- Stanley Cox: Let me tell you about us. I'm gonna need a working woman; that's you. You're gonna need a broad shoulder; that's me. I like you, Iris, just about as much as I love you. And you know what? We're gonna do just fine together. And a man could drown in your blue eyes.
- Kelly King: I can stay with a friend if you don't want me.
- Iris King: A girl's best friend is her mama. At least, that's what it says on the greeting cards.
- Iris King: Why do they call it a good cry? All it does is make you look like hell. And what's missing is still missing.
- Iris King: You live at home with your father, you do you own cooking, and you're not married. I that the whole story?
- Stanley Cox: I'm think that's about as much as I'm gonna talk about.
- Iris King: Stanley, are you proposing to me?
- Stanley Cox: [smiles knowingly] I suppose I am.
- Iris King: You know what you're taking on? There were seven visits to the doctor last year, five to the dentist, and winter coats, summer coats, tennis shoes. We're a noisy family, Stanley. We've got a lot of arguments, baby crying, a lot of TV. You sure you wanna take this on?
- Stanley Cox: [stops the car and smiles] I'm here.
