The first episode is set largely in Newcastle and the sepia stills in the opening titles show local scenes (the Tyne and swing bridges, Grey's monument and the castle). The remainder of the series takes place in Edinburgh and the titles show scenes from there: Edinburgh Castle, the West End of Princes Street, the rear of Register House and the Dean Village.
The original Broadway production of "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie" by Jay Presson Allen opened at the Helen Hayes Theater in New York on January 16, 1968 and ran for 379 performances.
