House Speaker Paul Ryan has finally endorsed Donald Trump for president. After refusing to commit to the real estate mogul when he became the presumptive nominee, and then electing not to make an announcement after the two met privately to discuss the situation, Ryan said on Thursday that he will vote for Trump. Ryan detailed his support for the Donald in a column published in his hometown newspaper, writing he wants to “unite the party so we can win in the fall.” Also Read: 29 Potential Donald Trump Running Mates, From Chris Christie to Susana Martinez (Photos) “It’s no secret...

Mortal Kombat mashups of high quality are usually the creative realm of fans of other kinds of fiction. But with this being an election year, and with predilection of political pundits to borrow from the pugilistic lexicon (it is, after all, called the political fray, where candidates battle for seats, and nominees fight for positions), the good people at Slate have reimagined NetherRealms Studios’ classic video game title as a deadly contest for the Presidency of the United States. Barack Obama and Mitt Romney battle would be contenders (including Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul, and Donald Trump) as they make their ascension up a tournament bracket to claim the title of Most Powerful Man in the World, one Finish Him move at a time. Running mates Joe Biden and Paul Ryan are scheduled to face off in the Veep undercard, as well. What makes this five-episode Political Kombat mini-series so engaging is the attention to detail.

Stem cells from embryos may finally cure patients-reviving a bitter debate. In this week's Newsweek, Sharon Begley reports from the front lines of the ethical battle.
Stem cells, it seems, have become almost as ubiquitous in medicine as stethoscopes. Yankees pitcher Bartolo Colon received injections of stem cells from his own fat and bone marrow to treat an injured shoulder and elbow, his doctor recently revealed. Meanwhile, a Texas hospital is testing whether stem cells from a patient's bone marrow will improve the effectiveness of cardiac bypass surgery. It's enough to suggest that the bitter religious, ethical, and political battles over stem cells that began in 1998 were pointless. If cells harvested from patients themselves can treat disease, perhaps there's no need to use ones obtained from human embryos-with all the questions that raises.

Forget Oliver Stone's W. (which is sorta boring if you ask me), we are going major and leaving no stone unturned as we set out to cast a feature film adaptation of the 2008 Presidential Election. From the media elite to the folks at the top of the ticket there is hardly a name we leave off this list and myself along with the help of my casting directors Laremy Legel and David Frank have put together a list of names that won't necessarily break the bank of our producers, but represent some of the finest talent in Hollywood and will be put to good use. Currently Eric Roth (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Forrest Gump and The Insider) is writing the script for Steven Soderbergh to direct. Roth has shown the ability to tap into a political thrill ride with The Insider but also shown a more comedic...

Flex Alexander will play Michael Jackson in an upcoming VH1 biopic about the embattled pop star. Alexander, star of the UPN sitcom One on One, will be joined by Eugene Clark (Reversible Errors), who will play Jackson's bodyguard and confidant. An accomplished dancer, Alexander's fleet feet helped land the actor the role. Tentatively titled Family Values, the film is expected to trace Jackson's troubled life from his Motown heyday to his current legal woes. In addition to VH1, the film also will air on Canadian channels the Movie Network and Movie Central. Values is in production in Calgary, Alberta, with Los Angeles-based company Blueprint Entertainment (HR 3/25). Executive produced by Jon Katzman (FX's Redemption), the film will be directed by Allan Moyle (Say Nothing) and written by Claudia Salter (Running Mates).
