Whether it’s due to Nicholas Cage’s acclaimed performance or not, the actor’s mediocre thriller The Frozen Ground has suddenly made its way to Netflix’s global top more than ten years after its theatrical release.
Currently holding the number 7 position to-date, the movie has been going strong after it initially entered the chart with the same place last week, according to FlixPatrol.
Packed with this-day big Hollywood stars like Vanessa Hudgens, John Cusack and, ironically, 50 Cent, The Frozen Ground follows Alaska Trooper Jack Halcombe, portrayed by Cage, embarking on a hunt for local serial killer Robert Hansen who is believed to have been torturing and sexually assaulting young girls for 13 years.
To get more evidence for Hansen’s arrest, Halcombe dives deep into the whole story and finds out that one victim, Cindy Paulsen, somehow managed to survive, though since then she’s turned into an...

In a letter announcing her third album, Don’t Forget Me, singer-songwriter Maggie Rogers says she got inspired for her latest project by creating a “younger Thelma & Louise,” using that storytelling vessel to navigate difficult personal truths of her own. Such self-exploring wanderlust has been a common theme for Rogers, an artist who proclaimed “I found myself when I was going everywhere” on her first LP. This time out, she’s taking a metaphorical road trip through her own past as a means of escaping her disconcerting present.

Watch the full episode above via the official RuPaul’s Drag Race channel on YouTube.
In their recap of the finale, Bianca pointed out that Ts appearing on the recap series is the first time they’ve ever had a permanent Drag Race judge stop by to give their up close and unbiased opinion. Ts said that the biggest perk of the job as a judge is getting to see the queens do what they do, but she wishes she could sit at the dais for an entire season to really get to see the full growth of everyone competing. Watch the full episode above via the official RuPaul’s Drag Race channel on YouTube.
In their recap of the episode, Symone was “ready to talk smack,” even about her season 13 sisters Kandy Muse and Lala Ri. Symone said that Jimbo was a frontrunner “out the gate” from the moment she walked into the Werk Room in a nude body suit and flip flops. Bianca was still rooting for Jessica Wild and thought she could have won until Kandy eliminated her last week. In their recap of the episode, Denali makes the statement that Kandy Muse is someone who is perfect for television and was made for a competition show like “Drag Race.” Denali was also sympathetic to the decisions that the girls are making in terms of the competition being hard to navigate — she said she understands why Heidi N Closet would be like “peace out” and why Alexis Michelle and Kandy would choose alliances over taking out “the competition...

In their recap of the episode, Valentina told Bianca that design challenges don’t frighten her because she’s been able to pull things out, but she also admitted to leaning in to her delusional side and accepting help from other queens. In their recap of the episode, Deja tells Bianca that she thinks Kahanna Montrese has been “killing it” on the runway and that Jessica Wild is the one keeping her entertained. Still, Bianca found time to point out how big of a fan Deja is of Bianca and then continued to make Deja fall out of her chair laughing throughout the episode. [Warning: The below contains major spoilers for the Race to Survive: Alaska finale.] After a grueling 40-day trek and more than 100 miles traveled, it came down to three teams. Each had braved the punishing wilderness leading into the Race To Survive: Alaska finale on USA Network. Out of the eight duos who started the adventure, left were underdog New York Ivy League siblings Cason and Bella Crane, Seattle outdoor enthusiast buds Max Djenohan and Christian Junkar, and hometown survivalist bros Wilson Hoogendron and Oliver Hoogendorn. The sixth race of the season saw the exhausted competitors endure all the elements and uneasy terrain to reach the final crate. Max and Christian were ahead most of the way with Wilson and Oliver hot on their heels. At one point, a glacier wall climb looked to have done Wilson and Oliver in with Cason and Bella having a hard time kayaking and facing unbearably cold waters. A navigational error helped play a role ...

In their recap, Kornbread thought that queens who won their original “Snatch Game” competitions had the bigger task to live up to the expectation and queens who hadn’t competed in it before, like Lala Ri, were in a better position to perform well. Kornbread never got to do “Snatch Game” herself and told Bianca that she had planned to perform as Leslie Jordan or the Tiger King. In their recap of episode 1, Bianca and Alaska started by critiquing the opening look choices that the queens made. Alaska was confused why Naysha Lopez put on a prison jumpsuit, favoring more the queens that extended their known brand in their looks, like Kahanna Montrese and Heidi N Closet. Alaska’s personal favorite though was Jaymes Mansfield‘s and Bianca preferred Jimbo for being different and fun. Then, for the “Famous Then” and “Famous Now” runway mini challenge, Alaska and Bianca both liked Alexis Michelle‘s looks most.

Jeremy Renner: The Diane Sawyer Interview – A Story of Terror, Survival and Triumph aired at 10 p.m. Et/Pt, averaging 3.49M live + same day total viewers. According to ABC, that’s the broadcaster’s best Thursday performance in six months, since the premiere of the Hilary Swank drama Alaska Daily.
Alaska Daily managed about 3.58M viewers for its October 6 premiere. The season, which ended on March 30, averaged about 2.8M viewers. Compared to last week, the Jeremy Renner special drew about 800,000 more viewers.
Renner’s special underperformed compared to Sawyer’s previous tell-all interview with Matthew Perry in October, which drew about 4.15M viewers.
It’s also worth noting that the final hour of primetime on Thursdays has a healthy lead-in from Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy. The Jeremy Renner interview managed to...

The truth can set you free. It can also get you killed. “Some people get aggressive and violent when the truth is revealed. They want to keep living their illusions. Journalists have lost their lives because of [that],” says Hilary Swank, who plays Alaska Daily’s gruff, exacting newspaper reporter Eileen Fitzgerald. Art imitated life in the fall finale’s cliffhanger ending, which cut to black as the newswoman, in The Daily Alaskan’s offices after hours, faced a gunman angered by her investigations. The self-described “concerned citizen” had been stalking and openly threatening the former NYC hotshot since she started working in Anchorage. (He even sent her a bullet!) (Credit: ABC/Darko Sikman) In the drama’s suspenseful return, Eileen’s professional skills are all she has to help her survive the hostage situation. The reporter, always working, greets her assailant as she would any interviewee, cordially asking for his name.

Ben Aldridge came out as gay not even three years ago with a post on Instagram.
“The journey to pride was a long one for me,” he wrote alongside vintage photos of gay rights protests as well as a video of him playfully kissing another man on the cheek. “I love the LGBTQ+ community and am incredibly proud and thankful to be a part of it. So much won. So much more to fight for. #pride.”
During an appearance on this week’s “Just for Variety,” I asked the British actor what was going through his mind when he hit the post button.
“Oh, you’re going to make me cry,” he said. “It sounds dramatic, but I could just breathe easier. I underestimated how significant that was to me. I really did. I thought, it’s not that I’d played it down, but I didn’t know what...

According to the trailer for Hilary Swank’s new ABC drama, “Alaska has a funny way of revealing things to you. Outsiders come to disappear or to reinvent themselves.” Alaska Daily, from Tom McCarthy, follows Swank’s Eileen Fitzgerald, a fiercely talented and award-winning investigative journalist who leaves her high-profile New York life behind after a fall from grace to join a daily metro newspaper in Anchorage on a journey to find both personal and professional redemption. “You’re a born reporter. You’re one of the best,” Stanley Cornik (Jeff Perry) explains when he offers her a job. “Cold case in Alaska. She went missing two years ago. Her death is part of a pattern, the murder of indigenous women.” But “I’m one reporter. You don’t need me,” Eileen argues. Stanley disagrees: “You break big stories, Eileen. ABC is adding to its midseason roster.
The Disney-backed broadcaster has handed out a series order to Will Trent, the Ramon Rodriguez-led drama based on Karin Slaughter’s book series.
The series, which was originally ordered with a cast-contingent pickup, revolves around special agent Will Trent (Rodriguez) of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, who was abandoned at birth and endured a harsh coming-of-age in Atlanta’s overwhelmed foster care system. But now, determined to use his unique point of view to make sure no one is abandoned like he was, Will Trent has the highest clearance rate in the Gbi.
Rodriguez (Marvel’s Iron Fist and The Defenders as well as Fox’s Gang Related) leads a cast that also includes Erika Christensen, Iantha Richardson, Jake McLaughlin and Sonja Sohn.

Update 3:30 Pm: There have been last minute developments as ABC is finalizing its decisions on off-cycle 2022 pilots. Drama Will Trent, which had been garnering the strongest buzz since early summer, has started to cool off. While Will Trent and The Company You Keep both appeared likely to go series, with writers rooms already up and running on both, I now hear that this is still a real possibility but no longer a lock. There is a chance that only one of the two dramas makes it to series.
Meanwhile, as we predicted earlier, ABC officially passed on the Untitled Kay Oyegun drama pilot and comedy pilot The Son in Law.

It's the time of the year where we give thanks for the good things in our lives.
And those good things include TV shows, well-developed and strong characters, healthy relationships, good plotlines, and more!
Here's some of what TV Fanatic is thankful for in 2019 (in no particular order).
Malcolm Jamal Warner's Aj Austin & Minator on The Resident
Aj has come such a long way on The Resident and digging into his background has been such a beautiful experience. Warner brings so much heart to this lovable, arrogant, complex teddy bear of a character.
And yeah, everyone enjoys talking about CoNic, but Minator has been quietly stealing their thunder as this endearing slow-burn ship that makes you giggly. -- Jasmine
Elite
Elite came back on Netflix for a second season that was just as compelling and twisted as the first season. It's one of the more fun binge-watching series that Netflix has to offer.

Kat Dennings stars in Hulu’s new comedy series “Dollface,” out on Friday. It’s a story about a girl named Jules who gets dumped by her boyfriend and quickly realizes that she’s let all her female friendships deteriorate over their five-year relationship.
But the most jarring element of the first episode isn’t Jules’ unceremonious dumping. It’s the cat-lady who shows up, unannounced, to pick her up in a Greyhound-style bus to take her on the journey back to hanging out with other women.
She’s not the kind of cat-lady who wears nightgowns, perpetually smells like Fancy Feast and spends most of her nights at home with her 9 cats. She’s a cat-lady in the literal sense that she has the body of a woman but the head of a giant cat.

One of the strongest ways that time has become a malleable force that’s untethered us from our own sense of reality is the sheer number of TV shows released in a given year. There are some series that feel like they last aired new episodes in 2015, while others have completely disappeared from the public consciousness despite existing for mere months.
Such is the way of modern television. As a result, we’ve decided to keep track of all the 174 seasons of TV we’ve reviewed so far this year. Some shows have fared better than others, but a majority of these are recommendations.
Each review is organized by the letter grade (A+ to F) that accompanies each of them. Some series have prompted follow-ups after pivotal episodes or finales, but the links below will take you to initial season reviews of all the shows listed.

Maggie Rogers is making it loud and clear that at her shows "there is no space for harassment or disrespect or degradation of any kind." On Saturday night, during her Acl Live performance at the Moody Theater in Austin, two men in the crowd interrupted her acoustic performance of her hit song "Alaska" to catcall the 25-year-old singer. One of the men had yelled for Rogers to "take your top off" while another concertgoer also yelled, "you cute though." But Rogers is taking a stand against the sexist behavior that men and other concertgoers feel entitled to. Consequently, she took to social media to share a powerful message.
