Back to the Future is often hailed as one of the timeless classics in the realm of the sci-fi genre. It was not the first film that introduced the concept of time travel, and certainly, it won’t be the last with this similar idea. However, what sets this film apart is how much love it has garnered from the fans.
A still from Back to the Future
The film was unique in its very core, as it not only introduced a light and easy-to-understand plot but also intriguing gadgets that viewers desired to have. One of them is Nike Mag, which set the trend with its sleek design and self-lacing technology. The sneaker became a coveted item for sneakerheads, who were drawn by it, however, its price stopped it from being in the collection of the richest collectors and even Conor McGregor and Jake Gyllenhaal were astounded to hear its price.

Electro-pop singer Mndr has released a new song, “Hell to Be You Baby,” the title track from her next album, set to arrive June 18th via Wondersound Records.
Co-produced by Mark Ronson, “Hell to Be You Baby” boasts a distinct early Nineties dance feel. A restless drum groove, gritty synths, and a big house piano anchor the tune, while still allowing it to expand into headier spaces.

Flushed with awards success, Sam Mendes and his partners at Neal Street Productions reveal their latest film, TV and theatre projects
A small Greek island, its wooded hills woven with timeless secrets, would make a welcome contrast to the carnage of first world war trenches. But if 1917 director Sir Sam Mendes now has a holiday isle near Athens in his sights, it is as the location of his next project, and not as a sunny destination before he is feted at Bafta and Oscar ceremonies next month.
Mendes and his partners at Neal Street Productions are to make a major television adaptation of The Magus, the mysterious and much-loved novel by John Fowles. “Like many people, I read and loved it as a teenager,” Mendes said this weekend, as he unveiled his latest plans to the Observer.

Stargirls, the careers of Robert Downey Jr. and Will Smith, flying taxis, and more in today's Link Tank!
There are two upcoming Stargirls in the streaming world at the moment, one from Disney+ and one from DC Universe.
"It’s a tale of two Stargirls in this peek TV world with new streaming titles from both DC Universe and Disney of the same name. It’s confusing, but one you dig in, the two properties could not be more different and only one of them has us actually excited. First we’ll go with the less exciting Stargirl, the one from Disney+. I guess it’s called Stargirl because Manic Pixie Dream Stargirl wouldn’t fit well in a tweet."
Read more at The Mary Sue.
Though similar in age, the careers of Robert Downey Jr. and Will Smith could not be more different.

Close-Up is a column that spotlights films now playing on Mubi. Albert Brooks' Modern Romance (1981) is showing February 17 - March 19, 2017 in the United Kingdom in the series The Rom Com Variations. She’s out of my lifeShe’s out of my lifeAnd I don’t know whether to laugh or cry—Michael Jackson, “She’s Out of My Life”“cras amet qui numquam amavitquique amavit cras amet”—The Magus (John Fowles) Life comes at you fast. As someone recently on the receiving end of an unexpected breakup, I was a little cool on the idea of watching Albert Brooks’ 1981 film Modern Romance—whose premise was summarized, on the one-sheets at the time, in the following terms: “Robert was madly in love with Mary. Mary was madly in love with Robert. Under the circumstances they did the only thing they could do… they broke up.” But then, in that brutal darkness of heartache,...

Stage and screen actor best known for his roles in Only Fools and Horses, The Vicar of Dibley and Harry Potter
The talented and idiosyncratic character actor Roger Lloyd Pack, who has died of pancreatic cancer aged 69, achieved national recognition, and huge popularity, as Colin "Trigger" Ball, the lugubrious Peckham road sweeper in John Sullivan's brilliantly acted comedy series Only Fools and Horses. He appeared alongside David Jason's Del Boy and Nicholas Lyndhurst's "plonker" Rodney from 1981 for 10 years, with many a seasonal "special" for another decade.
This success cemented a career in which, up to that point, he had played important roles at the Royal Shakespeare Company, the National Theatre and the Almeida theatre in north London – he was a notably anguished Rosmer in Ibsen's Rosmersholm at the National in 1987, opposite Suzanne Bertish – without recognition any wider than usually appreciative reviews.

At a young age he performed glove puppet shows, before his Hampshire school Bedales allowed him to take part in small theatre productions.
He began concentrating on acting during his studies, inspired by his drama teacher Rachel Carey-Field. Having achieved three A-levels, he successfully enrolled at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (Rada).
Lloyd-Pack made his stage debut in a Northampton production of The Shoemaker's Holiday by Thomas Dekker. After a number of stage productions across the UK, he made his screen debut in the 1968 film The Magus.

In real life, Reid Scott may be a nice guy, but he's having the time of his life these days playing Dan Egan, a rising Washington hotshot who specializes in bending the rules to fix problems for the U.S. vice president on HBO's new Sunday sitcom "Veep."
"Dan is incredibly fun to play," Scott tells Zap2it, laughing. "He's a Machiavellian, ladder-climbing snake-in-the-grass kind of guy, who may or may not have a heart. We haven't really decided yet. But he has become this sort of outlet where I can exorcise my own demons in being vicious, silver-tongued and mean."
Scott himself didn't need to break any rules when he fell in love with acting while attending prep school in upstate New York. "I happened to have this one incredible teacher who ran a ramshackle drama department, which was kind of the one creative outlet at this Catholic military school,...

"What drove and kept me going over the decades? What was the motive force? If I had to use a single word, it would be curiosity." This quote from the pioneering photojournalist Eve Arnold, who died in January, aged 99, is among the various first-person wall texts that punctuate All About Eve, a retrospective of her work. Just how curious she was is evident in the timeline of the projects she undertook in her long career. It takes up one whole wall and makes for an illuminating read, not just because of the longevity of her career – from the late 1940s to the 90s – but for the range of subjects she tackled.
In 1978 alone, for instance, she shot several portraits, including Dirk Bogarde, Francis Bacon and Irene Papas, alongside advertisements for Optrex, the English Tourist Board, Pentax and Rolex as well as assignments on the White Jews of Cochin,...

Oren Peli, aka "that guy that made Paranormal Activity and got rich even though the movie was pretty much just okay," is banking on his success and now DreamWorks and Michael Green have created a TV show for him set in the Amazon rainforest. Here's the official synopsis:
Quote:
Famed explorer Dr. Emmet Cole (Bruce Greenwood) went looking for magic deep in the uncharted Amazon and never returned. Now, the shocking truth about his disappearance is out there, somewhere, just waiting to be discovered. To the millions of kids who grew up watching his nature show, Dr. Cole was a hero. The book "The Exorcist", famously made into a movie in 1973, came out 40 years ago.
To celebrate this anniversary, the author William Peter Blatty, now 83 years old, has returned to his original work and made various changes for a new special edition (Harper, $25.99 hardcover, $9.99 e-book). The changes include edits to the dialogue and an entirely new scene.
"This is the version I would like to be remembered for," Blatty wrote recently.
In an exclusive interview with The Huffington Post conducted via email, we asked Mr Blatty about 40-year-old rewrites, why "The Exorcist" became so popular, and what truly makes him feel scared.
How does it feel to revisit this book?
How does it feel? Like absolution after a sudden fall from grace.
The first time I had cause to read my novel after publication was about a dozen years ago when I was asked to do the narration for the audio book.
