Esther Ofarim is an Israeli singer. In addition to a solo career, she was part of the husband-and-wife duo Esther & Abi. She was born in Safed to a Syrian Jewish family. She began performing as a child, singing Hebrew and international folk songs. In 1959, she met Abi Ofarim, a guitarist and dancer, whom she married in 1961.
