, so naturally the first sequel wouldn’t be far away, and before you could say ‘please don’t...

Thank goodness Justin Long has stuck around. After breaking out in the frightfully gross road movie “Jeepers Creepers” and popping in aughts comedies like “Dodgeball” and “Accepted,” the 45-year-old has been on screen long enough to be getting genre-movie roles tailor-made for him — or at least uniquely suited to his strength — playing (not so) “nice guys” in all their dishonesty.
Having tested the waters as an East Coast professor on probation in “After Class” and an idiot Hollywood hotshot facing a #MeToo storm in last year’s “Barbarian,” Long follows up as the big bad in the horror comedy “It’s a Wonderful Knife,” released in theaters Nov. 10, before streaming on Shudder down the road. As the murderous mogul Henry Waters, who slices down anyone that stands in the way of his town’s redevelopment, Long steals the show once again. Justin Long has long been a Hollywood heartthrob. Throughout the years, fans have gotten small glimpses into his love life, as he was linked to famous actors such as Drew Barrymore and Amanda Seyfried, before finally finding love with Kate Bosworth. Following a quiet engagement, which the couple confirmed in April 2023, Long and Bosworth tied the knot shortly after.
Over the years, the "Jeepers Creepers" actor has been outspoken about his desire to settle down and how he's been able to maintain friendships with many of his exes, including Barrymore. During a September 2022 interview with Barrymore on her talk show, the former couple reflected on their time together, crediting their sense of humor as a big part of their connection.
"I love that we've maintained our love. I know from my end, it'll never go anywhere. I will love you always. I mean that," Long told Barrymore, to which she responded,...

Ray Price, a respected producer of indie filmmaking, died July 16 from heart failure after a long battle with cancer. The news was confirmed by his long-term partner Meg Madison. He was 75 years old.
Price launched his film career in 1972, managing the Berkeley storefront theater the Rialto, and went on to build with Allen Michaan Renaissance Theaters, an independent art film chain that became one of the largest (33 at its peak) in the Bay Area and was later sold to the Landmark Theatre circuit.
A tough negotiator and exacting exhibitor, under Price’s stewardship, Renaissance Theaters were renowned for redesigning marketing materials, from posters to press books — designs that fledgling distributors often adopted when the films hadn’t found success in other markets.
At a time when most top arthouse distributors focused on established auteurs from Europe and Asia, Renaissance Theaters exploded those norms by programming new American directors like Martin Scorsese and John Cassavetes.

"The Blackening" is finally changing the narrative for Black characters in the horror space - and it's about damn time.
The Tim Story-directed horror-comedy mashup, cowritten by Tracy Oliver and Dewayne Perkins, reunites a group of friends - portrayed by Perkins, Grace Byers, Jermaine Fowler, Melvin Gregg, X Mayo, Antoinette Robertson, Sinqua Walls, Jay Pharoah, and Yvonne Orji - for a Juneteenth cabin trip gone horribly (and gorily) wrong, as they all find themselves trapped playing a deadly game with a deranged killer on the loose. While the scenario may sound familiar, it's unlike anything audiences - especially Black audiences - have ever seen before.
With its comedic moments, satirical elements, and hero-esque endgame, "The Blackening" is rare compared to traditional horror stories where Black characters don't get to control their own fate, much less survive until the end of a movie. So the cast consider it an honor...

A new episode of the Revisited video series has just been released, and in this one we’re looking back at a movie that some may not consider to be a horror movie, but at the very least it is an “experimental psychological thriller” from a highly respected genre director. The director in question is David Lynch, and the movie we’re talking about today is the 2006 release Inland Empire (get it Here). To revisit Inland Empire with us, check out the video embedded above.
Written and directed by Lynch, Inland Empire tells the following story over the course of its 180 minute running time: Nikki, an actress, takes on a role in a new film, and because her husband is very jealous, her co-star Devon gets a warning not to make any romantic overtures — especially since the characters they play are having an affair. Both actors learn that the project...

In the world of fiction, every character serves a purpose. For some unlucky characters, their only purpose in the narrative is to die.
These characters are sometimes known as "Redshirts," a term coined by "Star Trek" fans used to refer to the unfortunate ensigns who'd be sent along on a mission with the main cast members, their inevitable death just a plot device to raise the stakes of the episode. Death is a commonly used trope in film and television because it's a common experience in real life. A character's death can serve many purposes, whether it be illustrating the danger and severity of a situation or forcing another character to undergo change and growth. It works as a narrative tool, and so writers use it often.
It makes sense, then, that in Hollywood, you start to see some actors pushed into the Redshirt role more often than others. Actors...

"Barbarian" is a movie teeming with nasty twists. Zach Cregger's slow-burning tale is one of the best horror movies this year; it induces palpitations and anxiety and fear that is so inherently relatable — because this isn't a movie where characters are making bad decisions just to further the plot. You can understand why they're choosing to do what they're doing. "Barbarian" stars Georgina Campbell as Tess, a woman traveling to Detroit for a job interview, who books a rental home on Airbnb and discovers the house is double booked.
When you throw in a normal-seeming Bill Skarsgård, a monster who lives in the basement, a hilarious Justin Long, and twist after twist, "Barbarian" truly becomes the stuff of nightmares. Justin Long is the movie's comedic relief. He's a man dealing with a career-ending accusation and is seen desperately measuring the undiscovered basement of his house so he may sell it at a higher price.

Ah yes, here we have another Jeepers Creepers film. Jeepers Creepers: Reborn is the fourth in the franchise, a reboot of the series and the first not to be directed by the Very problematic Victor Salva… but also, is it – as some have said – easily the worst of all the films too?
Forced to travel with her boyfriend, Laine begins to experience premonitions associated with the urban myth of The Creeper. She believes that something supernatural has been summoned – and that she is at the center of it all.
Directed by Timo Vuorensola, Jeepers Creepers Reborn is out now on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital, courtesy of 101 Films. You can also read a review of the film right here.

It’s the most frightening time of the year.
In other words, who doesn’t love celebrating Halloween with a horror movie? Here, Variety asked 17 Hollywood stars — including Charlize Theron, Jonathan Majors, Eddie Redmayne, Joseph Quinn and even Patti LuPone — to recall the scariest film they’ve ever seen.
Though the 1990 adaptation of “It” wasn’t a movie, but a television miniseries, Theron and Majors quickly named the Stephen King rain-drain clown as something that has stayed with them for decades. “That clown!” Theron said. “I’ve never, ever been able to look at rain drainage since then. It has always haunted me.”
Majors recalled watching “It” when he was younger with his two siblings on their family farm in Waco, Texas. “It’s the darkest place in world,” the “Lovecraft Country” star said.
No surprise, but “The Exorcist” was also top of mind. “I saw it when I was...

Netflix’s highly touted and well publicized (perhaps too well) Marilyn Monroe biopic “Blonde” dropped off its top 10 movie chart after only eight days, only three of those at number one. This stunning result reaffirms the suspicion that, as much as subscribers gravitate to originals, top directors and awards attention don’t provide a leg up when it comes to viewer interest.
There can be exceptions and it’s likely that “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” will be one of them. Rian Johnson’s film will have the benefit of its predecessor, a theatrical hit, as well as its cast and strong reviews..
Netflix originals can thrive, but it’s usually for the short term. The current chart has three originals among the top five and these films received a fraction of the “Blonde” attention. It suggests that while viewers may crave social buzz about movies, that’s not...

The “Goosebumps” series in the works at Disney+ has added Justin Long to its cast as a series regular, Variety learned exclusively.
The show is based on the R.L. Stine book series of the same name. Variety exclusively reported the show had been ordered at Disney+ back in February.
Per the official logline, “The series follows a group of five high schoolers who unleash supernatural forces upon their town and must all work together — thanks to and in spite of their friendships, rivalries and pasts with each other — in order to save it, learning much about their own parents’ teenage secrets in the process.” According to Disney Branded Television, the series is influenced by five of the most popular “Goosebumps” books.
Long will play Nathan Bratt, said to be “the new schoolteacher who develops a terrifying connection to a decades-old supernatural murder.”

Plot: The Creeper returns to terrorize Horror Hound attendees who win the chance to enter a Creeper-themed escape room in a supposedly haunted house.
Review: While I have always thought that The Creeper was a great monster that had the potential to be a new genre icon, the Jeepers Creepers franchise is a difficult one to support and defend for a variety of reasons. The biggest problem, of course, is the fact that it was created by Victor Salva, who was convicted of molesting the young star of his 1989 film Clownhouse. Many viewers who saw the first Jeepers Creepers in 2001 weren’t aware of Salva’s crime – but now that there’s greater awareness of what he did, some understandably choose not to watch his movies at all. It does tarnish the movies to know who made them. And while the first Jeepers Creepers was a good creature feature, it...

With roles in “Jeepers Creepers,” “Drag Me To Hell,” and “Tusk,” Justin Long has never shied away from horror movies. But what’s he up to in his latest foray into the genre? 20th Century Studios is having a little bit of meta fun with that in its new trailer for “Barbarian,” calling the movie instead “Justin Long’s New Movie.”

When a young couple wins a stay at a Creeper-themed escape room there’s no way out from stagey panics and shoddy bloodletting
The Creeper, from the 2001 horror film Jeepers Creepers, has always been in the Vanarama National League of cinematic bogeymen, but the batwing-faced old trouper still deserves better than this shoddy, aesthetically ugly reboot. It reprises the original redneck highway setup in its prologue, with two pensioners replacing Justin Long and Gina Phillips. But Finnish director Timo Vuorensola bypasses the first film’s lean and highly strung qualities in a half-hearted attempt to update the franchise – now with no input from its original creator, disgraced director Victor Salva – for horror-savvy 21st-century punters.
The ill-fated seniors at the beginning quickly become another pair of missing persons chalked off to the Creeper, as recounted in a YouTube documentary being lapped up by horror fanboy Chase (Imran Adams). He’s...

It’s always fun to find one of your favorite actors in a horror movie. It’s especially fun to notice an actor in an upcoming horror movie, move to check their IMDb and notice a litany of other horror movies you’d maybe forgotten they starred in. But to go and watch all of said actors horror movies in sequential order? I know, I know. Somebody better stop me because I’m a wild person with no regard for danger. C’mon, let’s get nuts.
Justin Long is the subject of this completist exercise in honor of his not one but two recently released horror movies: Barbarian (In theaters) and House of Darkness (Currently available for rent on VOD). I’ve always considered him an underrated and charismatic actor with the ability to walk the line between “cool guy” and “total dork” as they are so often the same in real life.

Justin Long, most notable for his appearances on Dodgeball and Jeepers Creepers, as well as the voice of Alvin in the Alvin and the Chipmunks film series, has made it known that he cannot stand Tino.
As he made an appearance on the Chicks in the Office podcast, Justin first discussed how he believes these contestants are so worried about how the public perceives them.

Every once in a while, a wild, surprising horror movie makes the round that prompts fans to give each other the same advice upon watching it: go in cold. Don't read synopses, and don't even watch the trailer, but instead get your butt to theaters (if you can) and check it out for yourself while the element of surprise is still on the filmmakers' side. I haven't been able to do that last part yet, but I've heard through the horror-loving grapevine that the new movie "Barbarian," starring Justin Long, Bill Skarsgard, and Georgina Campbell, is one such film.
The movie, which in the briefest of descriptions is about a double-booked short-term home rental, shocked /Film critic Ryan Scott when he saw it. In his review, he wrote, "You are not ready for the absolute unpredictable roller coaster of craziness that is about to happen to you when this movie hits theaters.

“Barbarian,” now playing exclusively in theaters, is one of those movies that is best experienced knowing precious little about the actual plot, beyond the fact that it’s centered around the Airbnb from hell.
This is a horror movie that constantly surprises; you rarely know where it’s headed next and even if you had a guess of where it’ll go, you’re probably wrong. But one thing you can absolutely know beforehand is that Justin Long is one of the stars. And he plays one of cinema’s most odious douchebags. Long’s character isn’t an outright villain, per se, but he frequently makes terrible, morally questionable decisions that will make you want to throw a tomato at the screen (but only if it’ll reach through the screen and hit him). It’s a remarkable performance and one that Long pulls off with aplomb.

There’s always a question of how many movies absolutely Have to be a part of a franchise, but the answer is usually something along the lines of so long as there’s money in it or so long as people are enjoying it. Oh yes, the two can be exclusive. When talking about Jeepers Creepers, though, it’s fair to wonder how many movies this tale will go before it’s finally played out since the truth is that the Creeper, that leathery-skinned individual who frightened so many people in the first movie, has a long origin that needs to be told. Whether people recognize this practice or not it’s found in a lot of horror movies since innocent-sounding songs can go a long way when it comes to placing them as part of the setting in a horror movie. The reason for this is rather simple, they’re placed in a horrific situation to force the fans into a different line of thinking since when you hear songs such as “Jeepers Creepers” or “Tiptoe through the Tulips” or many other supposedly normal, friendly and upbeat songs, you don’t expect them to be set in a horror movie where things are about to

"Jeepers!" Screen Media has unveiled an early teaser trailer for a horror movie debuting in 2022 - Jeepers Creepers: Reborn. After three films for the original series – the first Jeepers Creepers was in 2001, and Jeepers Creepers 3 came out in 2017 – they're throwing things out and rebooting this one. I know there are many films of the original film, and The Creeper is one mean mofo. But is this going to be any good? Forced to travel with her boyfriend to the Horror Hounds festival, Laine begins to experience premonitions about with the urban myth of "The Creeper". Laine believes that something supernatural has been summoned – and that she is at the center of it all. This new horror stars Sydney Craven as Laine, Imran Adams as her boyfriend Chase, plus Ocean Navarro, Matt Barkley, Alexander Halsall, Jodie McMullen, Georgia Goodman, & Jarreau Benjamin. From the director of the two Iron Sky films.

Much is going to be made of the circumstances surrounding Threshold, the micro-budget supernatural road movie by co-directors Powell Robinson and Robert-Patrick Young, which arrives via always-immaculate horror specialists Arrow this week. Shot on two iPhones over two days, with a crew of three and dialogue mostly improvised by its two leads, there’s no doubt that it’s an impressive example of turning limitations into virtues. The against-the-odds achievement of getting a film made under those conditions, as impressive as that is,is really the least important thing here, though. iPhones are just handy-sized cameras, after-all, and the wide vistas of an American cross-country trip ensure the frame is almost always cinematic and often quite beautiful.

Exclusive: Orwo Studios and Black Hanger Studios (Jeepers Creepers: Reborn) have acquired remake rights to controversial 1984 slasher film Silent Night, Deadly Night, which Orwo is beginning sales on at the virtual EFM.
The original film’s producers Scott Schneid and Dennis Whitehead of Wonderwheel Entertainment are also aboard with a planned delivery date in 2022.
Silent Night, Deadly Night tells the story of a child who is traumatized after seeing his parents killed by a man dressed as Santa Claus. Years later, he dons a Santa suit himself and gets bloody revenge. The movie spawned multiple sequels over the years and a loose remake in 2012.
It was the original that caused a stir, however.
The cult film was among the more controversial films of the ’80s due to its graphic violence and advertising campaign, particularly its posters and TV spots, that made significant emphasis on the killer being dressed as Santa.

Italian actor and screenwriter Daria Nicolodi, who played the prying journalist Gianna Brezzi in the Dario Argento cult classic “Deep Red”(Profondo Rosso), and was herself a cult figure, has died. She was 70.
The cause of her death, announced by her daughter Asia Argento and Italian news reports, was not disclosed.
Born in Florence in June 1950, Nicolodi made her acting debut in Italian master Francesco Rosi’s “Many Wars Ago” (Uomini Contro). She was working with helmer Elio Petri when in 1974 she met Dario Argento, with whom she had a longstanding romance, becoming his muse both on and off the screen. In 1975, Nicolodi gave birth to their daughter, Asia Argento, now an actor, director, singer and well-known media personality.
After “Deep Red’s” release in 1975, Nicolodi went on to perform in Dario Argento films “Inferno,”(1980), “Tenebre” (1982), “Phenomena” (1984) and “Opera” (1987).

Vinegar Syndrome is the name of a phenomenon that occurs in motion picture film when reels of film are poorly stored in hot and humid conditions. The hallmarks of this unfortunate and inevitable fate to motion picture film consist of physical degradation of celluloid precipitated by the film development process and indifferent/poor film storage – such as film stored on rusted metal reels – all resulting in film bearing the faint or strong smell of vinegar. The film can become very brittle, suffer from shrinkage and/or take on a contorted shape making it nearly impossible to run through a projector. In short, the only way to arrest the process is to make pristine duplicates of the film’s original camera negative following the developing stage and store them in climate-controlled conditions. As one can well imagine, however, this type of...

If there’s any reason to watch Shortcut it will likely be because it feels like a demented cross between Jeepers Creepers and The Breakfast Club from the start since the characters don’t feel all that well developed, at least in the trailer, and the fact that they’re on a bus and eventually get off of it only to be further terrorized does bring back memories of the second Jc movie. "It won't stop until it's finished." Gravitas Ventures has released an official US trailer for an indie horror thriller titled Shortcut, made by Italian filmmaker Alessio Liguori. Here's the official US trailer (+ poster) for Alessio Liguori's Shortcut, direct...

This giallo bonanza comes in just shy of two hours and you will find both influential and cherished moments and secluded moments on the sidelines. That, for me, showcases its textures and ultimately what a fun, trippy genre it is. The work of the masters is in full swing, beloved composers such as Bruno Nicolai, Nora Orlandi, Riz Ortolani, and Goblin all have turns. And of course, the...
