Married at First Sight fans have been wondering for years if there is a financial incentive for taking the time to film a Lifetime season. Recently, the Kinetic Content CEO dished on whether or not cast members are cashing checks. So, what did they have to say?
Married At First Sight: Marrying A Stranger Has Proven To Be Popular
Even though Married at First Sight fans largely agree that the show has gone down the tubes over the last few seasons, the premise of marrying a stranger at the altar without seeing them beforehand has been drawing in viewers since the show first premiered.
A decade and 17 seasons later, Married at First Sight is still a popular show among viewers. In addition, with popular streaming services picking up seasons of the show, these platforms are exposing new audiences to older seasons, viewers who may not have been aware that a show like this existed.

It’s a fairly big month on Prime Video in March, at least compared to the other streaming service offerings! There are are two major films arriving on Amazon’s streamer. The first is a remake of the Patrick Swayze action classic Road House. Stepping into the late Swayze’s shoes? A crazy-jacked Jake Gyllenhaal, who really seemed to want to go the extra mile for this project.
The other big film coming to Prime Video is Ricky Stanicky, and the plot sounds really fun! It follows three friends who have always blamed their mistakes on an imaginary guy called Ricky Stanicky. When they have to finally introduce people to Stanicky, they decide to hire a washed-up actor (John Cena) to impersonate him. Hilarity ensues, maybe? But if neither of those make your watchlist, there’s also the return of the animated hit series Invincible.

Johnny Lam just proved that he didn’t need the Married at First Sight experts to find his perfect match – and at this point, who does?
The Season 13 alum recently proposed to his girlfriend, Kayla Fisher, and in case you’re wondering, she said “yes” to the romantic gesture.
It’s been a rocky road to love for Johnny, who became one of the most hated cast members during his season after he was paired with Bao Huong Hoang.
The pair initially seemed to be a good fit, thanks to shared cultural backgrounds, but that’s where the similarities ended.
Johnny was not impressed with his new wife and had a lengthy complaint list about her each week.
His behavior garnered backlash from viewers, and eventually, Bao grew frustrated when her efforts to work on their marriage went unappreciated.

After it was released in 1999, Almost Famous wound up on a lot of critics’ year-end best picture lists, and for good reason. Sentimental without being saccharine, it’s a film in which the wide-eyed enthusiasm of youth runs head-on into the world-weary realization of having peaked too soon as you take that long, slow downhill dive. The screenplay won an Oscar for director and writer Cameron Crowe and as soon as she’d read it, Kate Hudson told us before the movie was released, she knew she was going to be part of something special. I have got to admit that I didn’t expect much from Netflix’s new Australian rom-com Love is in the Air. The plot seemed way too basic, and the trailer was not particularly impressive either. It was an assignment that I quickly wanted to get done with. Well, I am not claiming that this film is a masterpiece or even something that I will remember six months from now, but saying that director Adrian Powers has actually proven my assumption quite wrong would be the right thing.
Getting rom-coms right is a tricky business. The biggest challenge is probably escaping the predictability of the basic template associated with the genre. Two people are meeting under strange circumstances, stuff is happening, they are falling in love, getting together, and everybody is going home happy by the end; this is what I am specifically referring to. So the question is, how do you spice things up?...

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight author Jennifer E. Smith has nothing but praise for Love at First Sight, the 2023 Netflix adaptation of her 2011 bestselling novel. The new trailer introduces the two strangers whose meet-cute occurs in an airport. Haley Lu Richardson (White Lotus) and Ben Hardy (Bohemian Rhapsody) star as the couple who experience a much more enjoyable flight than most travelers.
Author Smith told Netflix’s Tudum that she’s thrilled with Richardson and Hardy as the leads. “They are such a great Hadley and Oliver. They’re so charming and winning, and they have great chemistry. They just did right by the characters,” said Smith.

Clint didn’t exactly make the best impression when he was introduced on Married at First Sight Season 16. Initially, the Nashville groom came off as a cocky womanizer. Dr. Fenwa Milhouse wants to destigmatize “down there” care. The Chicago-based urologist stars in TLC’s Dr. Down Below, a medical reality show that explores an often-misunderstood area of healthcare. She recently talked with Showbiz Cheat Sheet about her passion for her work and what she hopes people take away from the program.

The first thing to know about urology? It involves more than men and their penises.
“People think urology super narrow, but it’s actually broad,” Milhouse said. In addition to dealing with “any kind of urinary issue” for men and women, urologists can treat sexual health issues in both genders, such as male infertility or pain during intercourse.

It’s not unusual for some Married at First Sight couples to flame out before Decision Day. It happened in season 14, when Chris and Alyssa called it quits after less than two weeks of marriage. Season 10 couple Mindy and Zach also went their separate ways before the eight-week experiment was up.
A teaser for Married at First Sight Season 16 hints that...

Olivia Cornu recaps the latest Mafs episode. Pic credit: Lifetime
Olivia Cornu knows all about the fast-paced Married at First Sight process, and she had some thoughts on the couples after they moved in together.
Things went smoothly for some of the Season 15 matches, but one unlikely pair had a moment that could very well spell the end of their marriage.
Olivia understands the complexities of sharing a space with someone you barely know, even if that person is your spouse.
Things didn’t bode too well for Olivia and her then-husband Brett Lindsey during Season 11 when we first met them on the show.
They, too, struggled with trying to mesh their lives during the move-in process, and things continued to go downhill until it finally imploded, and Brett walked away from the marriage.
The couple has since divorced, and Olivia hasn’t spilled any details about a new relationship...

Welcome to The B-Side, from The Film Stage. Here we talk about movie stars! Not the movies that made them famous or kept them famous, but the ones they made in between.
Today, we discuss one of the most intriguing actors of his generation: Val Kilmer! To tackle such an enigma, we bring in the legendary Katie Walsh! A must-follow on Twitter, a co-host of the insatiably-entertaining Miami Nice Podcast, and an accomplished writer. The B-Sides featured today are: Kill Me Again, At First Sight, The Salton Sea, and Mindhunters.
We discuss how Kilmer was a prodigy––the youngest student admitted into Juilliard’s drama department––before his Broadway debut in the (ultimately) star-studded Slab Boys. There’s talk of his well-documented penchant to be difficult on set, as well as those who defended him and his abilities.

Fresh off of her second Tony Award victory last year for “The Sound Inside,” Mary-Louise Parker has earned a follow-up nomination in the same category for her work in the revival of Paula Vogel’s Pulitzer Prize-winning “How I Learned to Drive.” Parker returned to the haunting piece 25 years after she originated the role Off-Broadway, reuniting with costars David Morse – who also reaped a bid – and Johanna Day, plus director Mark Brokaw.
This nomination not only celebrates her exemplary performance, but also moves Parker into an extremely exclusive list of performers who have earned at least five nominations in the Best Play Actress category. Her first bid dates back to 1990, when she contended for “Prelude to a Kiss.” Over a decade later, Parker earned her second nomination for “Proof” and went on to win the prize. In the following two decades, she earned another nom for “Reckless” in 2005 and last year for “The Sound Inside,...

To most people, the idea of marrying someone the very moment you meet them sounds absolutely insane. Lifetime, however, has proven that that idea isn’t as crazy as some people think. Since 2014, the series Married at First Sight has done exactly that. Each season, people sign up to allow a group of ‘experts’ to pair them with a potential life partner based on different areas of compatibility. Before walking to the alter, each person literally knows nothing about their spouse. Still, they agree to enter into a legally binding marriage. Since the show is technically an experiment, the couples

Sight Unseen Pictures, the production company behind Justin Simien’s Sundance thriller, Bad Hair, has nabbed the film rights to Bess Kalb’s memoir, Nobody Will Tell You This But Me. Elizabeth Chomko, who made her directorial debut with What They Had, starring Hilary Swank and Michael Shannon, will direct the feature adaptation.
Kalb, an Emmy-nominated and Writers Guild award-winning writer for Jimmy Kimmel Live!, will pen the screenplay. Kalb has also written for the Oscars and Emmys and is a regular contributor to The New Yorker’s Daily Shouts.

Exclusive: Bad Hair, one of the buzz titles at Sundance since it premiered last Thursday at The Ray, is nearing a worldwide rights deal north of $8 million with Hulu, sources said. Pic is a horror satire directed by Dear White People creator Justin Simien, and it has been chased hard by suitors I’ve heard included Lionsgate and Netflix.
It looks like Hulu will make this its second major deal of Sundance, this after the $17.5 (plus 69 cents) for Palm Springs. Hulu made that deal with Neon, and it will have to add a theatrical distributor for Bad Hair because the deal calls for a global theatrical release with a P&a spend.
Simien’s Dear White People has turned into a TV series, and he is shaping up to be a strong multicultural world creator. As for the film’s financier, Sight Unseen, this is the second big deal of the last two festivals,...

It's been close to two decades since Romy and Michele's High School Reunion arrived in theaters delivering what has proven to be a truly perfect mashup of 80s and 90s pop culture. Looking back, this movie is so 90s it's like not even funny... Except it is funny. (Obviously.) If the film were a person, it'd be graduating high school around this time, so what better time to take a look at the talented cast of the 1997 comedy to see what they've been up to since Tucson (Wooo!). Mira Sorvino (Romy White) Mira Sorvino was coming off an Oscar win for Mighty Aphrodite when she took on the role of Romy White in Romy and Michele. Since then, her credits have included At First Sight, Union Square, and more recently, she played the part of Sara in TNT's Falling Skies. %NEW_PAGE% Lisa Kudrow (Michele Weinberger) Friends was already on...

Donning the cape and tights to play a big screen superhero was often seen as career suicide for actors. This idea is mined to brilliant effect in Alejandro González Iñárritu's Birdman, with a former comic book star looking to relaunch his career with an ambitious Broadway play.
Adding extra spice to Birdman is the casting of Michael Keaton, himself a former Batman whose post-tights career has been somewhat hit and miss. This film, however, is a stunning reminder of just how good an actor Keaton is and proof that careers don't end when on-screen superpowers fade away.
Digital Spy takes a look at 20 ex-superhero stars to see how they fared after leaving an iconic comic book role behind.

Let us play the “Name Game”, shall we? Since we all are part of the experience here at the entertainment website known as Sound on Sight maybe we should pay homage to our online destination by celebrating it in an unconventional manner? Specifically, we can recognize Sound on Sight by acknowledging movie names that contain the words “sound” and “sight” in their titles.
However you may perceive this experimentation as being rather gimmicky and silly please realize that this movie column is also a means to recognize a few movie titles that are unfamiliar or perhaps a first-time discovery to some of you out there that never heard some of these cinematic selections. There may be a couple of well-known films in the bunch but collectively the features being mentioned in Sound on Sight: Top 10 Random “Sound” and “Sight” Movie Titles are aptly presented based on the theme at hand.
