Originally a Midlands-only "links" programme presented by Chris Tarrant and John Asher, Tiswas is chiefly remembered for evolving into a nationally broadcast comedy show with Chris joined by Sally James, Bob Carolgees and Lenny Henry.
A Saturday morning kids program, whose title was variously an acronym for "This Is Saturday, What A Show!", "Today Is Saturday, Wear A (or Wake-up And) Smile!", and "This Is Saturday, Watch And Suffer!". Classic cartoons were interspersed with wild, anarchic skits about Flan, and special appearances by then-hot pop stars.—Mike Konczewski
