As announced on Sunday night (April 21st), Ozzy Osbourne is among the 2024 inductees for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist, and the legendary singer has said this one “feels different” than his 2006 induction with Black Sabbath.
Ozzy offered up his reaction to Billboard via email, sharing humbling remarks about his post-Black Sabbath career.
“I’m more than honored,” Ozzy said, saying the nod “feels big.” After all, this comes after his wife Sharon blasted the Rock Hall last year for not considering Ozzy as solo act even though he’s been eligible since 2005.
He admitted that he didn’t necessarily feel “confident” about embarking on a solo career in 1980 following his time with Black Sabbath. But his late guitarist Randy Rhoads sparked the magic, co-penning iconic hits like “Crazy Train” and two seminal albums: 1980’s Blizzard of Ozz and 1981’s Diary of a Madman. Ozzy has...

At last, Scarface played a Tiny Desk Concert for NPR, tearing through highlights from his prolific career with a little help from fellow Houston legend Mike Dean.
The Geto Boys rapper began the set by introducing everybody in his band, with Dean — who produced many of his early records — on the keyboard right next to him. “I guess I call myself the curator — I don’t know if you wanna call me the DJ, the conductor, the railroad, but my name is Facemob,” he said. “And we came here to jam for y’all tonight. This morning. Whenever the fuck it is.”
As they began “On My Block,” from Scarface’s 2002 album The Fix, the rapper went on to give a little abridged backstory behind the track: “Me and Freaky Dean was in New York. And we was high. That’s gonna be the basis of all our fuckin’ songs.

The legendary Ozzy Osbourne feels remorse for not making “more varied” music. While he is proud of the way Black Sabbath made heavy metal “big”, the rockstar said that he would have liked to have explored outside of the genre and produced some songs that were less “aggressive”, reports aceshowbiz.com.
“You know what, I would have liked to have been a little more varied,” he told The Sun newspaper when asked if he wished he had ever moved away from heavy metal.
“Black Sabbath music is very aggressive even if some of it is foot-tapping.”
“But we fought the f****** world to make it big. But mind you, it’s a good thing we didn’t get our royalties when we were 23 because I would have f***** myself into another planet.”
The 73-year-old singer said that there are some collaborations he’d loved to have been able to secure.

Randy Rhoads’ masterful guitar solos and unique approach to heavy-metal riffing, which drew more influence from Bach than Black Sabbath, made him an instant guitar legend with the release of “Blizzard of Ozz,” Ozzy Osbourne’s 1980 solo debut. Rhoads had spent the previous couple of years struggling in an early lineup of Quiet Riot — the two records he recorded with them came out only in Japan — so the success of the album and its hit single, “Crazy Train,” was a feat both for him and for Osbourne, who was at...

Lee Kerslake, the drummer on two of Ozzy Osborne’s most critically hailed albums and for hard rock band Uriah Heep, has died. He passed away on Saturday after a long battle with prostate cancer, according to a friend.
Uriah Heep bandmate Ken Hensley made the announcement. “It’s with the heaviest of hearts that I share with you that Lee Kerslake, my friend of 55 years and the best drummer I ever played with, lost his battle with cancer at 03:30 this morning. He died peacefully, praise The Lord, but he will be terribly missed.”
Kerslake played with Osbourne in 1980 and ’81, appearing on his first two solo albums, Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman. He also appeared on the 1987 Tribute live album.

When Ozzy Osbourne launched his solo career with his 1980 debut album Blizzard of Ozz, he didn’t have the same support he had as a member of Black Sabbath. “That was in a warehouse in London,” Osbourne says of the album sleeve featuring him in a cape holding a cross with skull on the ground and a black cat behind him. “Because of funds, we had to do it ourselves. I think the cat was just there.” Then, with a laugh, he references one of the record’s more gothic songs,...

Yael Stone has accused Geoffrey Rush of past sexual misconduct. In an article published by The New York Times on Monday, the Australian actress alleged the Oscar winner displayed inappropriate behavior during the time of their 2010-2011 productionThe Diary of a Madman. Rush called her allegations "incorrect" and said "in some instances" they were "taken completely out of context." "However, clearly Yael has been upset on occasion by the spirited enthusiasm I generally bring to my work," he wrote in part of his statement to the newspaper. "This, most certainly, has never been my intention." He also claimed, "I abhor any...

“Orange Is the New Black” star Yael Stone has come forward with accusations of sexual misconduct against veteran actor Geoffrey Rush.
In a story published by the New York Times Sunday, Stone, who plays Lorna Morello on the Netflix comedy, detailed incidents between her and Rush she says occurred when they co-starred in a production of “The Diary of a Madman” together, eight years ago in Sydney, Australia. She was 25 years old at the time and Rush was 59.
Stone’s claims that Rush sent her inappropriate text messages, tried to watch her shower, and exposed his penis to her while working on the show, come months after Rush sued an Australian tabloid for defamation over sexual misconduct claims made against him by an unidentified “King Lear” co-star, who was later revealed to be Eryn Jean Norvill.

There’s something about having an unreliable protagonist which breeds such engaging cinema. Dating back to Nikolai Gogol’s Diary of a Madman, it’s adopting the perspective of an unpredictable narrator, allowing the viewer to question what it is they’re seeing – and it’s here Steven Soderbergh’s Unsane comes into its own. With strong acting performances brining this tale to the life, it does beg the question – why did this esteemed filmmaker shoot this movie on an iPhone and thus undermine and cheapen his own storytelling credentials?
Claire Foy plays Sawyer Valentini, the victim of a stalker, who moved state and changed jobs in a bid to start again, away from her perpetrator’s unrelenting behaviour. Though she can’t escape him psychologically, and so she heads to a nearby hospital to talk a support group worker, and when asked if she ever feels suicidal,...

Among the crown jewels of Scream Factory’s ever-growing library of classic horror titles on Blu-ray (and some not-so-classic) are their Vincent Price Collection boxed sets, collecting many of the icon’s greatest films including most of the Roger Corman “Poe cycle”, as well as other goodness like the Dr. Phibes movies and the brilliant Witchfinder General. Not only do these collections celebrate one of the greatest icons the genre has ever known, but also honor a kind of old-school horror of which we don’t see enough anymore.
But by the recently released Vincent Price Collection III, the third collection of Price movies on Blu-ray, Scream Factory has had to dig up some fairly esoteric titles, not all of which can be considered horror. Unfortunately, Theater of Blood is still nowhere to be found on Blu-ray and Kino Lorber has the rights for anthologies like Tales of Terror and Twice Told Tales,...

Genre fans have a quiet week of home entertainment releases ahead of them as February 16th features only a handful of horror and sci-fi Blu-ray and DVD offerings. That being said, cult and classic horror film fanatics should be ecstatic with several of the Blus coming out on Tuesday, including The Vincent Price Collection III, The Mutilator, Curse of the Faceless Man and My Science Project, featuring none other than the legendary Dennis Hopper.
Other releases this week include Estranged and Riddle Room.
Curse of the Faceless Man (Kino Lorber, Blu-ray)
Entombed for eons and turned to stone... the Volcano Man of 2,000 years ago stalks the earth to claim his woman! A team of archeologists, led by Dr. Paul Mallon (Richard Anderson, TV’s The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman) excavates a perfectly preserved faceless man of stone encased in lava from a site at ancient Pompeii.

The health woes of Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne, which caused the band to cancel a number of dates on its current tour, have been “a nightmare,” Osbourne’s wife Sharon revealed on Thursday’s episode of “The Talk.” However, she also noted, the “Diary of a Madman” singer is “doing so much better” now. “He had sinusitis, which went to bronchitis and he said that he felt like he had the Pacific Ocean in his ear, and he couldn’t hear properly — it’s been a nightmare,” Osbourne told her cohorts on the CBS talk show. On the eve of the November 1963 release of Twice Told Tales, the British actor Sebastian Cabot would tell a reporter from the Copley News Service, “They’ve been after me to do more of the horror pictures with Vincent Price. I wouldn’t mind that a bit, though I must say I wouldn’t want to do them exclusively.” He intimated that he and his co-star had discussed a possible future pairing in “a light comedy” motion-picture. Alas, it was not to be; the two actors would not work together again. Cabot, of course, would soldier on and enjoy success as both a television personality and a recognizable voice-over actor. Following the passing of Boris Karloff in 1969, Vincent Price would reign as the big-screen’s uncontested “King of Horror.” Cabot’s estimation of Price as an actor “extremely adept” at light-comedy was incisive. Last year we ran a schedule of every TV/Cable network schedule we could find that could be construed as Horror or Halloween related for the month of October. Let’s just say it proved useful for our readers and even for our staff when they were looking to find something to watch, wanted to program their DVR’s or didn’t want to miss out on some great “live” Horror. Isn’t there something about having a movie fed to you on TV as opposed to watching it on Blu-ray or DVD or streaming? We may not like commercials, but the randomness that you can associate with a TV program itinerary is novel. It removes a little bit of control from the audience who is all to concerned with being in control these days (just look at the reasons behind publishing a piece like this).

Laura Prepon is set to co-star opposite Taylor Schilling in Orange Is The New Black, Netflix’s new 13-episode hourlong series from Weeds creator Jenji Kohan. Also cast in the series as a recurring is Australian actress Yael Stone. Based on the book by Piper Kerman, Orange Is The New Black is a one-hour drama, with comedic elements, about Piper (Schilling) an engaged Brooklynite whose decade-old relationship with a drug-runner (Prepon) in college results in her arrest and multi-year detention in a federal penitentiary. Lacking any real-world experience to deal with this harsh new environment, Piper immerses herself in women’s prison culture. Stone will play Boston-Italian inmate Rosemarie Perrone, the very happily engaged-to-be-married transport driver at a Connecticut women’s prison who is also not very-not-above servicing her own, ahem, needs – usually with her fellow cons in the shower. Stone, repped by Gersh, Shanahan in Australia, and Andy Corren Management,...

For Christopher Eccleston, small is always beautiful, whether it be TV thriller Blackout or Greek tragedy Antigone on the stage. He reveals why making films just doesn't compare
He strides across the polished tiled floor, past imposing columns and heavy, intricately carved doors. Outside, the Manchester winds are furiously buffeting the redbrick walls of this grand, turn-of-the-last-century university hall. There seems nowhere more appropriate to meet Christopher Eccleston: he has a face to fit buildings like this, an on-screen intensity that is the match of the architecture. But even so, his latest TV role looks set to stretch him: an unflinching, uncomfortable, three-hour examination of addiction and corruption, in which Eccleston goes from rock bottom to hero, as Manchester politician Daniel Demoys.
Written by Bill Gallagher, who adapted Lark Rise to Candleford for the small screen, Blackout puts alcoholism under the microscope in the course of its three episodes.

Academy Award-winning actor Geoffrey Rush plans to use his Australian of the Year award to encourage more people to watch local theatre productions and films.
Prime minister Julia Gillard presented Rush with the prestigious award yesterday in recognition of his 40-year contribution to the industry, as well as his support for.young actors and remaining grounded in the local community.

Rush, the third actor to receive the award after Robert Helpmann and Paul Hogan, later told reporters: .An empty theatre or an empty cinema, metaphorically, is not a great place for a culture to be in and I want to try and encourage more people to take a punt and go and see what.s made in this country.

After a few delays, R&B crooner The-Dream is readying his next album for release sometime later this year, and he's just dropped a new track anticipating it. In the finest Dream tradition, "Roc (Roc Your Body)" is another instantly catchy, slow-pace, dance floor jam highlighting both Dream's yearning, falsetto voice and his largely '80-inspired production style. Here the track here: The upcoming album, the follow-up to 2010's "Love King," will be his fourth full-length (not including the free album he released under his given name, Terius Nash) and is tentatively titled "The Love, IV: Diary of a Madman." Geoffrey Rush has donated some of his most famous costumes and awards to a historical theatre collection in Melbourne. The Australian actor, who is best known for movie roles in The King's Speech and Pirates of the Caribbean, decided to give away his stage mementos because they were just stashed between layers of cardboard at home. Rush donated his costumes from Exit the King and The Diary of a Madman, his Tony award for Exit the King and his recent Helpmann award to the Performing Arts Collection at Melbourne's Art Centre. He told the Herald Sun that he felt the time was right to give away some portraits of stage performances, saying: "I didn't really want to hang them up because I thought (more)...

You may not recognise the name, but I guarantee that you have seen (or own) his work. For over 30 years, Steve 'Krusher' Joule has designed album covers for the likes of Hawkwind (Live ‘79), Ozzy Osbourne (Diary Of A Madman, Bark At The Moon), Black Sabbath (Born Again), and more.
For 10 years he was the art director for Kerrang! Magazine that Metallica’s Lars Ulrich once called “the most important magazine for us.”

Ozzy Osbourne has suggested that modern rock music is too reliant on technology. The former Black Sabbath frontman told The Guardian that his first two solo albums Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman have genuine atmosphere. Osbourne said: "You know, when I listen to those two records now I hear a real vibe. Rock music is not meant to be perfect. "[Guitarist] Randy [Rhoads] loved hearing his fingers slide up and down the strings. Nowadays everyone irons the f**king air, it's all about technology. Everyone wants to give you some advice!"
