"Star Trek" and "scary" aren't words that are often associated with each other. After all, it's a sci-fi franchise that's more about philosophy than action. "Trek" focuses on optimism and exploration, in a world where humanity has finally put internecine conflicts aside because we realized we are only one speck of a larger universe.
On the edge of the final frontier, though, all types of stories are possible. "Star Trek: The Original Series" began with "The Man Trap," essentially a monster B-movie in space about a salt-vampire with the mouth of a lamprey. In season 2, the series concocted a whole Halloween special with "Catspaw," about two psychic aliens who have constructed a Gothic castle as a trap for the Enterprise crew.
In the 60-ish years "Star Trek" has existed, it has returned to horror regularly enough to call this a trend. As the omnipotent trickster Q (John de Lancie) warned...

Bethesda’s legacy of open-world games has continued with Starfield, and while the game has yet to live up to its pre-release hype entirely, there are numerous updates and features on the horizon that make it worth keeping an eye on. The biggest update yet is on the cards for the game, as fans have noticed a flurry of changes in the SteamdDB’s changelogs, although Bethesda hasn’t commented on it.
Starfield recently got a massive update, and it seems more changes are on their way. The SteamDB’s changelog clearly indicates the game is gearing up for a massive update, which many speculate is going to be the Shattered Space expansion.

Starfield was not the groundbreaking IP that Bethesda Game Studios was hoping it would be. Apart from the several issues at the launch, players who had waited for the game for a long time didn’t find it interesting. The game did get generally favorable reviews, but it slowly lost many players.
The upcoming Starfield Dlc, Shattered Space, will add more content to the game. While it will add to the exploration and keep players engaged, there is one quite terrifying quest in the game that seems unfinished, and developers can work on it properly this time.

In Brazil, a country of overwhelming scale and opportunity, it’s fully fitting that its project pitching event at the industry heart of Rio2C is equally super-sized.
Over June 5-7, the Rio2C Market will host 30 film-tv pitches, presentations from 24 startups and 12 pocket music acts, plus both a dozen creator pitches and another dozen unveils of literary IPs looking for big or small screen adaptation.
The 30 Audiovisual Pitching Sessions also reflect powerful market forces at work in Brazil and beyond.
There are six Sessions in all. Half of their categories are new, however: True Crime, Impact Content and Sports.
“The demand for non-fiction audiovisual content “has never been higher,” said Diego Assis, Universo Online’s general manager of special features, when drilling down on the strategic partnership between Uol, the biggest Brazilian internet portal, and Lb Entertainment, behind “Sintonia,” Netflix’s biggest franchise in Brazil.

Starfield, the action RPG title from Bethesda Game Studios, was released last year and received generally favorable reviews from fans and critics alike. The developer is now working on the Dlc titled Shattered Space, which is scheduled to launch later this year, but there is no launch date yet.
The Elden Ring Dlc will also be released soon, on June 21, 2024, and it is the biggest ever from Hidetaka Miyazaki and FromSoftware. The Dlc seems to be a big rival to the Shadow of the Erdtree and could compete with the highly anticipated Dlc.

The upcoming Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has built significant anticipation among fans of the Warhammer 40K series. While the singleplayer campaign promises a brutal and immersive experience within the dystopian universe, multiplayer fans also have a lot to look forward to.
The newly revealed Operations mode should satisfy the needs of co-op enthusiasts, but Space Marine 2 will also introduce a 6v6 PvP mode dubbed Eternal War, which could end up taking the spotlight away from another scathingly popular multiplayer game: Helldivers 2.
Operations Is A Deep And Robust Multiplayer Mode
Operations will allow players to choose from six factions | Saber
Unlike Warhammer 40K single-player campaigns where players control a Space Marine, Operations throws players into a class-based system, allowing for tactical squad composition as each of the six unique classes will have a specific focus and a powerful bespoke weapon.

Teddiscare began life as another Winnie the Pooh horror film, but after “receiving a “cease and desist” from another company who made a killer teddy bear movie based of [sic] a popular character with a copyright that had recently entered public domain, we consulted with an amazing lawyer”. Said lawyer told them a larger company was about to start suing anyone who used the character, so they decided to just change the name. I wonder how brilliant they think that lawyer is now that Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 3 is going into production as well as a killer Bambi film and Disney hasn’t unleashed their lawyers?
Teddiscare opens with news on the radio about a worker falling into the machinery at a toy factory and bits of his body being stuffed into hundreds of teddy bears.

If you are looking for some Disney Crocs, we have some new choices for you based on “Toy Story” characters. Two designs are for kid and one is for adults. Of course, I would not recommend wearing these on any escalators, especially the infamous Croc-eating one at Epcot’s The Land pavilion.

Sizes 11 – 3 are available.

The horror genre of video games consistently finds new ways to innovate and push the boundaries of what scares players. Silent Breath, a first-person psychological horror title developed by solo outfit Exodiac Studios, brings the scares with an incredibly clever gameplay mechanic.
Powered by Unreal Engine 5 and plunging players into the middle of a forest with highly realistic found footage visuals, this upcoming game promises a unique brand of terror that hinges on a single, chilling mechanic – silence is your only weapon.

"Star Trek: Enterprise" debuted on September 26, 2001, the sixth official "Star Trek" series since the debut of Gene Roddenberry's original in 1966. "Enterprise" came right at the end of a massive "Star Trek" renaissance that saw the 1987 debut of the massively successful "Star Trek: The Next Generation," the 1993 debut of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," the 1995 debut of "Star Trek: Voyager," and the release of "Star Trek: Generations," "Star Trek: First Contact," and "Star Trek: Insurrection" in theaters. The glut of "Star Trek" was a dream for TV programmers who would often schedule entire blocks of the franchise merely to puff up their docket. Personally, this author recalls a time when "NextGen," "DS9," and the original series would run back-to-back-to-back on certain weeknights.
The Sci-Fi Channel, now called Syfy, also leaned heavily on "Star Trek" when it launched back in 1992. "Star Trek" reruns became part of the nascent cable station's bread and butter,...

To mark Alien Day, we head back to the late 1970s to see how Hr Giger designed the Space Jockey – and its strange fate after the film’s premiere…
In the early hours of Tuesday, the 29th May 1979, someone killed the Space Jockey. Burned it alive, perhaps with a blowtorch even something more mundane like a match or a cigarette. The crime occurred four days after the premiere of Alien at Hollywood’s Grauman’s Egyptian Theater, and was reported on by at least one outlet at the time: sci-fi magazine, Starlog.
“The Los Angeles opening of Alien was marked by misfortune when a miniature version of the film’s ‘starpilot’ was destroyed with fire,” the news story ran, garbling the Space Jockey’s name somewhat. “It was set ablaze by vandals just hours after being placed on display in the forecourt of Hollywood’s Egyptian Theatre. Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver is a drastically more watchable film than its predecessor, which spent so much time place-setting that it forgot to tell an actual story. The Scargiver is, essentially, the propulsive second and third acts that Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire was missing. All the heroes that our heroine, Kora (Sofia Boutella), collected in the first film have finally arrived on the farming planet of Veldt, ready to help defend it against the encroaching fascist armies of the Motherworld. From here, it’s basically the fast and loose Seven Samurai redux that A Child of Fire had been hinting at from minute one, with our legendary heroes helping to prepare this village of pacifist farmers to go to war.
Once the first shots get fired, Snyder’s directorial muscle is on full display. The fights are big, bombastic, beautifully shot,...

In case you’ve forgotten (I certainly did), Disney has been developing a Space Mountain movie based on the popular theme park attraction. It’s been a while since we last heard about the project, but THR reports that the studio has tapped Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec to pen the script.
Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec are best known for writing Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but from what I understand, the Space Mountain ride doesn’t really have any memorable scenes or characters like those found in Pirates of the Caribbean, so the project could really go in any direction.
Related The CW picks up the Transylvania pilot
The Space Mountain movie was first announced close to four years ago, with Joby Harold (Obi-Wan Kenobi) set to write and produce.

‘The Acolyte’ is the first live-action series set in the High Republic era and the second overall (after ‘Young Jedi Adventures’). Headland, a longtime Star Wars fan since her teens, eagerly seized the opportunity to contribute something fresh and distinct to the franchise. She described ‘Acolyte’ as a blend of ‘Frozen’ and ‘Kill Bill’, drawing inspiration from Wuxia films and Samurai action.
The trailer hinted at these influences, with Headland emphasizing that ‘Acolyte’ will showcase Jedi outnumbering Sith for the first time in Star Wars history.
In her recent interview with Empire Magazine, Headland described her motivation to tell a story from the perspective of the antagonists.
I was driven to write a story that essentially was from the perspective of the bad guys. I write that way with my other work. I am always attracted to amoral – or immoral – characters, and finding the humanity within the villains

There are games that can really achieve what all video games strive for: the ability to make players enjoy the experience. Helldivers 2 is one of the titles that can generate almost unlimited fun with one hilarious moment after another.
With a very active community and sense of companionship, there are epic moments that happen organically in every new mission. This time a couple of players make a dive to reach a door before it closes, like Indiana Jones in one of the chambers with treasures. Unfortunately, this didn’t go as expected.
A Helldivers 2 Player Tried an Iconic Indiana Jones Move but Ended up Without Legs Indiana Jones makes some kind of cameo in Helldivers 2.
One of Helldivers 2‘s features, like a passive skill, is the ability to generate fun and epic moments at any time. The co-op third-person shooter obligates the player to work as a team to accomplish every mission.

So with Killer Klowns From Outer Space: The Game, you’ve got the Chiodo Bros. involved, you’ve got the classic Dickies song, and you’ve got the classic Klown mannerisms with the gameplay. So what more do you want? How about female Klowns?
With IllFonic’s panel at Pax East yesterday, Stephen Chiodo accidentally let loose news that female Klowns will be coming to the game (which X user Nyzechu caught on film). “That wasn’t on my list of things not to say,” Stephen joked before Edward Chiodo told attendees to refrain from telling anyone. “I think I’m gonna be cocooned,” said Stephen.
“You know what? You’ve gotta let the little things out of the bag. It’s not gonna ruin anything,” Charles Chiodo quipped. The panel did go on to say that they do have more klowns and more content for the game that they haven’t talked about.

"Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" isn't quite like any other "Star Trek" show, and when it debuted in 1993, it was quite the departure from both the original series and "Star Trek: The Next Generation." Instead of following intrepid explorers on starships trekking across the galaxy, "Deep Space Nine" followed the stories of the people who lived on board the space station Deep Space Nine (DS9) — civilians, Bajoran militia, and Starfleet officers alike. Showrunner Rick Berman was in charge of taking the "Star Trek" universe in a new direction following the success of "The Next Generation," but he ended up looking to a rather old television series for inspiration.
In an interview with StarTrek.com, Berman explained the inspiration behind "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" and revealed that he and writer/producer Michael Piller got their biggest idea from a classic 1950s Western. That's pretty great given the fact that "Star Trek...

An upcoming Steam exclusive, Bears in Space is set to release on 22nd March 2024. The first look of the game suggests an eerie cross between Fortnite and High on Life with a tinge of Mars Attacks! added for good measure.
The game, which is set in a retro-futuristic setting in Space, lets players turn into a bear as they take on an army of robots with an extravagant arsenal.
If you are a fan of Fps over-the-top shooters with an added element of fantasy and adventure, Bears in Space definitely worth checking out.
High on Life’s Aliens Meet Fortnite’s Fps Gameplay
Bears in Space is unlike any other game released in 2024. The brainchild of 3 friends, the game was conceived 7 years ago. As the name suggests, the friends came up with the idea of a bear going into Space to fight an arm of robotlike aliens in this futuristic shooter with ample retro elements.

Alone in the Dark is an extremely important franchise within the sub-genre of survival horror. The first game in the series is considered by many to be the first true survival horror video game ever released. Thus, without this franchise, other iconic survival horror titles like Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and Alan Wake may never have come to pass.
This is one reason that this reimagining of the original Alone in the Dark was my most anticipated 2024 release, the other reason is because survival horror remakes have been knocking it out of the park lately. Last year alone saw Capcom expertly remaster the iconic Resident Evil 4, after the year opened with EA releasing a masterful remake of the original Dead Space.
All of this combined with the star power of David Harbour and Jodie Comer in the lead roles meant that Pieces Interactive’s 2024 reimagining of Alone in the Dark...

Like all media, Dune: Part Two isn’t immune to criticisms, despite being deemed one of the greatest sequels ever, which is justified following its brilliance in almost every aspect. But while almost every actor excels in the space opera, thus succeeding in maintaining the immersion that we really are on an alien planet, fans couldn’t get behind Christopher Walken’s performance in the film.
While everyone loves Walken, who has been pigeonholed into weird roles throughout his decades-long career, many weren’t fans of his work as the Emperor in Dune 2, stressing he was miscast.

Twice a month Joe Lipsett will dissect a new Amityville Horror film to explore how the “franchise” has evolved in increasingly ludicrous directions. This is “The Amityville IP.”
The law of horror movie franchises is that eventually, without fail, you go to space.
It’s fitting, then, that the final outing for prolific Amityville writer/director Mark Polonia takes the “franchise” into the furthest reaches of space in the year 3015.
It’s been a few entries since Polonia’s last outing. He’s the creative responsible for Amityville Island, Amityville Exorcism, and Amityville Death House. Of these, Island has some amusingly self-aware bits, Death House has a great spider walk finale, and…well, the less said about Exorcism the better.
Where does Amityville in Space fall? Alas, it skews closer to Exorcism than the others. Not helping matters is that this latest film shares a character – Father Benna (Jeff Kirkendall...

Paul (Cage) and his two sons, Thomas (Jenkins) and Joseph (Martell), have been living a half-life – tranquility by day and torment by night. Colloquially among Trekkies, the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "Up the Long Ladder" is known as "The one with the Space Irish." Or maybe I'm the only one who refers to it that way. Regardless, "Up the Long Ladder" features the Space Irish. In the episode, the U.S.S. Enterprise has to evacuate a colony on the planet Bringloid V, as their sun is experiencing solar flares. Long ago, the Bringloidians adopted an Irish agrarian lifestyle, and they bring along their livestock, hay, and twee Irish accents. The colony's patriarch, Danielo O'Dell (Barrie Ingham), is a caricature Irish drunk, and his daughter Breanna (Rosalyn Landor) is a typically haughty Irish lass.
It's later revealed that the Bringloidians represent only half of a century-old transport ship, and that the rest of the settlers formed their own colony on a nearby planet. The second colony, called Mariposa, is technologically advanced,...

Zack Snyder finally got to make his long-rumored Star Wars movie, except this one has the “violence, sex, and swearing.” That’s according to actor Ed Skrein, who plays the evil Admiral Atticus Noble in the new Netflix sci-fi epic, Rebel Moon. Headed to the streaming service next week, the latest Snyder film is the culmination of a long journey for the director, who first pitched his idea for a more mature, “Seven Samurai in space” to Lucasfilm in the early days of the Disney take over. While the Mouse House didn’t bite back then, Netflix was happy to oblige as part of an ongoing collaboration with the director, which began the 2021 smash hit Army of the Dead.
As you likely guessed, Rebel Moon follows a similar setup to the galaxy far, far away. A group of freedom fighters led by a warrior with a dark past named Kora...

Going to Mars: The Nikki Giovanni Project centers on the poet, with Giovanni herself on screen. Co-director Joe Brewster said he did not want to do a traditional documentary or biopic, and drew inspiration from documentaries on James Baldwin and Kurt Cobain.
“We actually pitched it as I Am Not Your Negro meets Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck,” Brewster said at Deadline’s Contenders Film: Documentary.
Co-director Michèle Stephenson added that she wanted the film to center on Giovanni, rather than other talking heads reflecting on her impact.
“Some of our visual vision and story vision came out of a bit of frustration with watching certain biographical documentaries,” Stephenson said. “We wanted to center her and her work and see everything through her voice to get a sense of how the process, the artistic poetry-making process happened.”

Once per season, the makers of "Futurama" like to tinker with their formula by presenting speculative anthology-style episodes wherein they can tell stories that are even wilder than usual. The second edition of this format was entitled "Anthology of Interest II" and aired on January 6, 2002. The wraparound device for "Interest II" was that the Professor (Billy West) invented a TV-like device called the What-If Machine which could present short videos of whatever speculative question one thought to ask it.
Fry (West), being something of a shiftless layabout, announces that he's only ever been proficient at old-school video games, and asks the What-If Machine what life would be like were it to adhere to the rules of said video games. He and the rest of the "Futurama" characters find themselves in a world where diplomatic talks between Earth and the planet Nindenduu 64 have broken down, causing Donkey Kong to throw a...

Whether it's funny ("Do you guys ever think about dying?"), introspective, or memeable ("my job is just beach"), there are so many fantastic lines to choose as a favorite. During an interview with BBC Radio 1, Gerwig confessed that her favorite line reading is one of the film's most unexpected laughs.
Interviewer Ali Plumb said that one of his favorite line readings was when Stereotypical Barbie looked toward the sky on her drive and sees two Astronaut Barbies floating in the sky, and declares "Yay, space!" Gerwig immediately interjected with excitement, "Yay, space! That's my favorite, that's my favorite!" The line has gotten a huge laugh in every screening I've been a part of because the simplistic expression of joy is contagious. Space is something many of us are fascinated by,...

Released in 1996, and co-directed by makeup effects artist Kevin Yagher and Joe Chappelle, fourth franchise installment Hellraiser: Bloodline served the dual role of being a prequel and a sequel, telling a centuries-spanning story that documents the puzzle box’s beginning and end. While horror fans have come to appreciate the ambitious “Pinhead in Space” movie in recent years, it’s the behind the scenes drama of the production that often takes center stage.
For starters, Kevin Yagher was replaced by Joe Chappelle before production was completed, and both filmmakers ultimately declined to have their names attached to the finished product.
That’s why Hellraiser: Bloodline is credited to the fake director “Alan Smithee.”
As Meagan Navarro explained here on Bd back in 2020, “Writer Peter Atkins and director Kevin Yagher originally envisioned a sprawling story that took place in three separate timelines, with the past, present, and future tied to a single man.
