In the glamorous world of Hollywood, where stars often seem to lead fairy-tale lives, the reality behind the scenes can be far from glamorous. Sylvester Stallone, renowned for his portrayal of Rocky Balboa, has been in the public eye not only for his cinematic achievements but also for the challenging chapters of his personal life. One such chapter was his whirlwind romance with Brigitte Nielsen, which captivated the public as the two became one of the most iconic celebrity couples of the 1980s.

As we know, Wonder Woman 3 is no longer moving forward now that James Gunn and Peter Safran have taken over DC Studios, but it’s a choice Chris Pine doesn’t understand.
Chris Pine. who played Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman 1984, told Business Insider that he was “stunned” when he learned Wonder Woman 3 had been axed. “I’m stunned that they said no to a billion-dollar franchise and decided to pivot elsewhere,” Pine said “I don’t know what the reasoning was behind that; it’s above my pay grade, but Wonder Woman is an incredible character; Patty is such a thoughtful director.”
The actor had no expectations that he would have been involved in the third movie. “Me. No. Homie is dead. Steve is gonzo,” he said. “It would be ridiculous to try to bring me back.” Trevor was killed off in the first Wonder Woman...

Oftentimes, a sequel to a much-beloved film fails to meet the expectations set by its predecessors, which eventually ends up tainting the original’s legacy. Fortunately, this wasn’t the case with Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky, arguably his most iconic franchise, which is still going strong with Michael B. Jordan taking its reign with the Creed features.
However, getting the first sequel off the ground wasn’t easy, and if it wasn’t for one plot twist, Rocky might not have gone on to become one of the most celebrated franchises in the sports genre.

Sylvester Stallone's "Rambo" movies might not be as beloved as his "Rocky" films, but they've had just as fascinating a trajectory. What's more, they've been incredibly influential in the history of action movies, charting the general evolution of the genre across four decades. If you want to get an insight into the state of action filmmaking at a certain time, "Rambo" films are a good gauge.
"First Blood," the inaugural "Rambo" film, was noteworthy for blending what are now well-known action tropes with an attempt at exploring the very real issue of Ptsd in the context of the Vietnam War. Stallone's John J. Rambo was introduced as a former United States Army Special Forces officer who despite his preternatural combat skills was haunted by his experiences overseas. Following that, the character of Rambo underwent somewhat of a transformation throughout the '80s, becoming the epitome of the muscle-bound,...

In 1985, Cannon Films brought us a Chuck Norris action movie called Invasion USA, which involved Norris’s character – former CIA agent Matt Hunter – trying to stop an invasion of the United States that’s being carried out (in December) by a team of Soviet and Cuban guerrillas headed up by a villain played by Richard Lynch. It’s a violent, explosive shoot ’em up that makes for good Christmastime viewing alongside classics like Lethal Weapon, First Blood, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, and Die Hard. It wasn’t a massive hit (it made $17.5 million on a budget of $12 million) and didn’t go over well with critics – but it has its fans, and apparently even helped overthrow the Communist government of Romania!

Sylvester Stallone, for the better part of the last century, has defined the action genre in the film industry. Not only did he showcase how heroes can be chiseled, sculpted masses of muscle but can be extremely vulnerable and emotionally wounded. And nothing holds more true than his extremely famous Rambo franchise.

Rambo is one of the longest-running action franchises in the world, with its first movie premiering in 1982 to the last installment released in 2019. The tale of the broken one-man-army Vietnam war veteran has inspired not just Americans but millions of people across the world. And so to have it back is a lifelong dream of every Stallone fan. While Stallone would not likely return, the actor has pitched Barbie star Ryan Gosling as the perfect contender if a Rambo remake is ever made.

For all that fans have, and will ever continue to, argue about what is canon in the world of Doctor Who, the fact remains that it is a world of fuzzy edges, edges will only get fuzzier now that Russell T Davies has introduced “the Doctor-verse”.
The TV series itself is like a piece of grit in the oyster of fandom, and around that grit has formed a pearl made of Big Finish audios and novels and comic books and tabletop Rpgs and videogames. Megastar Sylvester Stallone has been a prominent action figure in the entertainment industry. Stallone gained initial stardom by playing the role of a boxer Rocky Balboa in the Rocky franchise and films like Rambo. These films became a cultural phenomenon in the 70s and have reached a cult classic status since then.
In his decades-long career, Stallone has done predominantly action films and established himself as an action god of Hollywood. It is slightly surprising that after being in the genre for the entirety of his career, Stallone has now chosen to change paths and delve into murder mystery. Here’s what we know of his new endeavor.

Sylvester Stallone appeared on a recent episode of “The Tonight Show” and gave Ryan Gosling his blessing to star as the next Rambo in a potential revival of Stallone’s iconic action franchise. Stallone played the United States Army Special Forces veteran in five movies. The first “Rambo” opened in 1982. Stallone presumably said goodbye to the franchise in 2019’s “Rambo: Last Blood.”
“I met [Ryan Gosling] at a dinner,” Stallone said when asked why Gosling is his top pick to play a new iteration of Rambo. “Obviously we are opposites. He’s good looking. I’m not. Seriously! Could you imagine me as Ken? It doesn’t work at all.”

Two shady figures walk into a club, raising the suspicions of Detective Axel Foley. Foley needs help to deal with both men, but the pair of officers keeping an eye on him — Sergeant Taggart (John Ashton) and Detective Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) — don’t trust him. Furthermore, he’s in a public place, which means that his actions could harm civilians.
After his pleading convinces Taggart and Rosewood to help out, Axel approaches one of the potential troublemakers.
“Phillip!” Foley shouts, adopting the stagger and slurred speech patterns of a drunk man as he approaches the confused suspect. Foley continues the act even after the suspect pulls a gun and threatens the patrons, which allows him to get close enough to yank the weapon away.

We all have the inherent understanding that our lives are part of a larger system, an infrastructure that's not only the one humanity has constructed for itself but the one that's existed for many more thousands of years: the natural ecosystem of the planet that we live on. However, it seems that our goal as human beings has been to implicitly make our lives more relaxed, more convenient, and more catered to our every whim, with little care or understanding for how it affects everything around us.
Case in point: the honey bee. While it's general knowledge that bees are a vital part of our ecosystem and their populations are declining (due in large part to climate change), it's also true that not enough is being done to help stop it. The action genre, when boiled down to its core essence, is about overcoming injustice: whether action heroes are on...

So goes one of the coolest one-liners I have ever heard, and it’s part of one of the most unheralded Christmas action movies ever. Now, Christmas action movies have always been a thing. Something about the juxtaposition of the holidays and ultra-violent action has always been irresistible to Hollywood. In movies like First Blood and To Live and Die in LA, the holiday theme makes the desperately violent scenario all the more grim. At the same time, other classics like Lethal Weapon and Die Hard ultimately have Christmas messages about friendship and family that come through just as strongly as in a straight-up Christmas movie like It’s a Wonderful Life.
Yet, not every Christmas action flick becomes a classic, which brings me to this special Christmas edition of The Best Movie You Never Saw, where we tackle the Dolph Lundgren Actioner I Come In Peace,...

In the 1990 "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "The Hunted," the U.S.S. Enterprise has arrived at a world called Angosia III to give the planet a final once-over before they are accepted into the Federation. Everything seems pleasant and copacetic, and the planet's Prime Minister Nayrok (James Cromwell) seems enlightened. As one might predict, something afoul is afoot. Nayrok tells Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart) that a dangerous criminal has escaped from an Angosian prison on one of their moons. The Enterprise spends a long while tracking this wily prisoner who seems incredibly adept at avoiding detection. Eventually, they do apprehend him and put him in the Enterprise's brig.
This is Roga Danar (Jeff McCarthy), and he did indeed escape from prison, and admits that he is perfectly willing to commit acts of violence to protect himself. The crew of the Enterprise begins looking into the past and character of this mysterious Danar,...

The comedic stylings of the team behind "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" can get pretty raunchy and weird, but actor Danny DeVito has been on board for almost all of their depraved ideas over the years. As Frank Reynolds, the patriarch of "the gang," DeVito has rolled around in hand sanitizer in his underwear, eaten the ingredients of a cake in a dog crate, and more, but there is one bit of the gang's comedy stylings that doesn't really tickle his funny bone. As they often do, the writers of the series turned that discomfort into a joke in one of the episodes, poking fun at the situation through Frank.
On the "Always Sunny Podcast," co-writers/producers/stars Glenn Howerton, Charlie Day, and Rob McElhenney were joined by co-writer and producer Megan Ganz and co-star Kaitlin Olson to discuss the episode "Mac and Dennis: Manhunters," which features the joke in question.

The late 20th century was a wild time to be a kid immersed in the world of pop culture. It was the period that produced Jessica Rabbit, a cartoon character you felt embarrassed to watch with your parents, and a time when stores regularly stocked movie tie-in toys linked to “kid-friendly” fare like Aliens and Terminator 2.
It seemed like nothing was off the table and that was certainly the case in the world of cartoons. Eager to cash in on the appeal of cinematic properties in a way that would give even the MCU pause for thought, a glut of animated shows inspired by movies featuring torture, nudity, beheadings, and buckets of toxic waste found their way onto the small screen. In most cases, the cartoons spawned rarely stuck around for long, but today they stand as examples of a weird and wonderful chapter in the history of small screen entertainment.

I do a show called Sylvester Stallone Revisited on JoBlo Originals, and interviewing the man was a highlight of my career. As such, it was a thrill that this year’s edition of TIFF paid tribute to my idol by premiering the new doc, Sly, which hits Netflix later this fall. A feature-length account of Stallone’s life and time, the ninety-minute doc, which Thom Zimny directs, definitely serves as an inspiring, respectful account of Sly’s life and times. If you’re looking for dirt, go elsewhere – but if you want a deeper appreciation of the icon’s life as an artist, this is for you.
By this point, Stallone’s rise to fame has become nearly mythological.

When you are making a documentary out of the life of someone as magnanimous as Sylvester Sly Stallone, bringing an X-factor to the table is a must. Given that it is coming from the house of Netflix, which has set pretty much a gold standard when it comes to the documentary genre, the audience would expect it to be nothing short of exceptional. Only a few weeks ago, the brilliant David Beckham documentary showed how to do it. Unfortunately, the Stallone documentary couldn’t quite achieve the greatness that it was supposed to. Let us take a closer look into both the “what” and “why” of Sly.
Childhood Was Not Too Kind
Life wasn’t easy for Sly and his brother Frank. The blame for that goes to no one but their parents, who didn’t have an easy marriage. And not only did they fail to protect the kids from the trauma of that,...

Sylvester Stallone is one of the most recognized actors in the industry. His breakout role came in 1976 when he starred in "Rocky," which was such a big hit that it received 10 Oscar nominations and went on to inspire a whole film franchise. It also led Sylvester to land his role as John J. Rambo in 1982 action film "First Blood," which, similarly to "Rocky," resulted in a number of sequels that turned Sylvester into a pop-culture icon. Even decades later, he's still dominating Hollywood with parts in the Creed, Expendables, and Guardians of the Galaxy franchises. However, one of the actor's biggest roles in life is being a father to his five kids.
Sylvester's family is super supportive of his acting career. His wife, Jennifer Flavin, a successful model and entrepreneur, frequently attends Sylvester's movie premieres, and so do the couple's three daughters: Sophia Rose, Sistine Rose, and Scarlet Rose Stallone.

If you want to enjoy some often very good and often very bad action movies, the "Rambo" franchise is for you. And if you want to watch the strange and often disturbing trajectory of America's political core over nearly 40 years of cinema, the "Rambo" franchise is also for you. By accident or design, Sylvester Stallone's famed action series contains multitudes. They're macho, violent, ridiculous one-man-army movies. They're also propaganda, apologies for propaganda, and then propaganda again. They demand popcorn, and a crowd ready to hoot and holler. But also analysis.
But few film franchises outside of "Fast and Furious" have titles as confusing as the "Rambo" movies, which defy common logic and may have you, the John Rambo newbie, wondering if there's a trick to watching these things. Honestly, the key is to watch them in order of production. It's the only way to appreciate the series' loose continuity and,...

As the Hollywood strikes stretched to Week 23, optimism is high that a deal between signatories and SAG-AFTRA is close and the town can go back to work. That enthusiasm could be felt with all the deal stories that Deadline broke this week, a clear signal of hope.
Not so fast, says Deadline Strike Talk host Billy Ray. Citing examples that range from director Ted Kotcheff changing the death of John Rambo in First Blood to Jackie Robinson retiring rather than the lifelong Dodger accepting a deal to play for the Giants and all that Jimmy Carter accomplished post-White House, Ray implores SAG-AFTRA to remember it isn’t who drew first blood but who sticks the landing. And for actors, that means safeguards against AI.

“Do I have regrets?” asks Sylvester Stallone at the beginning of “Sly,” the Thom Zimny documentary about him that served as the closing-night film at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival on Saturday. “Hell yeah, I have regrets.”
Putting that quote up front is a smart way to introduce a film about the man whose career sometimes seems to have resulted in equal parts iconography and mockery. The actor, screenwriter and director created the classic characters Rocky Balboa and John Rambo, but struggled to find respect and made more than his share of terrible films.
Another smart move: New conversations with Stallone run throughout the film, but these are not the usual talking-head interviews in which the subject sits in a chair and runs through his life. Instead, Stallone almost always talks to the camera while standing up and moving around.

Sylvester Stallone says screening the 1958 Hollywood adventure fantasy flick Hercules, starring Steve Reeves, changed his life when he was 12 years of age.
“I was very lucky, in the golden age of films, when dialogue was important. But the dialogue didn’t move me as much as the actual physical embodiment of overcoming odds,” Stallone said of movies that tap into ancient mythology during an in-conversation appearance at the Toronto Film Festival on Friday afternoon.
He was also influenced by comic books when conjuring up action hero fantasies in his head. “Coming to the rescue, not so much as a superhero, just as a guy who was forced to,” Stallone said of early artistic inspirations.
He also talked about getting a job as an usher in a cinema house after college to do more than take tickets at the turnstile. He got an education in movie-making. “Watching those films over and over and over,...

Sylvester Stallone and his former rival Arnold Schwarzenegger were both Hollywood’s premiere action stars back in their heyday. But Stallone felt it was much easier for Schwarzenegger and others to get away with funny one-liners back then.

Stallone and Schwarzenegger had similar trajectories and career paths. They were both primarily known for their classic action films, and the physical ability they brought to their roles.
But Stallone felt there was an important comedic element separating his films from the likes of Schwarzenegger’s and others. At the time, Stallone believed audiences were more willing to accept comedy in a Schwarzenegger picture than in a Stallone movie.
“Arnold and Bruce Willis can get away with things that I can’t. For example, they can make jokes about what they’re doing.

Sylvester Stallone believed that George Lucas’ Star Wars caused a huge shift in the film industry. To the actor, the technology used in the sci-fi films had an understated side-effect on action movies as a whole.

Stallone has always put in a lot of thought and emotion into his action roles. One of the reasons he held one of his first action films, First Blood, in such high regard was because of his performance. Stallone’s mercenary John Rambo had little dialogue in the feature. The actor used his solid physique to emote his character’s feelings.
“That’s why I think First Blood is one of the first action films. I relied on body acting to tell the story. The character never talks, but you know exactly what’s going on through the other characters.

Sylvester Stallone created a franchise that spawned from Rambo: First Blood. But he soon felt the iconic action hero was coming close to his end.

Rambo: First Blood wasn’t supposed to be the beginning of a film series. The movie’s mercenary John Rambo was initially slated to die in the first movie, which would’ve been more in line with the source material. The film’s director, Ted Kotcheff, initially had no plans to tinker with Rambo’s natural conclusion.
“I conceived of First Blood as Rambo’s suicide mission,” Kotcheff said according to Yahoo. “The film was basically conceived as Rambo’s tragedy, that mirrored the tragedy of so many of the veterans that I talked to. Sylvester Stallone starred in a few iconic action movies during his prime years. And the actor felt his era of blockbusters had something that current franchises like Marvel lacked.
Sylvester Stallone thought Marvel lacked the subtleties of past action films Sylvester Stallone | Matt Winkelmeyer/Getty Images
Stallone has been mostly unimpressed with modern day action films, especially when the vast majority of them have been superheroes. The actor felt like he came from a time where action films were a bit more grounded, focusing on character work as much as spectacle.
Many of Stallone’s past action movies also dealt with real backgrounds and practical effects that might have added authenticity to his films. Meanwhile, he believed that the superhero movies of today relief too much on CGI.

Raven Banner Entertainment continues to rack up sales for Richard V. Somes’ action spectacle “Topakk.”
“Topakk”(“Trigger”) has been sold to Aud (South Korea), Superfine Films (India), Kinologistika (Cis and the Baltics) and Lighthouse (German-speaking Europe).
It’s not the end of good news, as the film – debuting its trailer and produced by Fusee, with Strawdogs Studio Production and Nathan Studios co-producing – is also set to bow at Locarno next week.
“It’s an amazing feeling. I have never imagined it,” admits the director.
In “Topakk,” which he co-wrote with Jim Flores and Will Fredo, Somes shows a man struggling with Ptsd. Discharged from the army, he finds himself in the middle of a different kind of conflict when a drug peddler seeks his protection against a vigilante death squad.
“I am really inspired by the 1980s action films. It all started with ‘First Blood’ or even [Arnold Schwarzenegger starrer] ‘Commando.

Plot: A deep dive into all the great movies that came out in 1982.
Review: Everyone has their own take on the greatest year ever for cinema. Scholars tend to cite 1939, as that’s the year Gone With The Wind, The Wizard of Oz, Gunga Din, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, and several other seminal classics came out. Modern film fans tend to cite 1999, thanks to The Matrix, Fight Club, Being John Malkovich, Magnolia and many more. I’d make a strong case for 2007 myself, with Into the Wild, The Assassination of Jesse James, Gone Baby Gone, Zodiac, There Will Be Blood, No Country for Old Men, and others. But, if you’re a movie geek, one year stands above them all, and it’s 1982.
Think about it. E.T., The Thing, Star Trek II, Rocky III, Poltergeist, Blade Runner, the list goes on and on. And now, 1982 is getting a...

Quentin Tarantino found inspiration from a lot of sources when he became a filmmaker. But seeing what Sylvester Stallone did with Rocky had a significant impact on him as a youth.
How Sylvester Stallone inspired Quentin Tarantino Quentin Tarantino | Jacopo M. Raule/Getty Images
Sylvester Stallone has been very candid about the difficulties and challenges he faced getting Rocky to the big screen. Stallone wrote the Rocky script in 3 days out of desperation before bargaining with the studio to star in the feature. It was a success story that motivated many in the film industry such as Matt Damon.
It also had a hand in inspiring Tarantino’s own passions. So much so that he cheered Stallone on when Rocky was nominated for best picture.
“Rocky was a very important movie to me when I saw it at 12 or 13. It didn’t make me want to be a filmmaker, but...

The lineup for the 2023 San Diego Comic-Con has been unveiled, giving attendees – and those refreshing their browsers the entire weekend – a little less to look forward to but still plenty of panels, reveals and anniversary spotlights. The 2023 Comic-Con is a far more limited affair this year due to major players like Marvel, Sony, Universal, Disney, and more dropping out at least partly due to the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike. And with deadlines on the potential Screen Actors Guild strike quickly approaching, could only harm the event even more.
Here are some of the highlights of the 2023 San Diego Comic-Con:
Thursday, July 20th:

Project K – “From the heartland of India emerges a unique tale that intertwines ancient mythology with cutting-edge science fiction, all within the captivating Spice Punk aesthetic. Welcome to Project K,...

When Ugandan action filmmaker Isaac Nabwana lists off some of the great action stars that became a huge personal inspiration, he says names like Bud Spencer, Chuck Norris, and Bruce Lee, but then he says Rambo (as opposed to Sylvester Stallone). Sylvester Stallone is taking a trip down memory lane and pulling the curtain back on his film rivalry with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The two actors, both known for dominating the action movie genre in the ’80s, recently shed light on their film rivalry in the new Netflix docu-series “Arnold”.
“The ’80s was a very interesting time because the definitive ‘action guy’ had not really been formed yet,” Stallone recounts. “Up until that time, action was a car chase like ‘Bullitt‘ or ‘The French Connection‘, and a film all about intellect and innuendo and verbal this and verbal that.”
