When Alex is caught trying to rescue Mrs. Hess, Beaupre tears the remote-control car apart and destroys it while looking for the chip. After he flees to the snow fort, the parrot drives the car to him and it is undamaged.
Just after Beaupre cuts the line at the front door, books can be seen on the ground before the trunk comes down on him and Unger.
When Beaupre grabs the toy car, rips it open, and throws the car parts to the ground, the car parts switch places with each other three times between shots.
After Earl Unger slid down the stairs, he leans on a table and he finds a mouse trap on his hand. Before that happens, there is a shot of the entire table, but there is no set mouse trap.
When Alice and Jernigan enter the bedroom, Alice steps on a pump, inflating a beach ball under a toy monkey. When Alice removes the bedspread, the ball is gone.
During the remote control car chase the bad guys' minivan drives directly over it at one point. From the view of the toy car, you can see a driveshaft running down the centre of the undercarriage, which would be impossible on a front-wheel-drive vehicle like the Nissan Quest they're driving, which use half axles to drive the front wheels.
When the police arrive for the first time, they kick down a door that instantly triggers the burglar alarm. This setting can only be used if someone is home while the system is armed, otherwise it must go through a "countdown" to allow the owner to disarm the system.
Calls initiated by police or other emergency services show on caller ID as a standard seven-digit phone number, not 911.
When Alex's dad is about to board his flight and hands over his ticket, you can clearly see the actress at the computer pretending to type above the keyboard.
Alex's pet rat is named Doris, but from what's obvious from a number of shots, the rat used is male.
When the burglars are chasing the toy car outside, the scene is obviously shot at different times of day.
When the police trigger the alarm after the door is kicked in at the first house, it somehow turns itself off after about five seconds, before they tell the dog to freeze.
It is very unlikely that every house on the street is empty during the daytime as Mr. Beaupre claims. Alex and Mrs. Hess would realistically not be the only ones home.
After the bad guys review the tape from the toy car they are still confused where the kid/operator lives, but in fact the video would have been recording from the initial start so that they would have been able to determine what house it came from.
Alex, dressed in a red tartan shirt, is dodging from window to window keeping a watch on Beaupre who's on the doorstep with a dog. The next moment with no time to put it on he's got a blue anorak on and is outside.
When Beaupre corners Alex, he speaks in Polish: "Rozgniote cie jak karalucha, gdzie jest dysk?!" which means: "I'll crush you like a cockroach, where's the disk?!". This is both a slip up by the Polish actor Olek Krupa speaking in Polish instead of English as well as a factual error: the crooks were after a chip, as opposed to a disk.
When one burglar rolls down into the basement and falls from the mousetrap on his finger, he shoots a toilet pipe, and there is a very loud gunshot, yet there is a silencer on his gun, if there were a silencer the gunshot would not have been that loud.
At the beginning of the movie, the terrorists lose the toy car containing the computer chip while it is placed in a Parisian Department Store bag. Parisian Department Stores were located exclusively in the southeastern United States while the airport scenes were set in San Francisco.
The scene in which the baddies are supposed to be in a San Francisco airport was obviously filmed in Chicago's O'Hare airport. They catch a flight to Chicago and emerge at a different part of O'Hare.
The house was booby-trapped with loose boards that caused the crooks to fall many storeys, yet the police were able to easily get into the house without falling.
When Alex is explaining that the bad guys had Johnny Allen's dog and Allen said his dog was stolen, the police brush it off. Johnny Allen reporting his dog missing and Alex seeing the dog with the bad guys is sufficient enough evidence for Alex's story to have credibility.
When Alex calls the police the first time, the police check the residence & say they found no sign of an intruder. Yet it is still winter weather & the police don't find any signs of freshly made wet footprints all over the house to indicate that there was in fact someone walking through the house recently with wet shoes/boots on.
Beaupre steals the small audio cassette tape from the answering machine to cover up the parrot's messages.
This would be clear evidence of a break in. Leaving the tape and message would be less incriminating.

When the bad guys are chasing the toy car and it goes under the SUV Jernigan's driving, he says "It's heading south on Adams". The toy car then goes left, which would mean it should be going east. But Jernigan then says it's heading west.
When Beaupre says that the team are going to Chicago, Unger says that he packed for tropical weather, but this wouldn't matter anyway as his luggage would presumably have been on the flight they were originally going to catch.
