The movie received solid reviews from Roger Ebert and other national critics. It even took home prizes from the Chicago Underground and South By Southwest film festivals.
The movie's edgy subject matter and an expensive soundtrack kept it shelved even though it was already finished. The filmmakers only got rights for the music to use at film festivals. It would have cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to get the full rights to the songs for distribution.
Honey Lauren told Femme Fatales magazine in 1999 that this film was her most challenging and controversial part to date.
