The ultimate emo festival, When We Were Young, will return for its third year in 2024 with a slight change to its format: each set will feature the top-to-bottom performance of a defining album from each act. My Chemical Romance — who helmed the event’s first year in 2022 — will headline once again, this time performing Welcome to the Black Parade in full. Fall Out Boy will also headline, but no specific album has been attached to their set yet.

There were a lot of things about "Star Wars: Episode VI -- The Return of the Jedi" that gave fans closure for the trilogy. The second Death Star was blown up. The Emperor (Ian McDiarmid) was defeated. Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) finally admitted their feelings and kissed. We also found out that Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and Leia were siblings and saw Darth Vader redeemed and unmasked before his death. That last one might have been wonderful for fans, but for David Prowse, who did all the physical work for the role (with the voice of James Earl Jones replacing his own), it was a disappointment.
That is according to an interview with Prowse with Rock Cellar Magazine in 2012. The actor, who passed away at the age of 85 in 2020, had been a bodybuilder, helped train Christopher Reeve for his 1978 "Superman" role, and appeared in projects like "A Clockwork Orange,...

Exclusive: Following the success of Shonda Rhimes-produced steamy Regency romance Bridgerton, Netflix is betting on another soapy period drama produced by a top showrunner from its roster of overall deals, Orange Is the New Black creator Jenji Kohan. The streamer has given an eight-episode series order to The Decameron, from Kathleen Jordan, creator of Netflix’s Teenage Bounty Hunters, and Kohan who executive produced the teen drama alongside her.
Created by Jordan, who serves as showrunner, The Decameron is set in 1348 when the Black Death, the deadliest pandemic in human history which killed as many as 200 million people, strikes hard in the city of Florence. A handful of nobles are invited to retreat with their servants to a grand villa in the Italian countryside and wait out the pestilence with a lavish holiday. But as social rules wear thin, what starts as a wine-soaked sex romp in the hills...

Exclusive: Josh Radnor (Hunters), Annie Parisse (Friends from College) and Nuala Cleary (The Crowded Room) will topline the period drama Three Birthdays from writer-director Jane Weinstock (The Moment), which has wrapped production. Other actors set for the pic include Jasmine Batchelor (New Amsterdam), Uly Schlesinger (Generation), Gus Birney (Shining Vale), Guy Burnet (Oppenheimer), Annie McNamara (Severance) and Dolly Wells (Doll & Em).
In the indie set in 1970, Radnor and Parisse star as college professor parents to a rebellious 16-year-old played by Cleary. Against the backdrop of the sexual revolution and increasingly violent demonstrations against the war in Vietnam, each member of this nuclear family struggles to reconcile the political with the personal. The film’s producers are Andrea Miller, Chris Collins and James Welling.

On The Affair Season 3 Episode 3 we got to revisit that revolting discussion about sex and consent with Audrey. A discussion only made revolting because Audrey was in the conversation. She's a real piece of work.
But in seeing it again, that meant we were seeing it from the perspective of someone else at the table, which was cool. If anyone wasn't sure as of yet, it was made abundantly clear on whom The Affair focuses when Noah's friend, visiting professor Juliette Le Gall, became a voice of the show.
More than ever before, Noah is the center of The Affair. All other characters have faded into the background a bit, and seem to be there to support his story.
That's not surprising, really. Noah was married and had an affair. The woman with whom he had an affair had a child by another man and appears to...

When Game of Thrones returns to television on April 24th, Game of Unknowns might make for a more accurate title. Now that the show has fully caught up with George R.R. Martin's epic-fantasy novel series A Song of Ice and Fire, both book-readers and newbie viewers are totally in the dark about what's going to happen next. That makes keeping track of the show's sprawling cast and countless subplots more crucial — and more daunting — than ever.

No, I'm most certainly not teary about tonight's episode of The Big Bang Theory, which, even though it had been flat-out spoiled by various factions on the interwebs, not to mention CBS's very detailed and frequently aired promos, which featured Sheldon's most romantic and touching display of love for the long-suffering Amy.Yes, as those oft-repeated promos had spoiled ahead of time, Shamy is back together, y'all. With a knock on her door — rather, a "Knock, knock, knock, Amy" — and a gigantic kiss as he sweeps her up into his arms, Sheldon ends the breakup that began in last season's finale and has taken up quite a bit of storytelling this season. "Penny Dreadful" has wrapped up its morose, bloody, twisty-turny, literary-infused first season, and we -- like you -- have some things to say about last night's finale. We also have some questions that we hope get answered in Season 2, which will likely air a year from now. Just take that in for a second.
Good?
Ok, let's move on. We're going to recap the finale a bit first, then ask some questions. Remember, we're going to be discussing the show in some detail, so thar be Spoilers Ahead.
If you haven't seen "Penny Dreadful" yet, find out where to watch it.
Sir Malcolm Murray and the Not-So-Mysterious Case of Mina Harker
So, while Sir Malcolm and his ragtag group of supernatural warriors were able to kill The Vampire That Dare Not Speak Its Name with what looked like an oversized knitting needle, it wasn't enough to bring his daughter Mina back from the undead.

While John Travolta's public apology for his epic screwup of Idina Menzel's name at the Oscars may have been slightly lacking in any actual apology, but it turns out his private approach was much better.
After introducing Menzel as "Adele Dazeem" before her big performance of "Let It Go," Travolta sent the singer-actress a giant bouquet of flowers to formally apologize, E! News reports.
"He sent her a big, gorgeous bouquet of flowers to her dressing room. It was Huge. It was his apology to her," a source says. "It was clear he felt very bad about it. And by the size of the arrangement it was an obvious 'forgive me please' gesture."
That's loads better than the public statement that was as questionable as the flub itself. In the days following the embarrassing mispronunciation, Travolta's statement read: "I've been beating myself up all day. Then I thought ... What would Idina Menzel say?...

After their segment got cut from the 86th Academy Awards ceremony, Andrew Garfield and the "Batkid" Miles Scott spent the day together at Disneyland, and despite the snub they had a "great time."
"We were happy that Andrew, on his own time, drove to Anaheim on Monday to spend time with Miles and his family," Make-a-Wish spokesperson Josh deBerge tells E! News. "We understand they had a great time."
After rumors started flying that Garfield canceled their skit that was planned to run during the Oscars, both the academy and his rep released a statement revealing that it wasn't Garfield's decision to pull the segment.
"In full collaboration with the academy and the show writer, Andrew prepared a segment for the Oscars to honor Miles Scott as the true hero that he is. At some point overnight on Saturday/Sunday morning, it was decided by those running the show that...

Dawson Leery was almost…Vincent Chase! The Beek himself, James Van Der Beek, revealed to E! News that Entourage star Adrian Grenier tested for both the role of Dawson and Pacey (which went to Joshua Jackson) on Dawson's Creek. And get this: He was actually the studio's first choice for Dawson! "I think he's doing Ok," James said with a laugh at the TCA Press Tour while promoting his new CBS comedy Friends With Better Lives. "I think he ended up doing just fine!" That all went down in 1998, and six years later, Grenier ended up starring as the leading man on HBO's Entourage from 2004 to 2011. All's well that ends well, right? But that doesn't mean the...

Downton Abbey is back, and the premiere episode should have been called "Downton in the Dumps."
The show returned Sunday with a two-hour premiere that picked up six months after the events of the Downton Abbey Christmas Special (spoiler alert!) that left Lady Mary a widow with a young son to raise. (For the full Downton primer, read our precap here.) Come Season 4, Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) is still a shadow of her former self.
Plus, it turns out that Matthew Crawley died without a will, leaving the bulk of his substantial estate to his infant son George. This kicks...

Chris Hemsworth's new movie, "In the Heart of the Sea," is based on a real-life disaster, but the actor and his fellow cast and crew members were nearly part of a disaster of their own when their film set had to be evacuated yesterday due to flash flooding.
Page Six reports that Hemsworth, pictured above on set last month, was in La Gorma, Canary Islands, off the coast of North Africa, in the midst of shooting with director Ron Howard, when local authorities ordered the production to evacuate the area. Howard tweeted about the incident, posting photos of rushing water, mud, and falling rocks.

Paul McGann has said that he is open to returning to Doctor Who again at some point in the future.
McGann reprised his role as The Eighth Doctor in the mini-episode 'The Night of The Doctor', which saw his character regenerate into John Hurt's 'War Doctor'.
The actor has since told Doctor Who Online that he would consider coming back to the role in some capacity.
"Well, it's like with the mini-episode - if they send you the script and it's good, you'll do it," McGann said.
"So, you know, these things are only as good as the material. So the real question is if the material was good enough and if you were available, you'd do it - cos it's a Who!"
McGann went on to describe the lengths that he went to in order to...

All's well that ends well. Orlando Bloom opens up about his amicable separation from Miranda Kerr in an interview with Katie Couric set to air Friday. "We love each other. We're a family. We're going to be in each other's lives for the rest of our lives. There's no question that for the sake of our son and everything else, we're going to support one another and love each other as parents to Flynn," The Hobbit actor says. Now that the Booth-Brennan relationship has been reestablished in "Bones" Season 9, it's time to move on to the Pelant fallout as it affects the rest of the Jeffersonian/FBI crew. Dr. Lance Sweets (John Francis Daley) feels that pain in "El Carnicero en el Coche."
Extra crispy car bits
But before we can get to the inner turmoil and early-life crisis of Sweets, there's a case. This one begins with a car that has been burned to a crisp. The car is so crispy, in fact, that just touching the frame causes large pieces to fall off in rather amusing ways.
There also happens to be a very dead body and a meat cleaver in that car.
Through the magic of the Jeffersonian, however, the team gets the extra-crispy vehicle back to the lab. Hodgins uses a combination of normal science and a Peter Pan-like harness to dig out many...

We've all heard of the 1955 film, "Rebel Without A Cause," starring Marlon Brando, Natalie Wood, and Sal Mineo — wait… what?!?
Juuuust kidding, of course. We would never discredit James Dean's iconic performance in the classic film, which has continued to be both culturally and historically significant well into the twenty-first century. However, "Rebel Without A Cause" didn't always have its leading man.
While it's hard to imagine anyone but Dean in the role, another '50s heartthrob was also vying for the part. In this rare video, unearthed by our pals at IndieWire, we get a chance to see a then-very-young legendary actor Marlon Brando screen-testing for the Warner Bros. flick back when he was just twenty-three years old.
Apparently, the studio had been trying to produce a film adaptation of Robert M. Linder's book since the late '40s, but things never panned out. Brando's screen test was...

What would Nancy Drew think?
Emma Roberts (who brought the character to life in the 2007 film) was arrested on July 7 in Montreal for a domestic violence incident involving her boyfriend Evan Peters ("American Horror Story"), TMZ reports.
Roberts, whose dad Eric Roberts was arrested in 1995 for shoving his wife into a wall, was taken into custody after someone called police to report a fight in the room she was sharing with Peters, wherein they found the actor with a bloody nose. Law enforcement sources tell the website that Peters also had a bite mark.
The actress was released hours after her arrest after Peters chose not to press charges. Sources close to Roberts tell TMZ that the two were, in fact, hitting one another and she was arrested only because he had the obvious physical injuries. This set of sources deny that she ever bit Peters.

Absence, or in this case distance, clearly makes the heart grow fonder. Ireland Baldwin, who resides in Los Angeles, spent some quality time with Maui-based boyfriend Slater Trout over the weekend. And the two made sure to take advantage of the sand and surf as they hit the beach. Of course, cozying up in the water can sometimes be unpredictable, as Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger's daughter learned when her bikini top slipped off ever so slightly. Fortunately, Ireland was successfully able to quickly cover up again. All's well that ends well.

All's well that ends well. At least that's the sense one gets upon hearing Demi Lovato talk about her ex, Joe Jonas. While the "Heart Attack" singer admits during an interview with ABC's Nightline that she was "really mad at him" following their split in 2010, the two are apparently now good friends. "I can fortunately say that him, and his brother Nick, have always been there for me and are literally family, and like brothers...we have a great friendship. And we may not be as close as we used to be, but that's Ok," Lovato says. And Jonas certainly proved he and Lovato are indeed still pals when he tweeted the following on May 14. "Congrats...

All's well that ends well. Whatever tension there once was between Les Miserables costars Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried is water under the bridge now, as evidenced by their happy reunion at an after-party for the annual Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday, May 6. All's well that ends well, right? Maybe ... unless it's happening on Fridays.
When ABC announced that "Happy Endings" would officially be moving to Fridays in late March, the cast wasn't thrilled -- and they finally opened up about it (above).
While the gang joked that "Happy Endings" could be the new Tgif, they also encouraged loyal viewers to tune in.
"Instead of going out and wasting your money at a bar or a club, that you can stay home and watch 'Happy Endings' for free," Zachary Knighton (Dave) said, while Casey Wilson (Penny) added, "Watch us Friday so that we stay on the air ... but if you're watching in any capacity, God bless you."
Frustration with ABC isn't a new gripe for the "Happy Endings" cast. In February, Eliza Coupe (Jane) opened up about it to ETOnline.

Killing Them Softly (18)
(Andrew Dominik, 2012, Us) Brad Pitt, Ray Liotta, James Gandolfini. 97 mins
With a cast like that, no prizes for guessing this is a gangster movie. But despite the well-trodden ground, it finds its own patch thanks to an up-to-date landscape of economic hardship and all-round criminal incompetence. Thus, Pitt's suave assassin breezes into town to clean up a mess, but only gets caught in a bigger one. It's tough, violent stuff, but with a certain sleazy finesse.
Savages (15)
(Oliver Stone, 2012, Us) Taylor Kitsch, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Blake Lively. 130 mins
Stone gives up the politics and returns to crime, with a violent thriller involving two pot-growing California dudes and their run-in with a Mexican drug cartel.
Hysteria (15)
(Tanya Wexler, 2011, UK/Fra/Ger/Lux) Hugh Dancy, Maggie Gyllenhaal, 99 mins
The invention of the vibrator and the phenomenon of women's "hysteria" are viewed with jaunty decorum but some political savvy in this Victorian romcom.
