- Tessa: Oh, I feel just like a fat, well-fed, old cat. I never had a cat. With the circus, it's difficult. Lions, of course. That's different. And when I was very little, I never even played with dolls. I had a monkey. I guess that's why I grew up crazy.
- Eddie: [singing] Step right up for the Main Attraction, Form a line, it's a sight to see, Come up close and watch the action, First in line stands right behind me...
- Tessa: I'm glad I'm not in love with you.
- Eddie: That would be - pretty foolish, wouldn't it.
- Tessa: Actually, I don't even like you, very much. Why, I could even kiss you without feeling anything - I think.
- [kiss]
- Tessa: Eddie, Eddie. I didn't mean what I said.
- Eddie: Listen to me, I'll tell you something. I love you - I think.
- [kiss]
- Eddie: It's happening again. I can feel it.
- Tessa: What?
- Eddie: Trouble. Its hounded me all my life. Its in the air. I can smell it. Its lookin' for me out there, somewhere.
- Tessa: Why should trouble be after you?
- Eddie: Some people - are marked for it. Like me. It's like a shadow that follows me. I attract it. And I bring it down on everybody else. That's why I keep moving.
- Eddie: [singing] Let two lips light the fire of love's desire, do, Oh, lover kiss me now, kiss me now, Feel my heart say, I'll love you forever, this way...
- Elleanora Marino: What evil can happen in the middle of the circus ring? They're both young.
- Rico Marino: Yes - and the young are curious. I think you ought to speak to Tessa.
- Elleanora Marino: No. It can be harmful to be too protective.
- Eddie: Maybe you better understand me. I'm a mongrel pup. I don't go out of my way lookin' for trouble. I like things soft and easy. When I find 'em that way I stretch out on the doormat and wag my tail.
- Gina: Get out! Get out! Sleep with the midgets. Sleep anywhere you like. I don't care. And then, when you're fed up with that, you see, you know what I might just do? I just might let you come whining back; because, I don't need you. I don't need anybody! So, get out. Get out.
- Gina: Don't be so difficult. You forgot to kiss me. Come on, be nice. You don't want to wake up with those cold little midgets, do you?
