This picture was one of fifty Australian films selected for preservation as part of the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia's Kodak / Atlab Cinema Collection Restoration Project.
The car yard (set up in for the film in Victoria St Richmond an inner suburb of Melbourne) was so real that the crew kept receiving genuine offers from the public wishing to purchase the vehicles.
A television can be heard to be broadcasting Malcolm (1986) which was the first film produced by this movie's producers Nadia Tass and David Parker.
Don Lane was the original choice for the car salesman character of Gordon Farkas. Frankie J. Holden, who had a minor role in the film, and comedian Mark Mitchell of the Australian comedy TV series The Comedy Company (1988), were also considered. In the end the part was cast with Steve Bisley.
