Nelly Furtado knows that that Justin Timberlake and Timbaland reunion was “a little overdue,” but is super excited about it finally happening.
The Canadian singer chatted to Et Canada’s Carlos Bustamante at the Artists for Peace and Justice Gala at TIFF honouring her (Artist for Peace and Justice Award) and Director X (Canadian Changemaker Award).
Furtado, Jt and Timbaland — who last released “Give It to Me” in 2007 — dropped their first new track in 16 years, “Keep Going Up”, earlier this month.

Furtado told us of the reunion, “Timbaland and I, we roughly stayed in touch for the last decade but then we had this really pivotal, life-changing FaceTime phone call where we thanked each other for each others’ contribution to each others’ work.
“And we decided right there on that FaceTime call that we should get back in the studio,...

The last few years have seen the film industry change pretty significantly, specifically in the realm of what projects get the green light at a major studio. With streaming content becoming more and more prominent in the public’s mind and box office leaning heavily towards franchises and established IP, we’re seeing a distinct lack of original ideas and adult-themed films. And for director Francis Lawrence, he believes that’s a factor that played out over the course of production and release of his 2018 spy drama “Red Sparrow.”
Speaking to /Film, Lawrence talked about why he feels that “Red Sparrow” might not have been a huge hit for him, as well as why he thinks films like the Jennifer Lawrence-starrer just don’t get made anymore.

Seminal horror films sure do cast an imposing shadow, especially for others that try to bear similar fruit in its shade; usually what grows is withered and nothing more than a mere husk of what came before. And some films simply don’t give a horse’s patootie. Welcome to Jennifer (1978), the ultimate Mad Libs homage to Carrie (’76) that, while not in the same league, works as a fun (and somewhat observant) high school horror - with snakes. A whole lot of ‘em.
Released by Aip in May, Jennifer opened to mixed reviews at best and indifference from audiences who felt they’d already been there, DePalma’d that. They weren’t wrong of course; Jennifer gulps thirstily from Carrie’s water fountain, but adds a couple other prevalent genre staples of the ‘70s to arrive at something decidedly weird (and vicious) enough to set itself apart.
