Bianca Del Rio, winner of “Drag Race” Season 6 and host of “The Pit Stop,” will lead Hulu’s new “Pride Never Stops” pass the mic campaign.
The streaming platform is livestreaming five major pride marches throughout the month, including three nationwide on June 25, as part of its Pride Month coverage.
“You can tune in and see livestreams of some of the nation’s largest Pride marches,” Del Rio says. “We’re getting it out there. If they’re trying to stop us in certain areas, at least we’ll be able to watch it from our homes and show our pride.”
Among the cities covered will be New York, Chicago and San Francisco.
The initiative will include influencers across the country who will serve as digital correspondents for their cities. Their videos will be woven in throughout the “Pride Across America” livestream to paint a fuller picture of Pride celebrations.

The members of Gang of Four would likely be the first to tell you that you do not need an extravagant Gang of Four box set. They’re the ones who released a 45 sarcastically titled “To Hell With Poverty” and backed it up with “Capital (It Fails Us Now),” a lampoon about a newborn baby reaching for its credit card. They skewered advertising culture on “I Found That Essence Rare” and quipped, “The problem of leisure, what to do for pleasure, ideal love a new purchase” on “Natural’s Not in It.

Kesha gave a glammed-out performance of T. Rex’s “Children of the Revolution” on The Tonight Show Tuesday night.
Decked out in a long sequined veil, gladiator skirt and silver body paint, Kesha put her own spin on Marc Bolan’s theatrical stage presence with the vocals to match. “Well, you can tear a plane in the falling rain/I drive a Rolls Royce ’cause it’s good for my voice/But you won’t fool the children of the revolution,” the singer belted.

In 1980 Ronald Reagan became president, the Iran-Iraq War broke out and John Lennon was assassinated. That March, Mount St. Helens erupted, killing 57 people and thousands of animals, causing over $1 billion in cumulative damage. In film it was the year of “Raging Bull” and “Ordinary People” and “The Empire Strikes Back,” movies that remain a crucial component of the American cinematic canon. Alan Parker’s “Fame” came out in 1980 and Irene Cara became a star. “Evita” won best musical at the Tonys. Also in 1980, Richard Pryor lit himself on fire while freebasing cocaine and downing 151-proof rum, racing frantically down the street of his Northridge neighborhood engulfed in flames. On the music front, Elo’s “All Over the World” and “All out of Love” by Air Supply climbed to the top of the pop charts. The music variety show “Solid Gold” premiered and “Taxi” won best comedy series at the Emmys.

The panel of judges finally got one right after guessing that iconic R&b Hall of Fame singer Dionne Warwick was hiding underneath the Mouse costume on Wednesday night’s episode of “The Masked Singer.” “It was my pleasure baby,” Warwick replied when panelist Nicole Scherzinger mentioned it was an honor to have her on the show. “I just want to say this to all of you too,” Warwick continued in her post-show interview. “I had the best time. It was a ball!” Watch her performance of “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)” by Natalie Cole above.
For their final guesses, Scherzinger, Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy and guest panelist Gabriel Iglesias all pinned Warwick as the Mouse. Ken Jeong was the only judge who refused to listen to reason and maintained that Mouse had to be another singing legend, Tina Turner.

Under this one, highly, highly specific circumstance, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg’s logic isn’t bad.
Fact Number 1: The Masked Singer‘s first two seasons featured one legendary vocalist apiece — Gladys Knight as Season 1’s Bee, and Patti Labelle as Season 2’s Flower. Fact Number 2: Season 3 already has unmasked Miss Monster, who was revealed to be R&b diva Chaka Khan. So when Wahlberg noted Wednesday that it wouldn’t make sense for the Fox reality show to give us an additional take-you-to-church vocalist this season, she’s right.

The five remaining contestants in Group B took to the stage again on episode 5 of season 3 of “The Masked Singer,” which aired Wednesday (February 26) on Fox. Last week saw the first (and last) appearance of the sixth contender from this group: the Elephant lost the studio audience vote and was revealed to be skateboarding legend Tony Hawk.
His one-time competitors are disguised as the Banana, Frog, Kitty, Mouse and Taco. We rewatched all of their performances from last week as well as their clues videos. While we were off the mark about the Elephant (we thought it was rapper Will.i.am) we are convinced we are on the right track when it comes to revealing the real names of the rest of Group B. Longtime Grammy telecast producer Ken Ehrlich has delivered his Grammy swan song (figuratively and literally), and it couldn’t have happened without … Walt Whitman. To usher out his 40-year era as the guiding light behind some of TV’s greatest musical moments, Ehrlich chose the song “I Sing the Body Electric” from the 1980 movie musical “Fame” and assembled quite the formidable choir to perform it at the January 26 ceremony: Camila Cabello, Cyndi Lauper, Ben Platt, Common and War and Treaty’s Michael and Tanya Trotter will tackle vocals, with musical accompaniment provided by Jack Antonoff (guitar), Gary Clark Jr. (electric guitar), Lang Lang (piano) and The Ricky Minor Band. Reimagining the choreography was a “Fame” original: Debbie Allen.
So where exactly did Whitman, one of America’s first superstar poets, a Bob Dylan of his day, fit in? The song, written for the beloved movie musical by Michael Gore (younger...

IFC finds success with Sherman's Showcase, a creative, retro spin on the variety show format.

Television has gotten to a place where programming is so daring and ambitious that it's willing to take risks and meta statements on the medium.
There are a number of high concept series that are currently on TV that wouldn't have even made sense decades ago. IFC has delivered a number of comedies that are all predicated on false realities, like Documentary Now! or The Spoils of Babylon. Now Sherman’s Showcase finds its confidence in the fact that it's supposed to have a storied Soul Train-esque reputation to fall back on while the show has fun with its alternate take on a variety show. At first glance, “Sherman’s Showcase” requires unraveling several meta layers. The new IFC comedy from Diallo Riddle and Bashir Salahuddin (“Late Night with Jimmy Fallon”) is a faux docuseries about a fictional Black variety show (the aforementioned “Sherman’s Showcase”) that spans generations like the ones that inspired it, including “Soul Train” and “Solid Gold.” That might not seem like quite enough to sustain eight episodes, but the show works to find new ways to expand on its format. Different hosts cycle in and out every episode, ranging from John Legend and choreographer Nigel Lythgoe playing themselves to characters of the show’s creation taking a trip down memory lane. It even has commercial sketch breaks for parody products and bizarro movie trailers, though those tend to be more hit and miss than the weird trials and tribulations of the show itself.

In the tradition and style of IFC’s sublime “Documentary Now!” parody series, the bizarre allure of “Sherman’s Showcase” is that it’s a spoof that takes itself seriously. The IFC series from Diallo Riddle and Bashir Salahuddin is sneering in tone, wringing out the absurdities to be found in classic shows like “Soul Train” and “Solid Gold,” even as it goes to great lengths to imitate their style. Satirizing a format the creators clearly love, the series is so obviously a passion project – a fanboy costume party that celebrates a legendary, even if fictional, TV program’s history.
A variety show in the purest sense of the word, “Sherman’s Showcase” is structured as a series of infomercials – running from a few seconds to several minutes in length – for a 23-disc DVD compilation of a 40-year-old music variety show, hosted by Salahuddin’s egotistical and maybe even slightly shady Sherman McDaniel.

Before “Slow Jam the News” featured the likes of Brian Williams, Chris Christie and President Barack Obama, the late-night segment was the brainchild of “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” writers Diallo Riddle and Bashir Salahuddin. The pair were responsible for many of the show’s early viral segments, spinning their sketch-comedy background and love of music into widely-shared segments like “Ladysmith Snack Mambazo” and “History of Rap” featuring Justin Timberlake.
But during four years of writing near-daily content for “Fallon,” Riddle and Salahuddin produced lots of song and sketch ideas that never made it to air — or even to rehearsal. “We wrote a lot of songs for Jimmy that wouldn’t have been appropriate for his brand or for NBC, so we tucked a lot of them away,” said Riddle.

Created by and starring comedy duo Diallo Riddle and Bashir Salahuddin, IFC’s new sketch show “Sherman’s Showcase” travels through time via music and clips drawn from the 40-year library of a fictional legendary musical variety show. Unlike “South Side,” the duo’s more traditional Comedy Central series, “Sherman’s Showcase” is unapologetically delirious, seemingly operating under no specific set of rules, which might leave audiences dazed, for better or worse. And that’s exactly how Riddle and Salahuddin want it.
“As comedy writers, we really desire to be unbound, and because it’s a variety show, it allowed us to open up the format and write about anything that we wanted,” said Salahuddin at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour. “And so the ability for us to do that and also work with talented people who could put their own spin on what we wrote let us...

Like most of his peers in horror’s hallowed halls, Wes Craven contributed his share to the small screen; Summer of Fear (1978), Chiller (1985), and several episodes of The Twilight Zone revival (’85–’86) are indications of an artist who liked to keep busy and sometimes pay some bills. Invitation to Hell (’84) would seem to be a case for the latter, but it has an irresistibly goofy charm that’s impossible to resist.
Originally an ABC broadcast from Thursday, May 24th, Invitation stood no hope in you know where of winning the night; CBS had Magnum, P.I. and Simon & Simon, while the Peacock strutted around with their comedy lineup of Gimme A Break!/Family Ties/Cheers/Night Court. Those were impossible odds, even for the devil himself. Oh well. Throw on your tracksuit, grab your water bottle, because you’ve just received your Invitation to Hell.

“Our Heavenly Father has chosen one of our most prolific voices to join His Heavenly Choir,” Warwick wrote in a statement. “Aretha now rests in peace!”

Baywatch star David Hasselhoff stars alongside the Guardians of the Galaxy cast in the gloriously retro video for "Guardians' Inferno." The music video appears on the upcoming home release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, out August 8th.
Modeled after music TV shows of the late Seventies and early Eighties like Solid Gold – right down to the cheesy video effects – "Guardians' Inferno" finds Hasselhoff – who had a minuscule but important role in the film – singing along to the closing credits song from the Marvel blockbuster.

Mark Isaiah showed up at The Voice’s Top 11 results show with a big ol’ target on his back. Not only had he been in the bottom two the previous week, but according to our poll then (and our newer one last night), you enjoy his singing about as much as you would mine — in other words, not at all. But was Tuesday night his final performance?

Finally, something to brighten up our January! Celebrity Big Brother is back tonight, and we can't wait to see who's about to go into the house. Host Emma Willis has promised a stellar lineup, so we're expecting big things.
We're just getting our popcorn ready, but join us from 9pm when the show starts on Channel 5 for all the action from the glamorous Borehamwood bungalow...
23:05Right, that really is it from us - thanks for joining us!

In Cameron Diaz, “Saturday Night Live” has its second consecutive host making an appearance after a lengthy absence. Although Diaz has hosted the show three times before, this is her first time doing so since 2005. Will there be “Annie” sketches? Probably! Will there be a Jamie Foxx and/or Quvenzhané Wallis cameo? Possibly! Will Bruno Mars make an in-sketch appearance in addition to his musical role tonight? Likely! Will this be an exciting episode or one that puts audiences to sleep faster than Thanksgiving dinner? Who knows! As always, I’ll be liveblogging the show in real time, assigning grades to each segment. As always, I’ll remind you that comedy is subjective and the grades don’t have any more power than you allow them to have. As always, a few of you will ignore that last statement and quibble over a “B-“ versus a “B”. It’s cool.

No doubt the news that NBC is hiring Neil Patrick Harris to host a variety show was greeted by everyone under 35 with the response, "What's a variety show?"
Long ago, when there were only three channels and programmers crafted series that were meant to have universal appeal, the variety show was a TV staple. Shows blending music, comedy, dance, drama, juggling, puppetry, ventriloquism, and anything else you could think of were the networks' way of providing something for everyone. If you didn't like an act, wait five minutes, and something more to your taste would come along.
What's more, you didn't have to have any particular talent to host a variety show. Sure, a lot of hosts of 1970s variety shows were musicians -- Dean Martin, Johnny Cash, Glen Campbell, Sonny and Cher, Tony Orlando and Dawn, Donny and Marie Osmond. Some of them could even tell jokes. And then there was Ed Sullivan,...

Frank Browning Banner So You Think You Can Dance 2: Electric Boogaloo! Brobocop here, Back Online. Back On Duty. I had a lot of fun slapping together the first entry of So You Think You Can Dance, so I beefed things up a bit this time around. I also took note of some suggestions in the comments section here and on Facebook. So hopefully there’s a little bit for everybody! With that being said, let’s all get on our dancing shoes and get to it, shall we!?

In this YouTube age, a time when I can find any episode of Peyton Place or Herman's Head with a few simple clicks, it's hard to tell what kinds of old TV shows I genuinely miss and which I just like to revisit for kitsch value. Every year I feel like I'm slipping away from regular TV viewing and losing myself more and more in ancient YouTube footage, which is both edifying and horrifying. I think it's time that TV programmers start minding my departure and adjust TV schedules to accommodate more of the stuff I miss.
Thus, I'm counting down five old -- and perhaps outdated -- genres of television series that I still miss. I'd personally love if some wild TVLand exec could exhume them promptly. Let's begin.

It's hard to believe that nearly half the year is already over. With April having come and gone, we've already endured our first big fest of the season - Coachella, of course - and thankfully this year's Grammys helped make the beloved Bon Iver a household name. Best of all, Adele is on track to receive the first diamond record (10x platinum) since Usher's '04 effort Confessions.
So, basically it's safe to say that 2012 is already a hell of a year in music, and we've spotted some amazing new acts on the rise this year that are sure to only make it better. You may already recognize some of the names (who hasn't heard of Kimbra at this point?), but we hope you get well acquainted with all of them.
Here are six of our favorite acts on the rise. Who are some of yours?

Beastie Boys' album sales have skyrocketed in the wake of Adam "McA" Yauch's passing. The group has seven albums on the Billboard Hot 200, according to industry rankings website.
Licensed to Ill was the first rap album to top the Billboard charts, and it's back in the top 20 at No. 18. The 1986 debut LP for Adam "McA" Yauch, Adam "Ad-Rock" Horowitz and Michael "Mike D" Diamond moved 18,000 copies this past week.
Other Boys albums on the charts this week: Solid Gold Hits at No. 51, Paul's Boutique at No. 56, Hot Sauce Committee Part Two at No. 107, Ill Communication at No. 109, Check Your Head at No. 124 and Beastie Boys Anthology: The Sounds of Science No. 141.
Altogether, 55,000 Beastie Boy albums were sold over the week -- a 1,235% increase over the previous week's 4,000 units.
The band was unfortunately hit with a copyright infringement lawsuit a day before Yauch's passed away on May 4. If successful, the...

Carrie Underwood is on a roll. The former "American Idol" champ will land her third #1 debut in a row next week when Blown Away easily tops the Billboard 200 tally. Underwood sold 267,000 copies of her fourth effort, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan, which was more than enough to hold off Norah Jones , whose Danger Mouse-produced Little Broken Hearts will come in at #2 on sales of 110,000.
There were plenty of other new faces in the top 10, including Now 42 (#3, 95,000), "So Good" rapper B.o.B's Strange Clouds (#5, 76,000), the cast album for the NBC show "Smash" (#9, 39,000) and veteran shock rocker Marilyn Manson's Born Villain (#10, 38,000).
The rest of the top 10: Adele, 21 (#4, 77,000), Lionel Richie, Tuskegee (#6, 64,000), Jack White, Blunderbuss (#7, 56,000) and One Direction, Up All Night (#8, 45,000). Though the movie smashed just...

Teams Adam and Cee Lo hit the stage to sing for America's votes.

Last week on "The Voice," Teams Blake and Christina hit the live stage and saw their numbers dwindle by two contestants each after all was said and done. On Monday night (April 9), it was Team Cee Lo and Team Adam's turn to sing for their survival in the competition and secure a spot in the quarterfinals.
Levine and Green, out of his Elvis clown costume from last week but sporting the bright red he's been rocking all season, seemed in good spirits at the top of the show, even joking with Blake about how underdressed he was.
Remember: The top three vote-getters from each team will move on automatically, while the bottom three will perform for their respective coach (and America, duh!) Tuesday night, hoping to...

1. Summerwind Skippers
This is a neat act, but it doesn't scream Vegas show to me. Their first live show is much better than what they've done before, but it's still just a jump-rope act. It's a very good jump-rope act, but ... still. I do think these guys beat the hell out of every dance group on the show except maybe Miami All-Stars. They still might deserve to advance, though, based on how the other acts do. The judges are complimentary.

There’s no number to text your vote for Coke and Ford, but the brands have fused themselves to Fox’s pop star machine. Here’s how.
Tuesday night, on part one of the season finale of American Idol, Taio Cruz performed "Positive," a song co-written by fans online and co-produced by Coca-Cola. It’s part of Coke’s Perfect Harmony campaign, and the soda maker’s in the middle of its 125th anniversary. Wednesday night, Ford will present each of the final two contestants, Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery, with a Ford Focus for their favorite teacher--part of the automaker’s Drive One 4 Ur School program.
Somehow, none of it feels especially icky. To steal another product’s tagline for Ford, Coke, and American Idol: You’ve come a long way, baby.

It's a Walker family Christmas. Pray for Santa. Join us at 10 Pm Est for the eggnog, mistletoe, and recriminations.
We start with Nora, who's running around the kitchen in a Nora-Panic™. She's trying to wrap packages and bake Kevin's favorite cookies, pfeffernusse. I have two words of advice for Nora - Pepperidge Farm! Oh, and maybe fix the level on her hormone replacement patch.
After Nora goes on about finding just the right wine for Kitty's first Christmas without Dead Robert, Hawk says "you forgot to worry about Justin." Nora responds "no I didn't. I'm making him a huge batch of inedible, burnt gingerbread men."
Nora throws her mits down and exclaims "why am I even doing this? Why am I even bothering with this huge over-the-top extravaganza when I know they all hate it? I know they're all dreading it. They're probably making fun of me right now!" Well Finally!

Subject: Paul Stephen Rudd, 41-year old American actor/screenwriter
Date of Assessment: July 30, 2010
Positive Buzzwords: Apatow, teflon, sarcasm, wit
Negative Buzzwords: Apatow, stuck in a rut
The Case: Mixed feelings run amuck with this week's subject. Exactly how does one criticize a comedic actor who has risen the top of his game yet still simultaneously (not to mention arguably) disappoints? With a resumé that runs far and wide, there's just no practical method to discuss every detail of Paul Rudd's career, but it would be an understatement to declare that he's doing quite well. After all, Vanity Fair saw fit to feature Rudd as one of Comedy's New Legends. Not only that, but Rudd seems unflappable even after some box-office flops and also appears to have discovered the fabled Fountain of Youth. Whatever his secret is, he could bottle that shit and sell it to every comedic actor who moves to Hollywood.

Hamsterdam, MD - News at 4:20. As part of the celebration for the upcoming season of Weeds, Glick University polled over 4,000 Americans about what TV News personalities they wanted to see get high during a broadcast.
Naturally there were ground rules including the disqualifications of news organizations that contain notorious on air potheads. This meant no votes were collected for the cast of The Daily Show, Colbert Report and Fox and Friends. You think Steve Doocey is sober? Hard to think that any of those folks have eyes that aren’t pied 24-7.
10, Bill O’Reilly (Fox News) had a lot of folks who reacted that it’d be like, “Dude, I’m getting high with dad.” Of course this initial elation is cut down with the horrifying fact of “Dude, I’m getting high with dad and it’s just not someone I need to party with.”
