Portia de Rossi was born and raised in Geelong, Australia. Originally born Amanda Rogers, at 15 she changed her name to Portia, saying that it was the most daring thing she had ever done up until that point. After graduating from high school, she attended the University of Melbourne, and studied law. Although she studied diligently, in 1993, Portia found herself giving special notice to a casting director who saw her in a commercial, and she soon auditioned for Sirens (1994), a low budget comedy starring Hugh Grant. She was cast in the role of Giddy, one of the three gorgeous models in the movie. It wasn't until 1997, however, that Portia at last began to attract real attention. She turned an unforgettable role as Murphy in Scream 2 (1997), and in 1998 she joined the cast of Ally McBeal (1997) as the "Ice Queen", Nelle Porter. She has also worked on such projects as Stigmata (1999), Girl (1998), and The Invisibles (1999), and she has appeared on several magazine covers, including Shape. After more than a decade of hard work, Portia is finally beginning to win real recognition, not only for her long golden tresses, but also for her wonderful talent.- Actor

Karl Schmid is a television host originally from Australia.
Born in a small town just outside of Melbourne, Karl had the passion from a young age to be a TV host.
At a young age Karl left Australia to live in more exotic locations with his parents. First the Fiji Islands, and then New Zealand. But it was in Christchurch where a young Karl first got a real taste for television when he was cast in the role of Beaven in the TVNZ children's drama 'Mel's Amazing Movies' about a young girl and her friends who set out on wild adventures making their own films.
Karl's talents quickly caught the eye of the producers of New Zealand's number one weekend children's live TV show, 'What Now' and he soon became a regular contributor to the program.
After graduating high school Karl took some time out to explore the world and it wasn't until 2004 after having worked with famous Australian comedian Barry Humphries (a.k.a Dame Edna Everage) that Karl returned to television screens, this time in Australia as the host of TV1's Entertainment Daily - a roundup Hollywood and Show business style magazine program. This relaunched Karl's hosting career and he has since gone on to work across Australia's television networks and has also appeared on UK television. He has interviewed some of the biggest names in entertainment today and continues to prove himself as one of Australia's top young television hosts.
