Exclusive: WWE Superstar Liv Morgan will make her film debut in Yale Entertainment’s darkly comic thriller, The Kill Room. She joins an ensemble that also includes Uma Thurman, Samuel L. Jackson, Joe Manganiello, Maya Hawke, Debi Mazar, Larry Pine, Dree Hemingway and Leah McSweeney, as previously announced.
The film centers on hitman Reggie (Manganiello), his boss (Jackson), an art dealer (Thurman) and their money laundering scheme that accidentally turns the hitman into an overnight Avant-Garde sensation, forcing the dealer to play the art world against the underworld. Morgan will play an art purist who bemoans the vapidness of art dealers.

Jordan Yale Levine, Jordan Beckerman, and Jon Keeyes are producing under their Yale Productions banner alongside Anne Clements of Idiot Savant Pictures, Paone, Thurman, Dannielle Thomas and Jason Weinberg from Untitled Entertainment, William Rosenfeld of Such Content, and Bill Kenwright of Bk Studios.

Anissa Bonnefont, whose latest film “Wonder Boy” won a Special Jury prize at Tribeca in 2020, has recently completed “Nadia,” a timely documentary feature about Nadia Nadim, the Afghan-born Danish soccer star.
Federation Entertainment produced the film with Echo Studio, in association with France’s Canal Plus, which commissioned it.
Penned by Bonnefont and Edith Chapin, the cinematic documentary tells the extraordinary life journey of Nadim, who was born and raised in Afghanistan. After the Taliban executed her father in 2000, when she was only eight years old, Nadia, along with her four sisters and mother, escaped Kabul by foot. The family sought asylum in Denmark where Nadia eventually became a champion on the national soccer team. She then joined the Paris-Saint-Germain women’s professional team and she’s currently planning at the Racing Louisville Football Club.

Thank the gods for brilliant screenwriters. That’s why they’re the most sought-after gold currency in today’s streaming wars, from Scott Frank (“The Queen’s Gambit”) and Peter Morgan (“The Crown”) to Phoebe Waller-Bridge (“Killing Eve”) and Lena Waithe (“The Chi”).
These scribes hole up in their lonely rooms and think and dream and write, conjuring characters, dialogue, scenes, and episodes that will grab viewers away from something else they could be watching. And a special few bring to life entire made-up worlds, including David Benioff and Dan Weiss (“Game of Thrones”), Ronald D. Moore (the reimagined “Battlestar Galactica”), and now, the creator of “Britannia,” lauded British playwright Jez Butterworth.
This is Butterworth’s first go-round as a showrunner. He’s written plenty of screenplays for Hollywood (“Ford v Ferrari”), but was driven away from his early directing ambitions by a miserable run-in at age 29 with Harvey Weinstein on his sophomore movie,...

Directed by former competitive swimmer Pascal Plante and featuring a two-time Olympic athlete in the title role, “Nadia, Butterfly” qualifies as both a sports movie and not-a-sports movie — which is to say, Plante’s aloof, intermittently engaging second feature takes a backstage look at a defining moment in a swimmer’s career, but it does so in a way that violates nearly all the rules of the game.
For starters, the film opens with the final race of Canadian swimmer Nadia Beaudry (Katerine Savard), at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, rather than building up to the big event and hitching drama on the question of whether she wins or loses. The genre has trained audiences to watch sports movies the way they do the events themselves, driven by the suspense of the outcome. Here, we know relatively early on that Nadia will go home with a medal, but not the best one,...

Canadian filmmaker Pascal Plante received that call for his sophomore feature film, Nadia, Butterfly and regardless of where this film eventually premieres, it’s that interaction with the first audience that will likely squash the irritation of not being on the Croisette.…...

Cannes Film Festival will not take place this year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but the official selection has still been unveiled. While no distinct sections were revealed, Thierry Frémaux and Pierre Lescure took the stage of an empty theater to share the 50-plus films that were accepted to screen at the festival. While those Cannes world premieres will not happen in person or digitally, these films will be able to show the prestigious laurels as they head to other festivals this fall and beyond–except Venice Film Festival, who have said they will not be part of their event.
“This Selection is here, and it’s a beautiful one,” Frémaux said. “Even though movie theatres have been shut for three months – for the first time since the invention of film screening by the Lumière Brothers on December 28, 1895 – this Selection reflects that cinema is more alive than ever. Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman has splashed out on an exclusive $7.5 million flat in New York. The leggy Australian star's new pad, in the trendy West Village area, is in a block with a restaurant, gym and 24-hour security. The Birthday Girl's neighbors will include fashion king Calvin Klein, who lives in the penthouse suite. On a clear day, Nicole, should she want to, would be able to make out the flat ex-husband Tom Cruise shares with lover Penelope Cruz in the city.

Hollywood star Nicole Kidman is to feature in a Christmas advertising campaign for a Spanish department store. Nicole, who last year was divorced from Hollywood star Tom Cruise, will be paid a six-figure sum to star in two television adverts for the chain, called El Corte. The ads will be directed by Alejandro Amenabar, who also directed Nicole in the horror film The Others. Up and coming actor Ben Chaplin has learned to love on-screen sex scenes - after getting jiggy with superstars Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock. The British hunk is grateful he got his romantic starts with two such impressive actresses. He says of his saucy scenes with Kidman in Birthday Girl, "Nicole is great. She's very used to love scenes. In Birthday Girl, probably one-twentieth of the racy stuff we shot made it into the movie. I found I lost my cherry on that one. I came out a veteran of sex scenes. Nicole was absolutely professional, but there was no coyness. She's very free. And if you're free and understand that it's just part of the job then you can actually get creative with the sex scenes." And lucky Chaplin also got down and dirty with co-star Bullock in new thriller Murder By Numbers. He explains, "Sandra gives me this foot job in our movie. It was an interesting scene. I just had to go with it and it was quite fun because Sandy has nice feet. She had a pedicure before the shoot. Sandy doesn't do that many love scenes so I felt honored to receive her foot."...

Ben Chaplin took his role opposite Nicole Kidman in new movie Birthday Girl so seriously - he got into character by working in a bank. The British star plays a light-fingered bank-teller John Buckingham in the new movie, whose life radically changes when his mail-order Russian bride, played by Kidman, arrives on his doorstep. But when Chaplin attempted to perfect his characterisation by taking a everyday role in a real bank he unwittingly became the prime suspect in the theft of thousands of pounds (dollars). He laughs, "I was given carte blanche to help them clear out the safe and the next day they were thousands of pounds down. I thought, did I put a bundle in my pocket? I remember instinctively putting my hands in my pockets to see if I had gotten so into character that I stole their money!" However, the actor was relieved to find the cause for the missing money was not due to his thorough acting style. "It was just a counting error," he says.

British actor Ben Chaplin hated the nude scenes he had to do with Nicole Kidman for their new movie Birthday Girl - because he just couldn't shake his embarrassment. While many men would do anything to romp naked with the Australian redhead, Chaplin, 31, says playing Kidman's love interest on film was a nerve-wracking nightmare. He explains, "It's truly awful doing these love scenes, because I'm very prone to getting embarrassed. We were just sitting around for days, sort of naked. Between takes, Nicole and I would look at each other and say the most God- awful, stupid things like, 'Can you believe this weather?' 'Do you think they'll serve the good fish for lunch?' It's almost like being in a doctor's office. You can't wait until it's over, even if it is Nicole Kidman across a bed from you."...
