David Gail, an actor known for his roles on “Beverly Hills, 90210” and the “General Hospital” spinoff “Port Charles,” died Tuesday due to complications from sudden cardiac arrest. He was 58.
“Gail was found unresponsive by emergency personnel who made every attempt to save his life including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and defibrillation,” a statement shared with Variety reads. “Despite their efforts, Gail was put on life support where he remained for several days. He was pronounced dead on Jan. 16, 2024.”
Gail’s sister, Katie Colmenares, paid tribute to the actor in an Instagram post on Saturday, writing, “There’s barely been even a day in my life when you were not with me by my side.”
Colmenares continued, “Always my wingman always my best friend ready to face anything and anyone w me the bears will never be the same but I will hold you so tight every day in my heart...

This article contains spoilers for WandaVision episode 3.
As we’ve now come to expect from WandaVision, the most unsettling moment of the spinoff’s latest episode arrived during its final minutes, when Wanda’s mysterious Westview pal ‘Geraldine’ showed her hand a bit after Wanda mentioned that she was a twin, just like her new bouncing baby boys.
Geraldine (Teyonah Parris), who the residents of Westview are suspicious of because she’s new to town and doesn’t have a home, is actually a grown up Monica Rambeau in the Disney+ series. We last saw Monica as child during the 90s-set Captain Marvel, and she’s most likely working for Sword in the world of WandaVision. The organization appears to rush to her aid when she is ejected from Wanda’s reality for the crime of breaking through to her in the midst of this strangely-constructed reality.

Deadpool is coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While the X-Men Cinematic Universe fizzled out as Disney bought out Fox, it doesn’t take a marketing genius to remember that Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson is a license to print money. Much like Jk Simmons reprised his role as J. Jonah Jameson in Spider-Man: Far From Home, we’re once again going to see Reynolds as Deadpool because if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! And even if he was broken, Deadpool has the innate ability to fix hims—
Sorry, got lost there.
They aren’t just going to reintroduce the character like Jameson, though. We’re getting Deadpool 3 and it’s going to be rated R. This will be a sequel…but in a different continuity than its first two films. Interesting novelty.

The X-Men are coming to the MCU. Or so we’ve been told for the past couple of years now. We’ve known that mutantkind were due to be folded into Marvel Studios’ universe ever since Disney finalized their takeover of Fox in early 2019, but so far, no X-related projects have been officially revealed to be in the works. Indeed, last month brought news that Marvel was rebooting Fantastic Four, also formerly owned by Fox, but nothing was said about the X-Men.
Kevin Feige has been doing press to promote WandaVision‘s arrival on Disney Plus this week, though, and he’s finally opened up about where he’s at with introducing the Children of the Atom into the MCU. While speaking to ScreenRant, the Marvel Studios president reiterated his passion for the characters and revealed that “discussions” are well underway behind the scenes.
“You know how much I love the X-Men.

Marvel Studios acquired the rights to the X-Men and Fantastic Four at the same time, but the mutants will be a much tougher nut to crack for Kevin Feige and his team. After all, the comic book icons have already starred in thirteen movies of wildly varying quality over the last two decades, with Fox’s time at the helm resulting in the seventh highest-grossing franchise in history with over $6 billion at the box office.
On the other hand, the Fantastic Four have been the subjects of four feature films, the very best of which could be generously described as mediocre, and Josh Trank’s 2015 reboot in particular rightly regarded as one of the worst superhero blockbusters ever made. With casual audiences at least, the team just doesn’t have the same sort of name value or cultural cache as the X-Men, making them much fairer game for a reboot.

Alfonso Cuaron’s Children of Men is the dystopian science fiction movie you should watch this Christmas.
“The best christmas sci-fi movie isn’t very cheery. When thinking about holiday movies, spirited romcoms like Happiest Season and family-friendly fare probably come to mind. Children of Men, Alfonso Cuaron’s gritty, sci-fi masterpiece may not even be on the radar as a go-to Christmas movie, but it should be.”

Does your family hang a pickle on your Christmas tree? Learn about the origin of this curious tradition.
“Every family has its own holiday traditions. Maybe they open Christmas presents after dinner. Perhaps they hang stockings up for their pet. Some might display homemade decorations. Others might hide a Christmas pickle ornament in their tree, as simplemost highlights.”

Since making his film debut in 1989’s Going Overboard, Adam Sandler has tackled almost every conceivable genre. Of course, he’s best known for the comedies that turned him into one of the most recognizable stars in the business, which has since evolved into him becoming the biggest draw on the world’s most popular streaming service, but the Happy Madison head honcho is still willing to try new things, even if he doesn’t do it particularly often.
Obviously, most of his non-comedic work comes when his production company aren’t calling the shots, but Sandler is a much more versatile talent than people give him credit for. Dramatic performances in Punch-Drunk Love, Reign Over Me, The Meyerowitz Stories, Men, Women & Children and Uncut Gems were all warmly received, he proved a surprisingly effective romantic lead in Spanglish and Blended, and he even made a buddy action movie in the mid-90s,...

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige made it official at Thursday’s (December 10) four-hour Disney investors call and presentation: the Fantastic Four, Marvel’s First Family, are being rebooted as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Jon Watts, director of Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far from Home, will helm the Four’s new movie, which Feige says is “being developed.”
Feige didn’t say anything else about the Fantastic Four reboot, but as usual at these kinds of events, it was also about what he didn’t say: that the Four will take precedence over the X-Men in terms of joining the McU.
To be clear, the X-Men will become part of the McU at some point. Feige hinted as much at Comic-Con 2019 when he randomly blurted out the word “mutants” toward the end of Marvel’s big Hall H presentation. But the X-Men were not mentioned at today’s rapid-fire,...

Back in the Spring the first issue of this book slipped out, though I don’t think its launch got quite the reception Marvel was expecting. I think it did Ok, but wasn’t a game changer as such. The book was two things. One, the start of a semi-regular companion book to the series of Marvels: Snapshots one-shots, all of which have been excellent by the way. Two, the chance for Alex Ross to finally set out his original idea that in the past had ended up as the groundbreaking Marvels book. The New Mutants, now available to watch on streaming, is the final outing in Fox’s eclectic X-Men film franchise. While Marvel Studios’ finally confirmed Deadpool 3 is a wild card in how it connects to anything, that’s in Disney’s hands now. Otherwise, we have 13 movies in 20 years celebrating superpowers as a metaphor for real-life prejudice. But only in the end, did the X-Men franchise really start to open up to a universe where mutants aren’t the explanation to everything outlandish.
One of the reasons the Avengers movies worked out so well was the contrast. It was a tech super-genius, a super-soldier from another era, a science-based anger monster, a Norse god, and two hyper-competent humans teaming up against an alien invasion. This felt fresh and right for a comic book universe. For X-Men, they didn’t embrace such an...

Exclusive: Amazon Studios has set an end date for The Expanse. The popular sci-fi drama has received an early renewal for Season 6, which will be its last. Not returning for the final season is original cast member Cas Anvar, who faced a slew of sexual misconduct allegations during the summer. The rest of the cast, led by Steven Strait, and longtime Expanse showrunner Naren Shankar will be back.
The Season 6 renewal comes three weeks before the December 16 Season 5 debut on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories. I hear Season 6 tentatively is slated to begin production Janusary 20, with the target start date subject to change amid fluid pandemic conditions.

The possibility of seeing Captain Marvel as the McU’s first mutant is highly dependent on how the McU is going to bring in the X-Men since otherwise, she’ll just be a very lucky human being that managed to survive an explosion that bombarded her with energy from the Tesseract that turned her into the super-powered individual she is at this point. The Fantastic Four may well be Marvel’s first family but the X-Men are very much my family. I was a fan of the animated series as a kid and like most people was drawn to Wolverine and the infrequent appearances of Cable. There was something about Rogue that a young me didn’t understand! Things really took off when the first X-Men movie hit, it was my gateway to the comics. I don’t know why I made the leap from the movie to the comics. At the time I didn’t really have any hobbies. I remember being heavy into Star Wars when the new trilogy was in the works, but it ultimately left a bitter taste. The Christmas after the movie came out I got Peter Sanderson’s excellent Ultimate X-Men book. It open my mind to a richer history of content greater than the animated series and the movie.

When most people think of superhero movies nowadays, it’s either the juggernaut McU or the periodically entertaining Dceu, but the resurgence of such films began several years prior to big budget shared universes. Non-x-Men titles that came out in the decade between the releases of Blade and Iron Man often get forgotten about, unfortunately, but two of these, Superman Returns and Ghost Rider, are now available on Netflix.
Although 2006’s Superman Returns cast the then-unknown Brandon Routh as the Last Son of Krypton, it was intended as a direct sequel to 1980’s Superman II. As such, Routh got the part partially due to his resemblance to Christopher Reeve, displaying the same fusion of humble charm and superpowered indomitability.

Set in the picturesque landscapes of rural France, The Man in the Hat (played by Game of Thrones star Ciarán Hinds) journeys across the country in his Fiat 500 with nothing but a framed photo of an unknown woman on the passenger’s seat. After witnessing what seems to be something of a criminal nature, he takes off and starts the adventure of a lifetime, however, he is somewhat ‘followed’ by the Five Angry Men in a Citroën Dyane. The cars, along with the jaunty french music, gives quite a nostalgic feel, and brings back memories of when good old Mr Bean was back on our screens in 2007 with Mr Bean’s Holiday. Albeit he had a yellow Mini, and not a blue Fiat 500, but it was nostalgic and similar nonetheless.
Written and directed by John-Paul Davidson and Stephen Warbeck, The Man in the Hat is a weird and wonderful yet wacky piece of comical entertainment.

There are delayed movies, and then there’s “The New Mutants.” Originally slated for an April 2018 release before being pushed back to February of the following year, it was then delayed another six months so as not to compete with “Dark Phoenix.” Then Disney’s acquisition of Fox pushed the film back to April of this year, by which time theaters were already closed due to the pandemic. Now it finally arrives at what could charitably be described as an inopportune moment: in the middle of that same pandemic, which is very much not over.
The first, most important question any potential moviegoer has to ask themselves is whether seeing this or any film is worth the risk inherent in venturing to a movie theater. I won’t presume to answer that question on anyone else’s behalf, but suffice to say that “New Mutants” isn’t exactly a groundbreaking cinematic experience.

Arriving this week in physical theaters is The New Mutants, the last X-Men movie produced under the 20th Century Fox banner before Disney bought its rival studio and absorbed all its film properties, including the Marvel franchises previously optioned by Fox.
Based on the comics created in 1982 by writer Chris Claremont and artist Bob McLeod, The New Mutants tells the story of five young mutants, each with their own powers. They are being held in a secret facility against their wills and seek a way to escape, all while discovering the extent of their abilities.
While The New Mutants is technically a spin-off of Fox’s main X-Men movies, director and co-writer Josh Boone intended to give it its own feel — specifically, that of a horror movie. But plans were also afoot to connect the fledgling team to the larger universe of the X-Men through the time-honored tradition of the post-credits sequence.

The ongoing online battle between Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds has become the stuff of legend, with the two A-list stars never missing out on an opportunity to take shots at each other, and that even includes creating marketing campaigns for their non-Hollywood ventures entirely for the purpose of cracking a joke at the other’s expense.

There are countless questions surrounding the X-Men’s inevitable debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with rumors already swirling about how the studio will introduce the idea of the mutant gene into a mythology that’s existed for well over a decade at this point, not to mention how they’ll manage to put a fresh spin on characters we’ve already seen star in a dozen movies of wildly inconsistent quality.
Perhaps the single biggest question though is how Marvel are planning to handle Wolverine. Hugh Jackman’s tenure as the mutton-chopped mutant saw the actor become inextricably linked with the role, with his stint establishing his take on Logan as both one of the most enduring marriages of star and character in recent history, as well as one of 21st Century cinema’s most iconic figures.

Frank Carr is the founder of YippieFest and the coordinator of the virtual and online version, which will be available at YippieFest.com through Twitch. All the information is available by clicking here.
YippieFest is an offshoot and continuation of the old “Abbie Hoffman Died for Our Sins” festival, which reigned in Wrigleyville for 27 years. Frank Carr wanted to keep the spirit of “Abbie” alive, and moved the newly renamed “YippieFest” to the Northwest side at the Prop Theater (Elston and Addison) and began in 2017. The funky hangout and two stages at Prop was perfect for the blend of theater, music, film, comedy and performance. But like all the theaters and events in Chicago, the...

For all of the missteps Fox’s X-Men movies made over the years, most fans would agree that they got one thing perfect: Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. After the claw-popping mutant’s big sendoff in Logan and Marvel reclaiming the screen rights to the franchise, there’s a vacancy in the McU’s Wolverine department, but whoever takes on this role is faced with the daunting prospect of following one of the toughest acts in comic book movie history.
If the latest reports are anything to go by, Marvel already has an actor in mind for the new Wolvie, with Stranger Things star Dacre Montgomery said to be on the studio’s shortlist. Shorter and less macho than Jackman, Montgomery may not be the obvious choice for Logan, but digital artist Apexform believes he’d be ideal and has now thrown together a concept design to prove it.

Since Disney took ownership of Wolverine as part of their Fox buyout last year, the future of the character has been up in the air. At the moment, Hugh Jackman remains steadfast in his refusal to return even for a cameo (though the studio are reportedly trying with everything they’ve got to change his mind). But just because Jackman is done doesn’t mean we’ve seen the last of the character.
It’s been a subject of speculation ever since Logan as to who will succeed him as cinema’s second Wolvie. Admittedly, some fan picks are more likely than others and this particularly left-field suggestion falls firmly into the “others” category. As you can see below, this piece of fan art imagines what Shia Labeouf, yes, Shia Labeouf, would look like with the famous claws.
Fans can have their fantasies, too, alright? Especially fantasies that no one else shares.

The Walt Disney Company likes to trumpet their progressive credentials at every opportunity. For example, when two women kissed somewhere in the background of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, they billed it as a big step forward for representation. These tiny gestures have often frustrated fans though, as they’re quite rightly argued as being inconsequential additions designed to tick a ‘woke’ box.
Still, Disney did come out in support of Black Lives Matter in the wake of the murder of George Floyd. They posted a message saying they stand with “the entire Black community” and pledged $5 million to BLM-related causes.
All of which makes it a bit of a head-scratcher that they quietly erased the iconic BLM fist from the cover of 2019 comic Miles Morales: Spider-Man #9. The symbol has long been used to represent Civil Rights movements and since the murder of Michael Brown in 2014 has become associated with BLM protests.

Over the weekend, we heard that Marvel Studios is keen to find a role for Shia Labeouf in the McU, with one part that they’re currently considering him for being Iceman. As the former Transformers star isn’t the first person you’d jump to as the perfect fit for Bobby Drake, the news has been hotly debated on social media. But what could Labeouf look like as the famed X-Men member?
Digital artist Mizuri has created some artwork that imagines the actor suiting up as Drake. Seen below, the piece dresses Labeouf in a Fox-style all-black combat suit, gives him a frosty glare and transforms his left side into ice. Plus, he’s depicted as standing in front of the iconic “Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters” sign. All things considered, he doesn’t look too bad here.

As a founding member of the X-Men, Iceman has been an integral part of the team’s comic book history for over half a century, but on the big screen, it never felt like the character was given much to do besides acting as Rogue’s doe-eyed love interest. Shawn Ashmore tried his best with the limited material that he was given, but despite starring in four of the Fox movies, his Bobby Drake never managed to leave much of an impression.
With the mutants set to rebooted as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the smartest thing Kevin Feige and his team could do to differentiate their approach to Charles Xavier’s students from the twelve-movie Fox franchise is to focus on heroes that we either haven’t seen in live-action before, or were severely underused by Fox.

Humor me on this one. There’s a history of actors crossing the divide from one superhero franchise to another. For instance, Michael Keaton starred as the Caped Crusader in Tim Burton’s Batman movies, before battling Tom Holland’s Spider-Man as Vulture in the McU.
Similarly, Christian Bale is set to make the same jump from The Dark Knight to Marvel baddie in Thor: Love and Thunder. So, why not get behind Michael Fassbender to play The Flash’s arch nemesis Reverse-Flash? He’s already established his supervillain credentials as Magneto in the X-Men universe. Plus, he has a perfect evil smile for it.
Or at least, that’s what Instagram artist @Spdrmnkyxxiii pointed out when sharing their fan realization of the concept. See below for their take on how Fassbender would look as the Reverse-Flash:

Shia Labeouf may only be 34 years old, but he’s been working solidly for over 20 years now and already finds himself in the midst of the fourth distinctive stage of his constantly-evolving career.
Having broken out as a child star and appeared in the likes of Even Stevens, The X-Files, ER and Holes, he became a fixture in big budget box office hits after leading Michael Bay’s first three Transformers movies, Eagle Eye and Disturbia, along with snagging supporting roles in I, Robot, Constantine, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.
From there, he turned his back on mainstream fare and frequently found himself in the headlines for his bizarre and eccentric behavior, before reinventing himself yet again as an acclaimed dramatic talent that always fully immerses himself into his characters. In fact, he’s even been labeled as the finest actor of his generation.

When the first X-Men movie opened in July 2000, the film featured a mix of founding X-Men team members like Cyclops (James Marsden) and Jean Grey (Famke Janssen) plus later recruits like Storm (Halle Berry), Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), and Rogue (Anna Paquin).
But fans of the original Stan Lee/Jack Kirby comics knew that several members of the original team lineup, namely Beast and Angel, were nowhere to be found in the movie, while Iceman (Shawn Ashmore) was portrayed as a student at the Xavier School and did not join the team officially until the third film, X-Men: The Last Stand (where Angel also made his debut).
It turns out, however, that Beast, a.k.a. Dr. Hank McCoy — whose brilliant intellect is matched only by his superhuman strength and blue-furred appearance — was in several drafts of the first X-Men movie, along with the similarly blue-skinned, teleporting Nightcrawler.

I Am Woman stars Tilda Cobham-Hervey (Hotel Mumbai), Danielle Macdonald and Evan Peters and is being released in theaters and on demand September 11th.. Check out the trailer:
From up-and-coming female filmmaker, Unjoo Moon (The Zen of Bennett), the biopic tells the story of Helen Reddy (Tilda Cobham-Hervey), the fiercely ambitious Australian singer behind the 1971 megahit “I Am Woman” that became an anthem for the women’s liberation movement. Helen finds an encouraging friend in legendary rock journalist Lillian Roxon (Danielle Macdonald) while ambitious aspiring talent manager Jeff Wald (Evan Peters) becomes both Helen’s husband and manager and, with a strong push from Helen herself, secures her a recording contract.
This is really an inspiring story of a woman who smashed through the patriarchal norms of her time to become an international singing superstar. The film premiered at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival along with a performance...

Back in 1999 as the first X-Men film was developed and produced, executive producer Lauren Shuler Donner promoted a 26-year-old assistant in her office to the role of associate producer on the movie, thanks to his encyclopedic knowledge of the Marvel Comics universe from which the X-Men had sprung.
That associate producer’s name was Kevin Feige, and based off his work on X-Men, he was hired by then-Marvel Studios head Avi Arad as his second in command. From that point on, Feige became Marvel’s president of production in 2007, and was eventually named head of Marvel Studios after the company was purchased by Disney in 2009.
He is widely credited as the architect of the multi-billion-dollar Marvel Cinematic Universe, leading the charge to introduce heroes like Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and others in their own films before teaming them up in a series of epics as the Avengers.

Before George A. Romero passed away in 2017, the legendary filmmaker was working on a novel — his first — called The Living Dead.
Conceived as an epic reboot/reinvention of the zombie horror genre he defined with his landmark 1968 film Night of the Living Dead, the book was set to encompass the entire world of Romero’s six Dead movies — including classics like Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead — while giving him the kind of free creative reign he never quite enjoyed with his films.
But we sadly lost Romero at the age of 77 three years ago, and The Living Dead — which he had been writing on and off for several years — was left uncompleted. Enter novelist Daniel Kraus (who co-wrote The Shape of Water with Guillermo del Toro), who with the encouragement and assistance of Romero’s widow Suzanne Desrocher-Romero and his agent, Chris Roe, took on the...

Den of Geek recently had the opportunity to speak with David Hayter, the writer, producer and actor whose first big break in the film industry came when he had the opportunity to work on the screenplay for X–Men. The 2000 Bryan Singer-directed superhero film celebrates its 20th anniversary this summer and arguably opened the doors for the era of superhero movies we’ve enjoyed since.

While the role of telepathic sage mutant Professor Xavier in director Bryan Singer’s 2000 feature film “X-Men” ultimately went to Patrick Stewart, he wasn’t the first person to audition for the Marvel tentpole. According to a new Hollywood Reporter exposé detailing Singer’s alleged and already notorious on- and off-set behavior, Michael Jackson at one point threw his hat in the ring to play Xavier when the hit film was still in pre-production.
According to the report, Jackson showed up at the old Fox offices in West LA in 1999, donning sunglasses and refusing to shake hands, to meet with Singer and discuss the role. “I said to him, ‘Do you know Xavier is an older white guy?'” “X-Men” producer Lauren Shuler Donner told THR. “And Michael said, ‘Oh yeah. You know, I can wear makeup.'”

The X-Men franchise may have eventually spawned a dozen movies, with The New Mutants continuing to be the unlucky number thirteen, but despite Bryan Singer’s original kicking off the comic book boom that’s still going strong 20 years later, the mutant team’s debut outing only just managed to escape from development hell itself.
A big screen outing for the X-Men had been in the works for a decade at that point, with the likes of James Cameron, Joss Whedon, Michael Chabon, Robert Rodriguez and Paul W.S. The casting process turned out to be just as tumultuous as the development, with Hugh Jackman famously replacing Dougray Scott as Wolverine after shooting had already started, while virtually every rising star in the business had been considered for a role...

After Bryan Singer opted not to bring his trilogy to a close in favor of Superman Returns, countless filmmakers were offered the chance to get behind the camera before Fox eventually settled on Brett Ratner.

Despite being named after one X-Men spinoff team, the New Mutants movie is more like an x-factor. We don’t know how it’s going to be (despite the insistence that it’s coming at the end of August). We don’t know when it’s actually going to get released. We don’t know what Marvel superhero reality it’s going to take place in. We aren’t 100% sure if it’s going to be in theaters at all or just get thrown onto Disney+ or Hulu. We don’t even know if its potential success will even matter due to the bizarre nature of its existence.
On the other hand, if New Mutants does somehow work out as a hit and it’s allowed to keep going – and the cast haven’t hit middle-age by the time of its release – we at least know how it would work as a trilogy.

The domino effect caused by the Coronavirus pandemic that’s wreaked total havoc with this year’s theatrical schedule is still continuing, but one thing that has always remained reliably consistent is that nobody has a clue what’s happening with The New Mutants.
Fox’s last X-Men movie remains stuck in cinematic purgatory after coming perilously close to finally making it into theaters, with the most recent setback marking the fifth time it had been yanked from the calendar, with the project that originally wrapped shooting in September 2017 failing to catch a single break in the time since.
However, last week saw a new trailer arrive out of the blue, leading to increased speculation that The New Mutants could be set for an imminent release on Disney Plus, which comes just a couple of months after it appeared on Amazon’s list of titles soon to become available for digital download.
