Mamie Van Doren, née Joan Lucille Olander, was born in Rowena, South Dakota in 1931. In 1942 the family relocated to Hollywood where the camera-ready kid blossomed at the speed of light – a Pantages usherette at the age of 13, she racked up a string of attention-grabbing gigs that led to a reign as Miss Eight Ball and the inevitable merger with Tinseltown’s preeminent lounge lizard, Howard Hughes.

In the past few months, one of my favorite things to do has become listening to the podcast Lore, created and produced by Aaron Mahnke. I’ve always been fascinated in the supernatural and I’ve always enjoyed learning about legends and folklore from around the world.
The Lore podcast is 100% focused on these things and I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to each and every episode that has been released. They just suck me right in! Some of them are creepy as hell and I always learning something new that I hadn’t known before. Even stories that I’m already familiar with, the Podcast has managed to include several bits of info that pleasantly surprised me.

The third episode sees him cast as a villainous cousin named Jack Dunne who spreads superstitious malfeasance. Titled “Black Stockings”, the episode is a detailed look at the 19th-century Irish belief in Changelings, a fairy left after a human is taken by fairies. The story is entwined with a modern-day murder case of a man who killed his wife while running in the park using the Irish “Changeling” defense. Lore is a new six-part anthology series based on the popular podcast by Aaron Mahnke....read more...
