Before teaming with Vee Lawnhurst, Tot Seymour was already successful as the lyricist of "Swingin' In a Hammock," "On The Beach With You," and "I'm Makin' Hay In The Moonlight" (sung by Dick Powell in the 1932 film Blessed Event). Early in her career she wrote special material for stars such as Fannie Brice, Sophie Tucker, Belle Baker, and Mae West.
