Awards season is heating up, and one of the potential Best Actress contenders, believe it or not, may be Jennifer Aniston. The actress rarely goes down the indie road, but when she has before (The Good Girl), it's resulted in some solid work. This time she's getting plenty of acclaim for Cake, a film that strips down Aniston to being a plain, scarred, troubled woman, angry at the world and everyone around her. And there's an interesting supporting cast here too with Anna Kendrick, Sam Worthington and Adriana Barraza appearing as well. The buzz indicates the film may not be as good as Aniston's performance, but we'll see. Here's the first trailer for Daniel Barnz's Cake, originally from ABC News: Cake is directed by Daniel Barnz (Beastly, Won't Back Down) from a script by Patrick Tobin (No Easy Way). Claire Simmons (Jennifer Aniston) is in pain. Her physical...

Debby Ryan's role as a recovering cocaine addict in tonight's (Nov. 17) intense two-part episode of "Private Practice" is definitely a departure from her day job as a Disney star. But the 18-year-old actress, who stars the Disney sitcom "Jessie," says she was honored when Shonda Rhimes sought her out for a role on the series.
"It was a huge privilege and a big honor," Ryan tells Zap2it. "She's one of the biggest showrunners in television right now. I love her use of music, her way of writing -- she has very much a Shonda style. To be able to be a part of this was such an honor."
Ryan didn't take the role lightly. She spent weeks researching before she got on set to play Hailey, a teenager whom neurosurgeon Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone) meets in rehab. "I went online a lot, and I talked to a people who have done cocaine.

The biggest question following Lone Star’s stellar pilot episode wasn’t whether it could sustain the momentum it generated, but whether it could do enough to pick up the pilot’s flagging ratings. If viewers weren’t checking out this excellent character drama initially, would 1.02 do enough to make a difference?
While we won’t know about the ratings until tomorrow, unfortunately there was a slight drop off in terms of story quality. Whereas I couldn’t get enough of the pilot, 1.02 dragged a bit, with a somewhat confusing storyline as Bob (James Wolk) tries to pull one over on Clint (Jon Voight) (albeit somewhat legitimately). When the rules of the con aren’t clear, especially when it’s not even really a con, you’re going to lose viewers.
But Lone Star isn’t really about the cons or the schemes to begin with. It’s about the American dream of family.
