Pat Carroll, the gregarious Emmy-winning comedienne who was a television mainstay for decades before segueing to a voiceover career that included portraying the villainous sea witch Ursula in The Little Mermaid, has died. She was 95.
Carroll died Saturday of pneumonia at her home in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, her daughter Kerry Karsian told The Hollywood Reporter.
Carroll’s perky personality, screwball wit and impeccable timing made her a great second banana, and Red Buttons, Jimmy Durante, Mickey Rooney, Steve Allen and Charley Weaver were among those who called upon her to make their programs funnier. Her antics on Caesar’s Hour earned her an Emmy in 1957, and she was nominated for her work on the classic variety show the following year.

Margo killed Quentin, Alice, and Eliot.
And that was the fun part on The Magicians Season 2 Episode 3 "Divine Elimination."
Credit where credit is due: the show knows how to throw a curveball.
We learned about the Beast's curse on The Magicians Season 2 Episode 2. But the way it played out still managed to be a surprise.
The only thing more fun than watching the royal friends attempt to assassinate one another was watching Penny try to stop them.
Fen: Curses are tricky.
Penny: You don't say.
Fen: They usually end once they've run their course. And not before.
Penny: That doesn't help us. This one seems to want to run its course until they're all dead.
Permalink: That doesn't help us. This one seems to want to run its course until they're all dead. Added: February 06, 2017
He's by far the character with the least patience for the group's often adolescent behavior.

During a recent press event prior to a special screening of The Exorcist at the 20th Century Fox studio lot, Daily Dead had the opportunity to chat with the show’s creator, Jeremy Slater, who has done an incredible job of adapting William Peter Blatty’s novel for the small screen.
During the interview, Slater talked about the pressure he felt taking on The Exorcist and what inspired him to tackle the monumental challenge in the first place. Slater also discussed how certain storylines and characters will intersect for the show’s finale on Friday, and more.
**Spoiler Warning: If you have not watched the first season of The Exorcist, you definitely should Not read on, as there are Major Spoilers ahead. If you are caught up with The Exorcist through episode 8, you should be just fine.**

I just picked up on this Business Insider interview with Shane Black, during which the Nice Guys director discussed Mel Gibson's fall from grace (Gibson of course starred in Lethal Weapon, the film that launched Black's screenwriting career) by stating that the actor has "essentially been blacklisted in the industry," before continuing: "I think people don't want to work with him." As Business Insider notes, Gibson has appeared in only six films since the notorious 2006 drunk driving arrest that saw him engaging in an anti-Semitic rant -- none of which were particularly successful either critically or commercially (with the possible exception of the ensemble action sequel The Expendables 3). It's a number that certainly backs up Black's "blacklisting" claim, though it isn't as if anyone needs the help of statistics to know that Gibson has fallen from grace in a big way over the last decade, during which he...

It's Upfronts Week, which means networks are unveiling teasers and trailers for their new 2015–16 TV shows. Here, an extremely preliminary set of immediate reactions to NBC's new series.Blindspot A naked, heavily tattooed woman wakes up in a duffel bag in Times Square. She has no memories! Some kind of government conspiracies, etc. First impressions: I'd be more intrigued if I hadn't been burned by elaborate high-concept shows in the past. (I remember you, Prison Break.) This already looks difficult to care about. The Player Vegas! Security firm! A dead wife! Etc.! Also, Wesley Snipes. First impressions: "From the executive producer of The Blacklist"? You don't say! Also reminiscent of Person of Interest. Falls under "slick bad-boy action procedural" umbrella. Heartbreaker Melissa George is a heart-transplant surgeon. But she's also a woman???? First impressions: She spits on people? Is that supposed to be okay? We've all done that by accident,...

Elizabeth Olsen has a message for fellow actresses starting out in Hollywood - it doesn't destroy your career if you appear naked on screen.
The 26-year-old star told Net-a-Porter's The Edit that she took inspiration from a young Kate Winslet in choosing to reveal all for a part.
"I love Kate Winslet and Cate Blanchett," she explained. "I remember watching Holy Smoke and thinking that it was so reassuring to see a young Kate doing something that was so bold in so many ways.
"I thought to myself, 'Ok, so it doesn't destroy your career if you appear nude or take risks', because not everyone in my family and group of friends thought it was the best idea to be naked in a movie.

Did you know movie studios hate money? As preposterous as that sounds, it can be the only explanation for the continuous, obvious, Insulting lack of female action figures. From "Batman: The Animated Series" producer/writer Paul Dini admitting executives don't want girls watching their shows "because girls don't buy toys" * to Disney being shocked at the outrage that they had no plans to sell Princess Leia figures in stores, Hollywood has made it pretty clear that unless otherwise noted, official merchandise is a "Boys Only" clubhouse. Which is doubly insulting if they think dudes don't also want to round out their "Guardians of the Galaxy" collection with Gamora and Nebula. *Excuse me while I die from the most hysterical laugh/cry of my life because I dare them to find Monster High or "Frozen" merchandise before Christmas without resorting to the seedy holiday shopping underbelly or elbowing an old lady in face.

Far be it for recappers to ignore the equivalent of a neon sign planted in the middle of a Mad Men episode reading: "Start here." So let's begin with Don Draper's conversation with Lloyd Hawley, whose company, LeaseTech, has come to outfit Sc&P with their first computer. Times being what they are, that computer is a lot closer to Eniac than a MacBook Pro, and given the agency's recent penchant for favoring mechanical competence over the artistic temperament, it's no surprise the necessary space is made by demolishing the creative lounge.

Alright internet, time to pull out the Nicolas Cage "You don't say" meme. Which by the way, I was informed is pronounced as "meem" and sometimes "meh-meh." but never "me-me"... as it should be. Anyway, back in November, I and many other writers across the internet had written stories about a mysterious Wonder Twins movie poster that was sent to Midtown Comics. The popular New York comic book shop posted images of it, which had a suspicious 2014 release date, and was supposedly featuring real-life boyfriend and girlfriend, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher. They even showed that the packaging had a Warner Bros. logo upon it. From there the speculation began to build, and now it has been revealed to be a mere hoax concocted by Pat Evans. Pat spoke with Marc Tyler Nobleman of noblemania.blogspot.com about how and why he punk'd the internet. Seriously, though…with the spate...

At 80, the singer recalls learning Welsh so she could talk to her grandparents and the difficulties of being a child star whose father was also her manager

So anyway. En route to Starbase Montgomery for some maintenance, Picard informs Riker that he's up for promotion – his own command and a deep space mission, both his if he wants it. He resolves to consider his acceptance. Ooh, the suspense! (not really. Was this even convincing at the time?)
After reaching the Starbase, the Enterprise welcomes aboard a special advisor who will brief Riker on the mission he's up for. And it turns out to be Riker's dad, Kyle Riker! Who doesn't love it when the parents visit? It's like the number one TV trope for guaranteed hilarity. Oh wait,...

Proclaiming "Finally, we have a member of the royal family with an actual excuse for being a toothless, petulant, useless human being..." Oliver then paused for a moment. "That one could get me into trouble back home."
You don't say?
After the multiple-part segment that skewered the royals – "Just how inbred is this family?" – the Queen herself, as well as the international obsession with the birth, we wouldn't be surprised if Oliver has some passport trouble if he tries to visit anytime soon.

Yesterday, we asked you to pick your top three movies of the year so far, and today we continue our look back at the very best that 2013 had to offer during the first six months of the year.
"Man of Steel" leads, but you can change that. Vote in our mid-year poll!
Instead of waiting around for "prestige" movies to come along and steal all of the honors away from the films that might not be as fresh in people's minds, we decided to give our a few mid-year honors for the Best of 2013 (so far).
Check them out after the jump!
Best Villain Death - Zod
So maybe it wasn't completely in line with the character of Superman as established in the comic books, but for "Man of Steel," the moment was a long time coming and earned thanks to the evilness of Michael Shannon's Zod. It's a...

And now, a fun and decidedly underrated fact: Amy Adams has been nominated for four Oscars, and she's still only 38 years old. Maybe the most respected and sought-after actress of her generation, Adams routinely shows up in movies beloved by critics and audiences alike with significant and scene-stealing roles. She displays exceptional versatility, and her talent demands that she not be pigeon-holed into any specific acting stereotype, despite her real-life charming and easygoing public persona.
Now, as her latest film "Man of Steel" hits theaters, we here at NextMovie wanted to ask ourselves an important question of Adams, one that has yet to be publicly addressed in a satisfactory manner: Is Amy Adams hot, or not?
I've split myself into two equally terrifying and thankfully fictional personalities, a la Charlie Kaufman in "Adaptation," to debate each other and ultimately make the final, irreversible decision on this matter (a decision that means nothing to anyone,...

Necessary Roughness season 3 opened up with plenty of "Ch-Ch-Changes" for everyone, but does that mean some of this team's key players may be moving on?
Six months after Dani turned her heart over to Matt, he's wearing a wedding ring...but the matching one isn't on Dani's finger.
Matt decided to do "the right thing" and wed Noelle. With a six month gap, it's hard to tell what the right thing really was, however. We never saw Matt's reaction to finding out about Noelle's pregnancy. He made it clear that he always wanted to start a family... but is he starting one with the right woman?
Without having seen how Dani and Matt broke up, it's hard to read between the lines. Was their split by mutual consent or did Matt decide to walk away? Anyway, it looks like a baby on the way was the last straw for the Matt and Dani romance.

You don't say. One day after Farrah Abraham announced an upcoming reality docu-soap series based on her life via Twitter, the Teen Mom star used the social media site yet again to humble brag about her recently released sex tape, Farrah Abraham Superstar: Backdoor Teen Mom. "It's weird that my guy friends from school watched me having #sex @Vivid & then told me #ItWasHot," she wrote on Thursday, May 23. The 21-year-old mom previously tweeted that she herself had no interest in watching the tape, which she [...]...

Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson may be getting top billing and plenty of attention for their performances in "Pain & Gain," but Anthony Mackie is as much an integral part of the film as his more well-known counterparts. Playing real-life criminal Adrian Doorbal for Michael Bay's latest trip into excess (based on the true-life tale of a Miami crime spree brought to life by a series of Miami New Times articles back in 1999), Mackie has once again added another strong supporting performance to his already impressive resume of work ("Million Dollar Baby," "We Are Marshall," "The Hurt Locker"). Mackie has a busy slate ahead of him, with Bill Condon's "The Fifth Estate" and the crime thriller "Runner, Runner" (which stars Ben Affleck, Justin Timberlake, and Gemma Arterton) on the way later this year, and "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" due out in 2014. But it's "Pain & Gain" that...

Last week, on his YouTube series "Speakeasy," Paul F. Tompkins had Alison Brie acting out a variety of the Internet's favorite memes. This week, Pft is at it again, with New Girl's Jake Johnson taking on the best/worst in Internet nonsense. Watch below as he does his best Strutting Leo, You Don't Say?, and troll face. It all ends with the part he was destined to play: Grumpy Cat. The resemblance to Nick Miller's turtle face is uncanny.

New York — Emilia Clarke was auditioning to play one of America's most iconic heroines and wanted to impress. Her first scene required her to bite an apple.
"I was like, `Oh, yeah. I'm going to go all Daniel Day-Lewis on them. I'm going to bring my own apple!" the British actress recently recalled.
Everything was going well in the London rehearsal room until the character takes a bite. "I took this almighty hunk. I literally took half the apple in this one mouthful," she says, laughing.
As her scene partner and the director watched, stunned, Clarke kept going, despite a mouthful of fruit. "I remember being, `Well, I guess I have to kind of go there.'"
Whether it was due to her exuberance or sheer commitment, or a mixture of both, Clarke won the part, and what a part it is: Holly Golightly in a stage adaptation of Truman Capote's classic 1958 novella,...

Phew! We sure are relieved that President Obama had the good thought to "pardon" the sequester and send it to South America. But did you also hear that South Korea is developing a "sequester" of their own? It's quite a scary world we live in.
Oh, what's that? Jimmy Kimmel just made all that up to confuse pedestrians on the streets of Los Angeles? And you can watch that Lol-inducing video above? You don't say!

Alex Karpovsky is a busy, busy guy. He's best known for his role as Ray, the coffee-slinging man-child entangled with the naive Shoshanna on HBO's "Girls," but when he's not wearing his characters Cafe Grumpy apron, you might find Karpovsky in an editing bay, behind a camera, holed up writing, or starring in one of his own films.
Though two of these features, "Rubberneck" and "Red Flag," are both out on VOD and in limited release Friday, their openings and top billing (Karpovsky is writer, director and star of both) are about all they have in common. "Rubberneck" follows meek research scientist Paul (Karpovsky), whose infatuation with a co-worker escalates to dangerous levels, while in "Red Flag," Karpovsky plays himself as a filmmaker struggling with life and love on the road.

1.) When Fox's video game adaptation Hitman grossed nearly $100 million worldwide on a budget around $20 million back in 2007, you would have thought the studio would make a sequel a priority. The follow-up was discussed on-and-off for years, but never came to fruition, most likely because original star Timothy Olyphant was never keen on returning to the franchise (or shaving his head in general). He recently went as far as telling the Nerdist podcast he only did the first one so he could pay for his new house after getting blindsided by the sudden cancellation of "Deadwood." Anyway, Fox has now decided to reboot the actioner as Agent 47 with Paul Walker starring as the barcoded assassin. The script was written by Michael Finch (Predators) and Skip Woods (A Good Day to Die Hard), with commercials director Aleksander Bach making his feature debut. The move makes sense for all involved as Walker could...

This year's most highly anticipated science-fiction action film just got a ringing endorsement from the director of last year's best science-fiction film action film, and that's a very good thing.
"Looper" director Rian Johnson was lucky enough (the jerk!) to check out an early screening of "Pacific Rim," Guillermo del Toro's monsters-versus-robots awesome-fest scheduled for release this summer. In one tweet sent out on Saturday, Johnson succinctly caused us even more excitement than we already had.
Read what he had to say after the jump!
"Go into Pacific Rim prepared to be transmogrified into a 12 year old," Johnson wrote. "And then to pee your pants with joy. I love it so much."
Since we're pretty sure Johnson means this in a good, we've set our hype meters to 1.21 gigawatts and started counting the days until July 12. While we're sure Johnson wants to help out fellow geek-in-arms del Toro and screenwriter Travis Beacham,...

What Is fatherhood all about? Director Ken Scott set out to explore this idea, and ended up making a comedy about a man with 533 children... as you do.
French Canadian rom-com 'Starbuck' tells the story of David Wozniack, a perpetual teenager whose girlfriend's pregnancy makes him fear he isn't mature enough to a father. Strange then that his earlier days as an anonymous sperm donor have made him the biological father to that ridiculous number of children, some of whom are coming to find him.
Patrick Huard stars as David Wozniack, the unknowing father to many
The film has been well received, including audience awards at festivals, and is now slated for a Us remake starring Vince Vaughn. Director Scott, a Canadian filmmaker with three children himself and "surrounded by fathers", admitted he wanted some comedy in there "so we really exaggerated the situation". You don't say?

In her new Broadway play, Katie Holmes plays a woman who moves back in with her parents in Cincinnati after a relationship falls apart.
She can relate -- at least to the Midwestern setting and the values of the family at the center of "Dead Accounts."
"I still think of myself as Midwestern," Holmes tells The New York Times in an interview with her and "Dead Accounts" co-star, Norbert Leo Butz. "I mean, I've had box wine. It's good. And it's a lot easier to open."

Holmes deflects any questions related to her personal life and very public divorce from Tom Cruise, preferring instead to talk about what she sees of herself in her character, Lorna. One thing that resonates with her, she says, is the "Midwestern work ethic."

Fame and fortune aside, it turns out Katie Holmes is one pretty down-to-earth gal. "I still think of myself as Midwestern," the actress told the New York Times while promoting her upcoming Broadway play, Dead Accounts. "I mean, I've had box wine...It's good. And it's a lot easier to open." The Toledo, Ohio, native added that she definitely identifies with Lorna, her character in the show. "I'm like Lorna in that my values guide me in an instinctual way, like, 'That feels weird' or 'I better send a thank you,'" Holmes said. "Also, the Midwestern work ethic: You do what you do, and you don't talk about it. "You don't say,...

Katie Holmes headed out of her NYC apartment yesterday and reported to her Broadway theater to put in an evening's work on the stage. She appeared in the latest showing of Dead Accounts, her play which opened in previews Monday. Katie's Broadway reviews are quite good so far. The production officially opens Nov. 29, and Katie's been doing press to chat up the project. Katie talked to The New York Times about pressures of the play and her real life, as well as what she has in common with her character, Lorna. Katie said: On her character's drinking box wine: "I still think of myself as Midwestern . . . I mean, I've had box wine. It's good. And it's a lot easier to open." On her family's guidance: "I have these moments where what's going on in my life is unbelievable, and you have to tell everyone to figure out how to respond.

For Roto-Rooter plumber (yes, he still does plumbing) and paranormal investigator Jason Hawes of Syfy's long-running Wednesday-night reality hit "Ghost Hunters," currently airing new episodes, life after his longtime partner, Grant Wilson, left the TV show is pretty much like life before he left the TV show.

This weekend, "Men in Black 3," starring Will Smith, hits theaters nationwide. Unfortunately, what should be regarded as a light summer popcorn flick has turned into an entertainment gossip storm. The sequel reportedly went into production before the script was finished, and ended up receiving multiple rewrites. (Filmmakers even took a break from shooting to try and fix the story's problems.) Earlier this month, the L.A. Times reported that the film's budget was -- including marketing -- a whopping $375 million. Obviously, this movie has a lot riding on it -- it can't afford to be a Memorial Day weekend distraction, it needs to be a global phenomenon on par with its two predecessors. Moviefone recently spoke with series director Barry Sonnenfeld about the film's well-documented problems. However, according to him, they aren't problems at all: After all the media attention regarding rewrites and rumored script changes demanded by Will Smith,...
