A big-budget series adaptation of a best-selling sci-fi epic, a new season of an acquired Peacock gem, a spinoff series of a Guy Ritchie crime feature, the return of one of the world’s most grueling reality competition shows, Millie Bobby Brown finding herself in all sorts of bother and Adam Sandler getting serious in a space drama are among the standout films and series hitting Netflix in March.
Funnyman Sandler is deathly serious in Johan Renck’s Spaceman, Netflix’s big feature release this month that debuts on March 1. The film, an adaptation of Jaroslav Kalfar’s novel Spaceman of Bohemia, sees Sandler play a Czech astronaut sent to the farthest reaches of space, just as his personal life is falling to pieces. Sandler’s character must keep his sanity and his only supposed company is a giant alien arachnid. The film, which premiered out of competition at the Berlin Film Festival,...

Leaping from the slightly longer February into March, Netflix is welcoming in the new month with big series premieres, special live events, comedy specials, and films to binge at any time!
Coming to the streamer this month, “Girls5eva” will also make its debut after being rescued by the streamer from Peacock cancelation. Both existing seasons of the hit comedy and the all-new third season will premiere on the platform mid-month. Plus, wind down and whet your appetite with new seasons of the hit competition series “Blown Away” and “Is It Cake?,” premiering on March 8 and 29, respectively.
Maybe Netflix’s biggest premiere this month, though, is the highly anticipated limited series adaptation of Cixin Liu’s internationally celebrated “The Three-Body Problem” trilogy from David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, and Alexander Woo. Benedict Wong, Jess Hong, John Bradley, Sir Jonathan Pryce, Liam Cunningham, and more lead the cast of the sci-fi drama, which...

As we creep along to the midway point of Summer, this can only mean one thing at the multiplex (aside from added matinees): another installment of a big studio franchise (formerly a series) will be occupying several screens. We’ve already had a new Alien, and another Depp pirate pic as the Planet Apes and Transformers wait in the wings, along with that wall-crawling wonder. I suppose we’re due for an animated sequel, but this one’s from the most celebrated studio of the last couple of decades, Pixar. Aside from Toy Story, they avoided follow-ups to their other hit films until 2011 when the Cars gang refueled for Cars 2. Then one of the other hits got a prequel, Monster University, and another spawned last year’s box office smash, Finding Dory. Now here’s the automotive, track-burnin’ “hat trick” as good ole’ number 95, Lightning McQueen roars back...

“I am just a dumb bunny, but, we are good at multiplying!”
When I reviewed Zootopia here at We Are Movie Geeks, I wrote”, the beautifully designed, brightly-hued Zootopia is breezier and bouncier than most. The animation work is dazzling, lovingly detailed without being overdone. I felt like I could reach out and pet these furry critters, especially in eye-popping 3D.” (read all of my review Here)
Now you can own Zootopia on Blu-ray thanks to Walt Disney Animation Studios!
Zootopia has broken records worldwide earning more than $900 million at the global box office to date. The best reviewed movie of 2016, critics and audiences around the world have fallen in love with the wonderfully innovative animal metropolis of Zootopia and the comedic chemistry of rookie rabbit officer Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and scam-artist fox Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman). It’s been called one of the best buddy cop comedies in years!

Walt Disney Animation Studios revealed the roster of voice talent tapped to help bring a voice, snort and a roar to the animal residents of the modern-day mammal metropolis of Zootopia, which opens in theaters March 4, 2016.
“We had so much fun casting this film,” said director Byron Howard. “‘Zootopia’ features such a large and diverse range of characters – one of our biggest casts ever for a Disney Animation film. We needed talented actors who could help bring these animals to life.”
Adds director Rich Moore, “Everyone in this incredible cast is bringing something special, something unexpected to their characters, which really takes our story to a whole new level.”

Joining Ginnifer Goodwin, who provides the voice of Zootopia’s first bunny officer Judy Hopps; Jason Bateman, who lends his voice to con-artist fox Nick Wilde; and Shakira, who voices international superstar Gazelle, are the following members of the “Zootopia” voice cast.

Disney's upcoming animated film Zootopia looks like it's going to a ridiculously funny and entertaining film. I got to see some footage from it at D23 this past summer, and I thought the stuff that the studio shared was great.
The voice cast for the film originally included Jason Bateman, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Shakira. Now, thanks to USA Today, we have some information on the rest of the voice cast and the characters that they will be playing. We even have images and information for each of those characters. But first, here's the synopsis:
The modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But...

Not much intel had been revealed before about Disney's "Zootopia," the animation studio's next big flick, due out in the spring. But now, we finally know just who will be starring in the film's voice cast, and the list is filled with big names.
USA Today has unveiled both the movie's main characters and the actors behind them, and they include Oscar winners (Octavia Spencer and J.K. Simmons), action stars (Idris Elba), comics (Tommy Chong and Jenny Slate), and seasoned voice actors (Alan Tudyk and Bonnie Hunt) alike. Here's a rundown of who's who in the ensemble: Idris Elba plays Chief Bogo (pictured above), a no-nonsense cape buffalo in charge of the Zootopia Police Department. Octavia Spencer plays Mrs. Otterton, an otter whose search for her missing husband sparks the film's plot. J.K. Simmons plays Mayor Leodore Lionheart, a noble lion who leads the city of Zootopia. Tommy Chong plays Yax the Yak,...

Before we hit the Emmy Awards one last group poll. I asked friends which Emmy nominated TV characters mix and matched from different series would they love to see paired up?
True Sherlock: His Last Vow
Michael: I would mash up Benedict Cumberbatch's Sherlock with McConaughey's Rust. Sherlock would've knocked out that Yellow King business out in 20 minutes leaving the rest of the season for them to get drunk and philosophize.
Denny: Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons on The Big Bang Theory) and Crazy Eyes (Uzo Aduba on Orange is the New Black) are served a pie. Hilarity ensues. Or: Queen Cersei (Lena Headey) gets sent to Litchfield prison and insults Red's (Kate Mulgrew) cooking on her first day. Delicious scheming and sassy put-downs ensue. And I really want to see Allison Janney and Julie Bowen's characters from Mom and Modern Family get drinks together, just because.

Trish Bendix isn’t happy with how Faking It ended its first season. Bendix writes in The Hollywood Reporter that the ending destroys Faking It‘s credibility in handling lesbian characters. (Spoilers await you at the link.)
Just hours before debuting the fifth season, ABC Family ordered two more seasons of Pretty Little Liars. That will keep the campy horror soap on the air until 2016. With seven seasons, I believe that should make it ABC Family’s longest-running series.
I’m still hoping it turns out they really are getting texts from Hillary.
Does the timing of the Game of Thrones finale hint at a major spoiler from the books? (Again, it’s a major spoiler, so click at your own risk.)
Why does a premium channel like HBO put up so much of one of its shows, Last Week Tonight, for free on the web? Hitfix‘s Alan...

Films such as Lincoln revitalised the genre by focusing on short periods, but are too many made, too soon?
For a genre that's been dismissed so many times, the biopic is in impertinently rude health. In the past six months in the UK – and only counting the ones about major public figures – we've had Behind the Candelabra, Renoir, Lovelace, Rush, Diana, Hannah Arendt, The Fifth Estate, One Chance, Saving Mr Banks, Kill Your Darlings, and Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. The next few weeks alone will grant us audiences with Solomon Northup (12 Years a Slave), Charles Dickens (The Invisible Woman) and Grace of Monaco.
Somewhere down the line, though, the biopic tightened up its act. The Mandela picture's cradle-to-the-grave trudge looks positively old-fashioned now; even 12 Years a Slave is a bit copperplate. The new-school, high-definition biopic goes for the essence, rather than a chronicle of events, focusing on a galvanising...

So yes, Kanye West has made a music video with a topless Kim Kardashian, fiancée and mother-of-his-child and free-floating symbol for the dystopia our lives have become. And yes, the music video — set to “Bound 2,” the extremely heartfelt and totally weird love song that ends Yeezus — is about Kanye West and Kim Kardashian riding a motorcycle in front of green-screen images of Monument Valley and space, which makes it look a little bit like a ’70s biker-gang Roger Corman movie shot inside of an iMac screensaver. Kate Middleton and Prince William will become parents within days to their much anticipated new baby son or daughter. But what’s extra exciting is that they will forever change the face of royal parenthood as the most hands-on royal parents ever!
Kate Middleton‘s official due date is July 11 and when she goes into labor, Prince William – the future king of England will be in the delivery room!
Prince William & Kate Middleton Will Be Hands-On Parents
Prince William is as excited as any non-Royal father-to-be about the birth of his first baby. And no matter which sex the baby is, that baby will become The heir to the throne — the first time in British history that a first-born daughter would become Queen, even if she later has a younger male sibling.
It’s not surprising because he’s such a down-to-earth young man, but Prince William will be the...

Justin, when you set your mind to winning back the woman who owns your heart — you go more all out than any man I’ve ever seen. This singing tactic could work!
Justin Bieber, you are making the most public display of “wooing” a woman – Selena Gomez – since Romeo romanced Juliet on her balcony!
Justin Bieber Performing ‘Take You’ For Selena Gomez
When you sing your love song, “Take You,” at the Billboard Awards on May 19, you will be crooning directly to Selena, who is also performing at the awards show.
She’ll be there, possibly sitting front row watching your performance, at the same time as all of your and Selena’s fans, who are tuning in to the show.
Justin, this is a really bold, romantic move and the culmination of your long campaign to win Selena back after she left you “for good” during your Christmas vacation together.

Excerpts from the Press Release:
“We had a terrific season last year, growing our audience on-air, digitally, and socially. Now we are building on that success by continuing to add more original programming all year long and by adding high-concept, exciting shows to our schedule that will help us continue our mission of broadening out our 18-to-34-year old audience,” said Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW. “‘Arrow’ was one of the breakout hits of this season, and we’re using that show and ‘The Vampire Diaries,’ our two highest-rated series, to launch our new dramas ‘The Tomorrow People’ and ‘Reign,’ on Wednesday and Thursday nights. Justin Bieber — you seem to have followed Kristen Stewart’s incredibly successful plan to reunite romantically with Robert Pattinson. Her strategy worked for her and now the same plan worked for you!
Justin Bieber – you are clearly on cloud nine after wining Selena Gomez’s heart back.
Justin Bieber & Selena Gomez ‘Smiling’ After Reunion
You convinced Selena, 20, to fly fourteen hours to meet you in Norway and the two of you have been smiling ever since.
You even tweeted the word, “Smiling,” on April 18 after Selena arrived.

This week’s ‘Vampire Diaries’ set the stage for some hard times in the Big Easy. If The CW doesn’t pick up this spin-off, it would be a crime against television.
I don’t think we’re in Mystic Falls anymore, Toto! The April 25 episode of The Vampire Diaries — aka the back-door pilot for The Originals, which I’m crossing my fingers for harder than ever — introduced us to the “dark side” of New Orleans, where Klaus’ (Joseph Morgan) former protege Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) rules the roost. You know, when he’s not rocking the karaoke mic. But Klaus and Marcel’s buddy-buddy routine fell to pieces as Klaus became resentful of his former Bff, and vowed to steal back his kingdom.
But because no Mikaelson family reunion would be complete without everyone’s favorite hair, Elijah (Daniel Gillies) showed up just in time to kill a few...

If you think you’re seeing Margo Martindale everywhere, you’re not hallucinating. Just this spring, the Emmy winner has been beaten to a pulp as tough-as-nails Kgb wrangler Claudia on The Americans, ousted arts gala guests as a tough-as-nails socialite on Smash, and stoked buzz for Showtime’s Masters of Sex, in which she plays a secretary who’s — you guessed it! — tough as nails. But Martindale’s guest spot on tonight’s New Girl might be the character actress’s biggest stretch in recent memory, quite literally. Martindale dances, improvises, and (eventually) reveals her soft underbelly as Bonnie,...

I was trying to figure out what genre Steven Spielberg's The Sugarland Express fits in while preparing today's Movie Club entry. It's definitely got drama as Lou Jean (Goldie Hawn), an ex-con, convinces her husband Clovis (William Atherton) to break out of pre-release four months before he's due to be released free and clear. Their goal is to make a run for Sugarland, Texas where they hope to get their child out of foster care, a child that was removed from their custody due to the misdemeanors that landed them in prison. These two eventually hit the road by hitching a ride with an elderly couple, but the fact the old man won't drive any faster than 30 miles an hour on the freeway results in them stealing the car. A police chase ensues, ultimately resulting in the kidnapping of a police officer (Michael Sacks) and hijacking his cruiser. To...

An incredible and rewarding work of art that’s improved with age.
About a year ago, Disney produced 3D conversions of both Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King for Blu-ray. The latter was re-released in theaters for two weeks as part of the home video promotion. Unexpectedly, it did gangbusters at the box-office, even taking the number one spot for two consecutive weekends ahead of new releases. Not bad for a seventeen year old film. Sensing there was more money to be made, Disney came up with a new game plan. Even though the 3D version of Beauty was on store shelves, they would re-release it in theaters as well that January. Makes sense, since the average household doesn’t have a blu-ray player in their home theater, let alone 3D capability. Future re-releases would include, The Little Mermaid and Monsters, Inc., as a tie-in to its sequel...

Caleb was a man with a plan in last night's Pretty Little Liars summer finale ... it just turns out that bringing a gun to a knife fight was not the best plan as he was accidentally shot in the stomach (but by whom?) and taken to Rosewood General, where he's currently in surgery.
Thankfully Tyler Blackburn confirmed to me this morning that Caleb does not die -- the character not only factors in to the Halloween episode, but also season 3B (airing in January)! So what did Tyler think about Pll's summer finale? Read on to find out!

Hey gang! For those of you looking for some new Toy Story action, here is a nice little film clip for the upcoming short film Toy Story Hawaiian Vacation. The director of the film Gary Rydstrom had this to say,
We wanted to figure out a story that would include everybody, which is crazy because it is under six minutes. It takes place in Bonnie’s room — Woody, Buzz and Rex and everybody is in on it. Ken wants to take Barbie on a perfect vacation to Hawaii by stowing away in Bonnie’s backpack, but they get left behind in the middle of winter while she goes off without them. Ken kind of screwed up. [Laughs] Barbie probably does all the planning, and he tried to plan this one.

After grossing over $1 billion and picking up the Oscar for Best Animated Film, Pixar doesn’t want Toy Story 3 to be the last time you see these characters. They’ve been planning a short before Cars 2 this June and it was recently revealed that another short is attached to The Muppets this November. EW now has our first footage at the former short, titled Toy Story: Hawaiian Vacation.
Gary Rydstrom, who directed the 2006 Pixar short Lifted, has taken over the reigns from Lee Unkrich and co. to helm this short. The entire short clocks in at under six minutes and returns nearly the entire cast, including Chuckles the Clown. He also states there is no Toy Story 4 being planned but “several stories [are] being worked on, [with] different shorts in the pipeline.” For more details on the short head over to EW and you can see the clip below.

Disney Pixar have just released this brand new clip from the new Toy Story short which is set to sit in front of Cars 2 when it’s released 22nd July.
This timing couldn’t be more perfect after Lee Unkrich and his team walked away with the Best Animation Oscar for Toy Story 3 at this years academy awards.

Check out the clip below and have a read of what we can expect in the synopsis below.
