- Sylvia Lorgan: I know you're in a hurry.
- Ruth Danvers: Don't flatter yourself I'm leaving because of you. To him you're just part of the noise out there.
- Sylvia Lorgan: Sure I'm part of the noise. But I'm the kind of noise he likes.
- Ruth Danvers: Why is it men always like things that are either illegal, immoral or fattening?
- Bucky Hillberry: The only thing I ever wanted out of rodeo was to buy my own spread.
- Ruth Danvers: Local boy made good.
- Bucky Hillberry: I remember that you and Hob used to have the same idea. Don't let him wait too long, honey.
- Ruth Danvers: Maybe it's already too long. I'm afraid I'm on the outside looking in.
- Bucky Hillberry: Hi there, Hob!
- Hob Danvers: Bucky! It's been a long time.
- Bucky Hillberry: Hey, haven't you found a better way to make a living?
- Hob Danvers: You know me. Brave and lazy. How's the ranching business?
- Bucky Hillberry: It's easy on the old bones that's for sure. You've been on the circuit a long time now. I'll bet you don't bounce as you used to either.
- Sylvia Lorgan: He's learned a secret. Don't fall off.
- Sylvia Lorgan: Show 'em who's boss for me, Hob.
- Hob Danvers: You know I could get killed out there too.
- Sylvia Lorgan: No, you feel too alive.
- Sylvia Lorgan: On that horse you could've walked away with the calf roping money.
- Hob Danvers: I'm not entered.
- Sylvia Lorgan: Why aren't you?
- Hob Danvers: We got a seven-day rodeo in Texas next week. Why wear myself out?
- Sylvia Lorgan: I remember when you used to enter exhibition events just for the kick of it.
- Hob Danvers: Maybe I traded in some of that muscle on a few brains. Look, Sylvia, if you got something pinching you, shake it loose.
- Sylvia Lorgan: All of a sudden anything I say sets you off, dosen't it?
- Hob Danvers: I got things on my mind. You know that.
- Sylvia Lorgan: What's on your mind went home. We said goodbye.
- Hob Danvers: I'm not talking about her.
- Sylvia Lorgan: Well, I am!
- Hob Danvers: I'm here, ain't I?
- Sylvia Lorgan: I wanna keep it that way.
- Lew Hutchins: [to Hob] She's the only thing that will last when you're looking back at this life. Give her a chance. Give yourself a chance. One stinkin' lousy chance!
- Lew Hutchins: [Referring to his young son] He forgets I'm alive when he sees you out there.
- Hob Danvers: Too bad he wasn't big enough a couple years ago. He would have jumped out of his skin to see you take a bronc.
- Ruth Danvers: Hob, I'm here to find out where I belong. It hasn't been fun these past two years. There's nothing special about me. I get lonely.
- Hob Danvers: Separation was your idea.
- Ruth Danvers: You're leaving something out, aren't you?
- Hob Danvers: Nothing that counts.
- Ruth Danvers: When you hit big money, you were supposed to buy us a big ranch or a business. Some kind of future. All it brought us was more rodeo and nothing to show for it.
- Hob Danvers: I'm still doing what I know best, and better than most.
- Ruth Danvers: How long do you think you'll last?
