A continuation of the Nickelodeon series Doug, there are a few differences between the two shows. The age and wardrobe of most of the characters, for one. Also, The Beets have broken up, the Honker Burger has been bought out and turned into a french restaurant, Roger Klotz is as rich as Beebe Bluff, former Mayor White is now the Principal of the school, Mrs. Dink is now the Mayor of Bluffington, Porkchop the dog lives in a tepee not an igloo, Connie has lost a lot of weight, the Funnies have a new baby Cleopatra Dirtbike Funnie, and oft-mentioned juvenile delinquent Skunky Beaumont finally makes a physical appearance.
While speaking at a panel about the book "Slimed" in NYC on 9/27/13. Billy West told the audience the reason he didn't return to voice Doug was the studio wanted him to voice 8 more characters for the Disney show at the same pay. And at the time he lived in NY and didn't want to fly every week to California.
Doug Funnie's birthday is August 22 and he is left-handed.
With the exceptions of Doug and Roger (both voiced by Billy West), all the original voices from the Nickelodeon series are in the new series, reprising their roles.
Chris Phillips (who voiced Roger in this incarnation), ironically also worked for Nickelodeon around this time providing the voice of the Nick Jr. mascot, "Face" and for being the announcer for the main Nickelodeon channel during much of the 1990s.
