Class is back in session at your favorite school for edgy teens! Wait no, I'm not talking about "Euphoria" High — think back to the golden era of teen angst when TV seasons were 40 episodes long and high schoolers doing drugs was considered controversial. That's right, "Degrassi" is back and it's heading to HBO Max, the official home of all things chaotic-teen related. This new saga marks the sixth series in the franchise, following "The Kids of Degrassi Street" (1979-1986), "Degrassi Junior High" (1987-1989), "Degrassi High" (1989-1991), "Degrassi: The Next Generation" (2001-2015) and the Netflix continuation, "Degrassi: Next Class" (2016-2017).

Whatever it takes, Degrassi always makes it through. It’s been announced that a new version of the beloved teen drama is headed to streamer HBO Max in 2023. The series has been off the air since 2017, after four seasons of Degrassi: Next Class on Netflix, but paraphrasing a Degrassi classic song, “everybody wants Degrassi and they’ll never give up.”
Details about the new series are scant at the moment, though we do know the show is being helmed by Lara Azzopardi and Julia Cohen, writers who’ve worked on such shows as The Bold Type, Riverdale, and A Million Little Things, but most importantly they previously wrote an episode Degrassi: The Next Generation. The new show is also set to launch with 10 hour-long serialized episodes, switching the long running format of half hour installments the franchise has had up to this point.

Let's take you back to school with a look at every single Degrassi theme song!
Degrassi has been running in Canada since 1979, and in that time it has had a lot of different opening themes. I mean a lot. Have you seen those compilations on YouTube? They run upwards of fifteen minutes! You can put that thing on loop for hours and have some solid jams.
Even if we haven't had any new Degrassi since Degrassi: Next Class on Netflix, a friend of mine and I were comparing the new opening sequence to the older ones and it became a two hour conversation. What does each opening say about the series? What is it trying to convey? Is it effective? I know this is a lot of thought to put into a Canadian teen drama, but the thing has been on for over 35 years! This is a...

Netflix has saved another television show from ending. The video streaming service will bring a new season of the teen Canadian cable series Degrassi: The Next Generation to its platform sometime in 2016.
Starting in the ‘80s as after-school specials called The Kids of Degrassi Street, Degrassi: The Next Generation follows the drama and joys of high schoolers attending Degrassi Community School. The show addresses issues young adults encounter in their lives, such as body issues, violence, sexuality, substance abuse, and racism. Viacom’s TeenNick cancelled Degrassi after more than ten seasons on Canadian cable TV.
Netflix’s new season of the show will be called Degrassi: Next Class. The episodes will pick up the same story threads and themes as the original Canadian series, and will be produced by the show’s original production company Epitome Pictures.
“For more than three decades, this groundbreaking show has been reaching teens with...

The Degrassi franchise has built a reputation for longevity over the course of its run, as the series focusing on the trials and tribulations of students and teachers at the fictional Degrassi school first began in 1979 with The Kids of Degrassi Street. The latest incarnation of the series, titled Degrassi: The Next Generation, has been running since 2001, and has been the starting and breakout show for numerous current stars, including rapper Drake, The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev, and former 90210 star Shenae Grimes.
TeenNick, however, the show’s Us broadcaster, recently announced the cancellation of the series, bringing it to a close after 14 seasons, and signalling the apparent end of the Degrassi franchise once again. The show’s final season is poised to begin on July 20th and be comprised of 12 episodes, coming to an end on July 31st.

A list has been compiled of the 50 most influential TV shows since 1963.
Swiss ratings company The Wit compiled the list to mark the 50th anniversary of the Cannes Mip TV trade show.
However, because the BBC refused to make clips of its shows available - its shows were excluded from the rundown.
Virginia Mouseler of The Wit told the Daily Mail: "We included shows that had a huge impact around the world by being distributed to many different countries.
"Secondly, we picked shows that may be less well known internationally, but that had a big impact in their own country."
She added: "We really wanted to put Doctor Who top of the list. But as the BBC wouldn't give us the rights to show a clip on the website, we had to replace it with Astro Boy, which was created in the same year.

On April 7, Mike Wallace, the lion of the TV news magazine died. Wallace was more than a news man. He was a former actor and game show host who found a way to seamlessly blend news and entertainment into a combination that was far more than a sum of its parts. Wallace -- first on Night Beat, then on 60 Minutes -- didn't just investigate or report. He turned interviewing into a blood sport -- becoming both one of the most liked and feared men on television as a result. He brought the same intensity and enthusiasm to every interview -- be it entertainers, world leaders or criminals -- even once calling Ayatollah Khomeini a lunatic, to his face.
This got him into trouble at times -- settling a lawsuit with General Westmoreland; losing a battle with CBS over a tobacco industry whistleblower -- but it also made him something rare...
