The film has several paintings by René Magritte: "La reproduction interdite" (1937), over Man's bed is the most prominent. The surreal cinematography also references "Pilgrim" (1966) and possibly other works of his as well. Also featured over the bed is "Relativity" by M.C. Escher.
The only person with any dialogue is the narrator.
The main character 'The man' doesn't speak at all in the film.
Georges Perec who wrote the book the film is based on also wrote the films screenplay.
The film is the directorial debut of both Bernard Queysanne and Georges Perec.
