Classic 1990s comedy chat show The Kumars is returning to television, here are the details.
In the 1990s, there were two shows which brought black British comedy into the mainstream. The first was The Real McCoy, a sketch show which launched the television careers of double acts Curtis Walker and Ishmael Thomas, and Llewella Gideon and Collette Johnson. Later series featured Robbie Gee, Eddie Nestor, Judith Jacob, Kulvinder Ghir, Meera Syal and the much missed Felix Dexter, amongst others.
The second series was sketch show Goodness Gracious Me, which premiered on the BBC in 1997. Taking an irreverent look at Asian-British experience, the series is probably best known for the now iconic ‘Going For An English’ sketch, which poked fun at the stereotypical British experience of going for a curry, but flipping races to an Indian family going out for bland English food.

Welcome to The B-Side, from The Film Stage. Here we talk about movie stars! Not the movies that made them famous or kept them famous, but the ones they made in between.
Today, we discuss one of the most intriguing actors of his generation: Val Kilmer! To tackle such an enigma, we bring in the legendary Katie Walsh! A must-follow on Twitter, a co-host of the insatiably-entertaining Miami Nice Podcast, and an accomplished writer. The B-Sides featured today are: Kill Me Again, At First Sight, The Salton Sea, and Mindhunters.
We discuss how Kilmer was a prodigy––the youngest student admitted into Juilliard’s drama department––before his Broadway debut in the (ultimately) star-studded Slab Boys. There’s talk of his well-documented penchant to be difficult on set, as well as those who defended him and his abilities.

When we talk about rock, we talk about bands: Zeppelin, the Who, the Stones. But when we talk about jazz, we tend to talk about individuals: Miles, Monk, Coltrane. On some level, that makes sense: If the song is the primary mode of rock expression, the solo is generally the way you make your mark in jazz. Whether you’re considering Coleman Hawkins, Louis Armstrong, Freddie Hubbard, or the colossal, now-retired Sonny Rollins, it was when they stepped out front and said their piece that they truly embodied their legendary status.

Universal Pictures has won a bidding war against Warner Bros. for the action-adventure, The Real McCoy, with actor Chris Pratt (Jurassic World) attached to star. The action-adventure tells the true story of Bill McCoy, a bootlegger who ran rum during the Prohibition era in the 1920's. McCoy smuggled alcohol in secret from the Bahamas without involvement from the mafia that have inspired his name "The Real McCoy."
Pratt has been making waves after the success of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy and will next be seen in Universal Pictures' Jurassic World. His upcoming projects include Columbia Pictures remake of The Magnificent Seven with director Antoine Fuqua with actor Denzel Washington (The Equalizer) in the leading role and the comic book adaptation of Cowboy Ninja Viking with John Wick directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch rumored to direct the film. If nothing ever comes of the rumors that Chris Pratt could take over the role of Indiana Jones, at least he continues to add similar adventuring characters to his resume. His part as Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy was clearly modeled on Jones, crossed with Han Solo for a mash-up of Harrison Ford's iconic heroes. Now he's set to play a real-life bootlegger who sounds like a much more grounded mix of those two fictional figures. The historical subject is William 'Bill' McCoy -- not to be confused with the Will McCoy who has done digitlal effects on Star Wars and Indiana Jones movies -- and the title of the movie is The Real McCoy. Contrary to what The Hollywood Reporter claims in their posting of this news, the phrase is not named for the non-drinking...

Given that he’s probably the main draw (the human one, at least) for its massive summer hope Jurassic World, it’s perhaps not that surprising that Universal would want to stay in the Chris Pratt business. The studio has acted quickly to snap up a pitch that could potentially star the actor, The Real McCoy. Bill Dubuque, who wrote The Judge, worked on the idea based on a suggestion from producer Tom McNulty, with the pair teaming up to sell Pratt on the concept. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it’s a story about real-life bootlegger Bill McCoy, who became the inspiration for the phrase “the real McCoy” referring to his unsullied liquor. McCoy himself was ironically a non-drinker who prided himself on never having to pay protection money to anyone, criminal or otherwise, as he smuggled alcohol during Prohibition in the United States. A character based on the...

Whenever hearing the phrase "the real McCoy," it always makes me think of an 80s TV show in the same vein as "MacGyver." In reality, it's just a turn of phrase inspired by real life bootlegger Bill McCoy, and it was used to specify when the liquor hadn't been dulled down. Now THR reports The Real McCoy will become a feature film after Universal Pictures won a bidding war against Warner Bros. Pictures to land the pitch that has Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World star Chris Pratt attached to star. The pitch comes from The Judge scribe Bill Dubuque, and it was intriguing enough to land a solid seven figure deal. As of now, there aren't many details on the project, other than that it focuses on the life of Bill McCoy and his bootlegging days. The idea came from producer Tom McNulty, caught the interest of Michael De Luca,...

Over the last few years, Chris Pratt hasn’t simply taken a few steps up the industry ladder, he’s catapulted to the top of every casting director’s wishlist at breakneck speed. Since his scene-stealing turn in Guardians Of The Galaxy, the days of playing third lead in a questionable Vince Vaughn comedy are long gone. Pratt’s veritable leading man qualities, a heady mix of likeable charm and comedic wit, have made him a go-to guy when you need someone the audience can get behind. And now it seems we can add booze bootlegger to his expanding resume.
Per THR, Pratt is attached to the lead role in Universal’s rum-runner movie The Real McCoy. The studio recently bought Bill Dubuque’s pitch during a battle with Warner and now has Tom NcNulty and Michael DeLuca in line to produce.

Chris Pratt will star in a bootlegging drama based on the man who inspired the phrase “The Real McCoy,” in a film of the same name, TheWrap has learned. The film, written by Bill Dubuque, is in development at Universal, and centers around William “Bill” McCoy, a sea captain who smuggled rum from the Bahamas to the U.S. during Prohibition. While McCoy never drank liquor himself, he prided himself on never paying money for protection from law enforcement or the mob and delivering merchandise that was uncut, thus earning the nickname “the real McCoy.” Also Read: TheWrap’s 25 Most Anticipated Movies of.

The Real McCoy is a pitch that casts Chris Pratt as a bootlegger, and the quickly developing film has just landed at Universal. Back in the early 90s there was a popular BBC comedy sketch series called The Real McCoy. Hilarious! At least that’s how I remember it. Kind of a UK version of In Living Color, it poked fun at Caribbean (mainly Jamaican), African (mainly Nigerian) and Asian (mainly Indian) people in Britain in ways that only the young Britons of Caribbean, African and Asian descent who wrote and performed it, were able to. Hilarious, I tell you! Ah, them was the days…

Most recently he gave us Resident Evil: Extinction and soon he will be giving us the 3D shark film Bait. The career of Russell Mulcahy has always had its ups and downs. Would directing a "Teen Wolf" TV pilot for MTV be considered a high or low?
According to IMDb Russell Mulcahy has been tapped to direct the pilot episode of their new "Teen Wolf" series inspired by the 1985 Michael J. Fox comedy. Shooting begins very shortly in Georgia.
Remember now that MTV is shooting for more of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Vampire Diaries” dark teen drama with flashes of humor tone for their Twilight baiting "Teen Wolf" series premiering next year on the channel that used to actually run music videos.
