Ashley Judd grew up in the spotlight. As the daughter of the iconic country music singer Naomi Judd, she was raised with an understanding of fame. And she has had to navigate her own way through the trials and tribulations of life as a media sensation. Still, Judd developed early on a sense of what her own needs were. Over the years, Judd has opened up about why she has chosen not to have children of her own. Instead, she prefers to focus her attention on orphaned and underprivileged youth.

Actor whose best known role in a seven-decade career came in a Harry Potter film in her 80s
The actor Hazel Douglas, who has died aged 92, landed her most prominent role in her 80s, when she joined the starry cast of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 (2010), as Bathilda Bagshot, the author of A History of Magic, a textbook used at Hogwarts school, and great-aunt of the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald. And there were more performances to come in a stage and screen career that altogether spanned seven decades.
In the ITV series Vicious, Ian McKellen and Derek Jacobi played Freddie and Stuart, a longstanding and quarrelsome couple. Hazel joined them in 2013 as Mildred, Stuart’s no-nonsense mother, failing to understand the relationship between the two men. In Elephants Can Remember, an episode of Agatha Christie’s Poirot from the same year with David Suchet, Zoë Wanamaker and Greta Scacchi,...

Charlie Hunnam's shocking exit from Fifty Shades of Grey left Hollywood scrambling to find a quick replacement to fill the role of Christian Grey in the upcoming movie adaptation of the erotic literary sensation. Here's what you need to know about some of the rumored front-runners for the part. • Scott Eastwood: Aside from his iconic last name, the 27-year-old son of Clint Eastwood seemingly rose to fame overnight after posing for a sexy Town & Country shoot and posting a shirtless shot from the set of the World War II drama Fury, which also stars Brad Pitt. Even Vanity Fair endorsed this hottie.

This period of economic hardship hasn't brought about the predicted burst of creativity – instead it's More of the Same
It's said there are only seven master plots in fiction (or five, or 20, depending on who's counting). But at the current rate of rehash, scientists predict there will be only seven master franchises come 2025. These will include: Spiderman (played by a different 26-year-old every three years); that thing with Vin Diesel and the cars (Fast and Forty-fourious will see the gang of ageing speedsters pull off a heist on mobility scooters); and any amount of spun-off Star Wars characters (to be tired of Boba Fett's backstory is to be tired of life). Oh, and Poldark.
Poldark's back, in case you missed the news, or perhaps assumed the reports had wormed through some tear in the commissioning continuum from 1996, which is the last time the 18th-century Cornish romantic saga was revived.

Murdoch Mysteries is one of the best gems to come out of Canadian television in quite a while, and the fourth season is now available on Blu-Ray. Whether you’re a fan already, or new to the show, I have a great giveaway to go along with this release. The first season and the fourth season on Blu-Ray.
The show takes place in Toronto in 1895, and features William Murdoch as a detective/scientist who is keen on incorporating the latest techniques (including the “finger marks” he is so fond of) into his investigations.
Season 4 kicks off with Murdoch butting heads with the new pathologist who has taken Dr. Ogden’s place. A body has been dismembered, and Murdoch has to find some answers using only a couple of pieces of a body which have been encased in cement. It starts off the season well, and gives us the opportunity to miss Dr.

Actress Kristen Stewart’s upcoming film, Snow White and the Huntsman, has finally cast Snow White’s father. I was rather impressed by the concept art we previewed for the fairy tale film. Not only does Snow White get to wear armor, but the Huntsman, also known as actor Chris Hemsworth, is looking great in brown hair, a transition for Thor‘s blonde tresses. The last we heard, Lily Cole was signing on to act in the film, but now Noah Huntley joins her.
Huntley has acted in The Mists of Avalon as Gawain, in Megiddo: The Omega Code 2, in the Midsomer Murders episode called, “Who Killed Cock Robin”, in the Where the Heart Is episode called, “Don’t Let Go,” and in 28 Days Later. Now, he will act as Snow White’s father according to a Tweet from producer Palak Patel.

Claire Foy stars as 18 year old Erin Matthews in Peter Kosminsky's new four-part drama serial The Promise, a powerful tale of love, war and betrayal, telling the stories of Erin and Len - two young people caught up in the same struggle more than 60 years apart.
Just as 18-year-old Londoner Erin sets off to spend summer in Israel with her best friend, Eliza, she unearths an old diary belonging to her seriously ill grandfather, Len. Intrigued by the life of this old man she barely knows, she takes the diary with her, and is stunned to learn of his part in the post-wwii British peace-keeping force in what was then Palestine.
Left to her own devices when Eliza begins National Service in the Israeli army, Erin witnesses the complexities of life - for both Jews and Arabs - in this troubled land. And as Len's story comes to life...
