As the #SayNoToSpoliers campaign by the team of Abhay Chopra’s upcoming thriller Ittefaq takes over Twitter, the lead actress Sonakshi Sinha reveals that they have taken more measures to ensure that the climax remains a mystery.
In a promotional video, Interrogation with Karan Johar (a spin on Koffee with Karan), the host and co-producer of the film, Karan Johar asks the three principal cast members — Sonakshi, Akshaye Khanna and Sidharth Malhotra — if they revealed the climax of the suspense thriller to their close ones.
Sonakshi points out that they took additional measures to protect the suspense attached with the film. “We shot alternate endings. A cameraman, a lights guy or any crewmember would not know the script. So it was important that we shoot alternate endings so that they do not leak what the actual climax is,” says Sonakshi.
Ittefaq is the remake of late filmmaker Yash Chopra’s 1969 classic of the same name.

After action and romance, Sidharth Malhotra is all set to turn intense for debut director Abhay Chopra’s Ittefaq, which is an adaptation of Yash Chopra’s 1969 film of the same name.
Sidharth Malhotra plays an intense role of an author in the whodunit, which also stars Sonakshi Sinha and Akshaye Khanna. Previously, Sidharth has delivered impressive performances, as recently seen in films like A Gentleman.
Interestingly, the makers have decided to pump in digital content while keeping the actors away from the media, to ensure that the air of suspense and mystery stays intact till the film’s release.
“The movie has been produced at a very reasonable cost, which has been recovered via the Ott platforms, music and satellite deals that our company enjoys with its partners. Its global release will be aggressive yet controlled to ensure that it reaches everyone without overloading cinemas,” says Gaurav Verma, Chief...

The highly anticipated Ittefaq starring Akshaye Khanna, Sonakshi Sinha and Siddarth Malhotra in the lead roles, has received rave reviews for its trailer. This is a remake of the original Ittefaq which starred Rajesh Khanna. Interstingly it had no songs at all, and so it is surprising to see the new version will have a soundtrack, but we are yet to know if any of the songs will feature in the thriller itself.
Now the first song from the film’s soundtrack has just released, titled Ittefaq Se, it is a recreated track of the popular retro classic Raat Baaki, Baat Baaki from the film Namak Halaal.
The retro classic has been given a fresh new makeover, with only part of the chorus lyrics remaining same as the original song. Recreated by Tanishq Bagchi, the song has been sung by popular singer Jubin Nautiyal, while female vocals have been provided by Nikita Gandhi.

Filmmaker Karan Johar says that his next home production movie Ittefaq will bring back gripping entertainers. Johar recently shared that Ittefaq will bring back the age of edge-of-the-seat entertainers in Bollywood and that the film will hold the audience’s attention until the very end.
“Sidharth’s character (Vikram) seems to be the first suspect, there is Maya (played by Sonakshi)… Her character seems to have layers as she comes with a well-thought story that may or may not have happened. Both of them have different stories to tell, which keeps the guess going.”
“As both Vikram and Maya lose their spouses, this could be just a coincidence or it could be a well-plotted plan by the two of them to get rid of their partners and start a new life,” Karan said.
The makers of the movie unveiled the trailer of Ittefaq last week and features Sonakshi Sinha, Sidharth Malhotra and Akshaye Khanna.

Yash Chopra
(27 September 1932 – 21 October 2012)
There are some who thrive on becoming a part of history. And then there are those who take it upon themselves to change it. Yash Raj Chopra belonged to the latter category. Since his first outing “Dhool ka Phool” in 1959. he churned story after fascinating story – a fertility unparalleled in the history of Hindi Cinema. Without sounding preachy or pretentious, his megaphone blared the saga of our times. At a time when India was coming to terms with the socio-economic realities of freedom, his debut film was soaked in Nehruvian Socialism. And to prove he wasn’t a flash in the pan, the very next film was on religious fundamentalism: Dharmputra (1961). His third film had the most epic ensemble cast ever assembled on Indian screens: Waqt (1965). Without revelling in the success,...

Films that gained a ‘cult following’ over the years, despite being unnoticed on release
Silsila
Yash Chopra is looked upon as the grandfather of candyfloss romance, an antithesis to the more ‘artistic’ genre of films. One wonders why. Here’s what his early films were about:
Unwed mothers and illegitimate children – Dhool ka Phool (1959)
Partition and the rise of Hindu fundamentalism – Dharmputra (1961)
Taut, song less thriller about a fugitive, a lone woman and a corpse – Ittefaq (1969)
A man who lives with his wife and the ‘other woman’, Hindi Cinema’s first Ménage à trois- Daag (1973)
In 1981, we had another of his equally risqué works, Silsila. Expectedly, sparks flew when the Screen God of the time shared screen space with the reigning diva. Rekha and Amitabh were quite an item on screen and allegedly, off screen too. The grapevine has it that Chopra was inspired to make Silsila on this relationship...

Anything for a friend. That's Shahid Kapoor for you. And his friends too believe in standing by the actor, rock-steady. At a time when after the debacle of Teri Meri Kahaani, the super-talented Shahid is looking for new challenges, his best friend and close confidante Mubina Rattonsey has decided to produce Shahid's next film. Mubina, it must be remembered, had co-produced Vishal Bhardwaj's Kaminey which was a turning point in Shahid's career. The same is likely to be true of Kapoor-Rattonsey team's next collaboration. Bejoy Nambiar, the director of the highly-acclaimed Shaitaan is all set to explore the dark side of human nature all over again, this time with Shahid Kapoor as his main protagonist. Though the concerned parties are keeping mum over the nature of the project, the yet-untitled film which starts shooting this December, features Shahid as a con-man who lands up in a mental asylum.

Long before Shah Rukh wiggled his eyebrows and raised his arms for a hug, and well before Salman built that body, there was the inimitable Rajesh Khanna. If the late 70s were Amitabh Bachchan’s one man industry, then the early 70s were Rajesh’s domain. Truly, the era of the first superstars in Hindi cinema has come to an end when Khanna passed away this past Wednesday.
Often called the Prince of Romance, Khanna offered up a gentler and tender side to romance that is sorely missed in today’s era. Born as Jatin Khanna on December 29th 1942, he was a keen lover of films since an early age. His rise to the top also seems like a struggler’s dream, as he was picked from thousands of applicants from the All India Talent Contest. It’s easy to see why. That twinkle in his eye, the tilted head,...

Director Kabir Khan remembers with some sheepishness the enthusiasm with which he showed Yash Chopra the script for his Kabul Express, a spare, taut film set in the badlands of Afghanistan. “There I was,” he says, “discussing the script with Yashji (as everyone calls the veteran), convinced I was making a cutting-edge film because it had no songs and dances. When he casually mentioned that he had made a film too, called Ittefaq, which had no songs — some 30 years ago in 1969.” The next time Khan went to Chopra with a script was for his last movie, New ...
