What an awesome show!
This was my favorite cartoon when I was little. I'm surprised to see that it began airing in 1990, because to me, I group this show with the best of the great old 80s cartoons - this show HAD to have been on at some time in the late 80s. In those glorious days before school began, I can remember many mornings lying on my stomach in front of the TV with my coloring book, watching The Littl' Bits on Nick Jr.
Most of my memories of the show have probably been garbled over the years. The show itself was a lot like The Smurfs, The Snorks, or other 80s cartoons, involving little forest creatures no bigger than your thumb. The Littl' Bits were little people who lived in mushrooms, trees, and the like.
It's been so long since I've seen the show that I don't even remember too much of it. I recall a few episodes - one in which the kids found a horse, and a two-parter that kept us 5-year-olds on the edge of our seats, about the kids running away to go to the beach. I also remember a lot about Lillabit (I believe that's her name), who had that awesome flying squirrel! She was an orphan and lived with the village doctor who was always sleeping. In one episode her parents came back to get her, but the village like rejected them, but Lillabit stood up for them...or so the memory plays in my mind. I really don't know how accurate it is. Then there was Williebit, the boy, and he had a little sister. There was another boy who was kinda bratty and annoying. He was the mayor's son (?). And like every 80s cartoon, there was a wise old character, aptly named Elderbit.
I have no idea how accurate or badly tainted these memories are, but this is a show that has a special place in my memory like so many other 80s cartoons. If Nick brought back this show, along with their other great old shows like Hey Dude and Salute Your Shorts, I'd be in nostalgia heaven.
