TV Guide Magazine profiled Wheel’s graceful letter-turning icon Vanna White in the March 4, 1989, issue. At the time, the 32-year-old former model was pulling double duty working on both the daytime version (with host Rolf Benirschke) and nighttime iteration (with Pat Sajak) of the game show, starting her business empire — and charming everyone along the way. It’s leather week on Wheel of Fortune. At least that’s the way it seems. In the three shows just finished taping, every skintight outfit Vanna White wore was leather. “I’ll be out in just a minute.” It’s White talking as she disappears into her dressing room to squeeze out of a leather dress for supper. A minute, two minutes pass, then a startling, “Ok, you ready?” and there she is — cheerleader extraordinaire, adolescent fantasy in the flesh — dressed for dinner in a blue terry-cloth bathrobe. Sitting at one of the...

Following a devastating Bonus Round loss, Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak struggled for words to comfort one contestant who lost out on $100,000 on Wednesday night (May 29). The contestant in question was Larry Brown Jr. from Bowie, Maryland, returning for a second shot as part of Fan Favorites Week. Brown first appeared on the show on April 9, 2024, where he made the Triple Tossup solve of “Chocolate Lover,” which he revealed has since become his nickname. Brown faced off against fellow fan faves Lee Mack Turner from Yoakum, Texas, who first appeared on the November 8, 2023 episode, and Laryn Nelson from Atlanta, Georgia, who first appeared on the September 13, 2023 episode. From the start, Brown dominated, amassing $26,699 cash and a trip to Hawaii by the end of the Mystery Round. His success continued across the Express Round and Triple Tossup, ultimately giving him an episode-winning total of $34,099 cash. Entering the Bonus Round, Brown...

A trio of Wheel of Fortune contestants embarrassed themselves on live television when they celebrated prematurely.
Following a recent episode of Wheel of Fortune in which a contestant gave host Pat Sajak a tasteless Nsfw answer on live TV, viewers were treated to another controversial moment.
Pat Sajak had to intervene during a recent episode of Wheel of Fortune when a contestant began celebrating what they believed to be a correct puzzle solution.
During Monday night’s show, three contestants Rufus Cumberlander, Luidgi Altidor, and Cynthia King kicked off their game with a toss-up puzzle.
The category was “Phrase,” and as more and more letters began to appear on the board, Rufus was confident that he had the correct answer to the puzzle, which read, “_ _ N ‘_ / L _ O K / A W _ _ .”
Rufus rang his buzzer, and when Pat called on him to give his answer, Rufus exclaimed, “Don’t Look Away!

Recently, Wheel Of Fortune fans were bashing the show for giving contestants undeserving second chances. While Pat Sajak is heading toward retirement rapidly, fans are certainly noticing some “unfair” aspects of the show. Admittedly, now that the retirement is imminent, fans are wishing for more time with the beloved host.
Wheel Of Fortune Prepares For Pat Sajak’s Departure

Pat Sajak is nearing the end of his run as the Wheel of Fortune host. However, he has just over a week left to have some more memorable moments in the series. One of those happened this week when a contestant proudly answered the puzzle and started fist-bumping the other players in celebration.
The problem is that his answer was wrong, and Pat had to call him out on it.
Pat Sajak Stops Celebration After Wrong Answer
In the recent episode of Wheel of Fortune, the players had letters on the board and had to guess what the term was. Every letter was there except for three (one in each word). The three looked at the board and then one player buzzed in and gave his answer.
The player then didn’t wait for the confirmation and began to celebrate his answer. More so, the other contestants also celebrated with him.

Wheel of Fortune is taking a page from its quiz show cousin Jeopardy! in inviting back former players for another chance to spin the wheel, but not everybody is happy about it. Many fans think it’s unfair that the show is allowing people to compete twice when hopeful viewers often take many years to appear on ‘Wheel’ and a large number never achieve their dream. On Monday, May 27, the long-running game show kicked off its Fan Favorite week, which sees past contestants return for a shot at redemption or, in some cases, for repeated glory. The latter was certainly the case for Cynthia King from Warren, Michigan, who won more than $83,000 during her first appearance back in February when she nailed the Bonus Round puzzle. As she explained to host Pat Sajak at the start of Monday’s episode, she hosted 75 friends and family for a watch party of...

Pat Sajak is just days away from retirement, but that doesn’t mean Wheel of Fortune contestants are going easy on him, as the host found out the hard way on Friday’s (May 24) episode. During Friday’s game, Michael Bystrzycki, a master electrician from Drummonds, Tennessee, faced off against Sarah McCabe, a former English teacher from Mankato, Minnesota, and Lillian Devane, a self-described “word nerd” from Atlantic City, New Jersey. The funny moment came during a Crossword puzzle in the $2K Toss-Up round, where the players had to figure out the four interconnected words, all of which had “fire” as the first part. Bystrzycki had control of the wheel and looked like he was about to attempt to solve the puzzle before suddenly backtracking and choosing to spin again. Unfortunately, he landed on the Bankrupt wedge and lost everything. Thankfully, the round continued, and Bystrzycki got another turn. This time,...

Vanna White admits she thought about retirement herself after her decades-long co-star Pat Sajak, in 2023, announced his plans to step back in 2024.

White will be around for at least the next two years after signing a new deal. After lengthy negotiations, in September 2023, White extended her contract for an additional two years to continue on the hit syndicated game show through the 2025-26 season. She will be working alongside Wheel‘s new host, Ryan Seacrest, who will take over for Sajak next fall. Wheel of Fortune has been renewed through Season 45.

Wheel of Fortune always acknowledges its big wins… usually with lots and lots of confetti. But for his final hour, Pat Sajak, the dependable captain of the celebrated game show, requested the chance to, more or less, sail quietly off into the sunset. The host’s final installment was filmed on the first Friday in April, and it’s scheduled to air two months later, on Friday, June 7. Executive producer Bellamie Blackstone revealed to us that viewers would hear a few words of farewell from Sajak, as well as Vanna White’s thoughts on losing her longtime colleague. But Sajak wished to keep his last episode focused on the game and, most importantly, its players, whom he has always kept at ease. “I think it’s my most important role on the show,” Sajak told his daughter Maggie Sajak in an exclusive interview during his final tapings. The alphabet hasn’t been the same since Vanna White started flipping letters to reveal puzzle answers on Wheel of Fortune in 1982. A contestant kicked off a recent episode of Wheel of Fortune with a bang, so to speak, with a shocking yet humorous response.
Tavaris Williams rose to instant fame when he went head-to-head with his competitors for a $1,000 toss-up round.
The Port St. Lucie, Florida resident had his buzzer in hand, ready to solve the puzzle in the “Phrase” category as veteran tile-turner Vanna White, 67, began revealing letters on the board.
When the puzzle revealed, “_ _ _ _ / I _ / T _ E / B _ _ T!” Tavaris was certain he had the correct solution and tapped his buzzer.
When host Pat Sajak, 77, called on Tavaris to answer, his response sent the studio audience and his challengers into a tizzy and stunned the longtime Wheel of Fortune host.
“Right in the butt?” Tavaris responded, somewhat questioning his response.

Pat Sajak is only a few weeks away from retirement and is showing his softer side as of late, like on Tuesday’s (May 21) Wheel of Fortune, where he sympathized with a contestant after a baffling puzzle blunder. The contestant in question was Brittany Collins, a children’s hospital facilitator and Bingo player from Louisville, Kentucky, who faced off against Susan Meissner from Charleston, South Carolina, and Blake Swoboda from Houston, Texas. Collins looked primed for a successful night when she nailed the $1,000 and $2,000 Tossup puzzles under the “Things” and “Food and Drink” categories. However, she hit a brick wall when she faced what appeared to be an obvious “Phrase” puzzle. An unlucky Wheel of Fortune contestant cost themselves a trip to Mexico after missing one tiny two-letter word from their spoken answer. Now many fans are saying that the ruling was “too tough” and “unfair.” Last Thursday’s (May 16) episode saw a face-off between Kerry Ruiz, a wellness studio co-owner from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Amanda Morris, a billiards player from Wilmington, North Carolina, and Dee Merritt, a Navy sexual assault response coordinator from Portsmouth, Virginia. During the Express Round, the three contestants were faced with a six-word “Phrase” puzzle that read, “_ N O _ _ / I T / O _ T / O F / T H E / _ _ _ _.” Merritt was first to take a guess at solving the puzzle, answering, “Knock it out the park.” At first glance her answer seemed completely correct to many viewers. But it wasn’t precise enough. “I’m sorry,” host Pat Sajak responded as the buzzer sounded to indicate Merritt was incorrect.

Wheel Of Fortune Fans Not Ready To Lose Pat Sajak
For some time now, Wheel of Fortune fans have felt that Pat Sajak needed to step down from the popular game show. He seemed cranky and angrier, less tolerant of the contestants. In June 2023, he announced he was leaving after Season 41. It took some time but Ryan Seacrest was named his replacement with Vanna White staying on through 2026. Pat filmed his final episode on April 5th, 2024 and it will air on June 7th with Ryan taking over in September 2024. Of course,...

Wheel of Fortune fans are up in arms over one of the game show’s rules, and they’re calling on producers to implement some major changes.
The popular weeknight game show has operated with the same rules for almost 50 years.
One rule, in particular, though, has Wheel watchers griping online because they feel it gives contestants an unfair advantage.
If a contestant wins a trip during their appearance, the value of the trip is credited to their overall winnings as a cash dollar amount.
This means the player not only walks away with an all-expenses-paid trip but is also awarded the dollar amount—something that doesn’t sit well with Wheel of Fortune viewers.
A critic who considers this rule to be unfair gameplay took to Reddit recently to voice their opinions in a post titled, “I wish the money won for trips weren’t added with their cash wins.

A recent episode of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune saw Krysten Ritter fail to solve a puzzle even though only two letters were needed to complete the board. When she lost out on the chance, she admitted that she had no idea who Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce — the answer on the board — were. Even more shocking, none of the contestants knew who the brothers were.
Here is what went down and how fans reacted to the moment.
Krysten Ritter Has No Idea Who Travis Kelce Is
Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter competed on Celebrity Wheel of Fortune this week and failed to win one round, even though every letter was in place other than two. The board read “Travis & Jason *el*e.” Ritter stared at the board and had no idea what the answer was. Pat Sajak told her to go ahead and spin if she was still stuck.

At the start of Cryptmaster, you’ll preside over four former heroes—now zombies—who are prodded along by their eponymous resurrector. Of course, having rotted for so long, they’ve lost all their abilities and memories, and this first-person dungeon crawler’s entire conceit is wrapped around you needing to help them literally fill the blanks in their memories by typing out the unfinished words that hover beside their avatars. Each time you kill an enemy or solve a riddle, you’ll pick up one or more letters as loot, revealing them in your currently equipped words like a game of Hangman. It’s a novel way to nod to text-based adventures of old, but after a few hours into this 10-ish-hour adventure, it grows T_R_SOM_.

Wednesday night’s new episode of Wheel of Fortune has got fans talking — for all the wrong reasons. The newest Grand Giveaways night saw three pairings of young people and their grandparents: Rex and Katherine Wang; Sam Johnson and Linda Vian; and Jovanni White and Joan Bradshaw. Katherine claimed to have been a Wheel watcher since the ’70s, but some fans weren’t convinced that any of the contestants of the night were truly up on the rules of the game. It all started when Sam & Linda couldn’t quite decide if they wanted to solve or request more letters during the first puzzle. Then, Rex and Katherine started spouting off vowel requests without the magic phrase — “I’d like to buy a vowel” — in the second puzzle. (They’d later go on to buy all of the vowels for some reason.) Then, Jiovanni and Joan joined in on the...
