“The Boogeyman is coming.”
That was former Indiana Pacers hall-of-famer Reggie Miller earlier this week in anticipation of calling a playoff game between the Pacers and the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. In his nearly 20 year NBA career, Miller was the bane of many Knicks fans’ existence for his clutch shotmaking, trashtalking and gamesmanship.
Some of Miller’s most famous interactions came with Knicks superfan Spike Lee, with whom he has gone back and forth over the years. Now we can add Ben Stiller to the list.
Miller was doing a standup tonight in the tunnel at Madison Square Garden with TNT’s Inside the NBA crew and talking about how much New Yorkers hate him, when one very well-known fan entered the shot.

I would have expected the new indie anthology film Beware the Boogeyman to have come out a while back, closer to the release of the widely hyped Stephen King adaptation, The Boogeyman. The inspiration is obvious, one scene even has a character holding a copy of Night Shift, the collection of King’s stories that brought it to most people’s attention. In any case, it’s out now and wants you to believe in it.
Beware the Boogeyman opens with Dr. Tristan Makenzie the newest potential addition to Silverdale Psychiatric Hospital’s staff going in for her orientation on, of all days, a Sunday. Dr. Gabey Moon meets...

DreamWorks Animation’s latest feature, “Orion and the Dark,” is all but guaranteed to surprise you. It’s skipping theaters and going straight to Netflix, for starters. On a story level, it reveals the little-known fact that every time humans fall asleep, they’re being bludgeoned or smothered into unconsciousness by a little blue gremlin. But the biggest shock may be the name that appears on the screenplay.
An adult-friendly kids movie about dealing with your anxieties — first and foremost, fear of the dark — the computer-animated feature was written by Charlie Kaufman, the intellect behind “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” and “Adaptation.” The project is itself a miles-outside-the-box adaptation of an inventive and fairly straightforward picture book by Emma Yarlett, which Kaufman complicates as only a galaxy brain like his can.

A battle for control of the International Space Station is the focus of director Gabriela Cowperthwaite’s sci-fi thriller I.S.S. The infinity of space provides the backdrop for Cowperthwaite’s film, which restricts the action to the space station and the combatants to just six.
The six include three Americans – played by Oscar winner Ariana DeBose (West Side Story), Chris Messina (The Boogeyman), and John Gallagher Jr. (Gaslight) – and three Russians – played by Pilou Asbæk (Game of Thrones), Masha Mashkova (For All Mankind), and Costa Ronin (The Americans). Of the six, only DeBose’s character, Dr. Kira Foster, is an I.S.S. newbie. Four of the astronauts/cosmonauts are already on board the station when she arrives. And her traveling companion, Gallagher’s Christian Campbell, has previous experience living in the structure that serves as an orbiting scientific laboratory.

In a Halloween world where every person is a monster, a vampire, a skeleton, a werewolf, a demon, or a creature that hides under the stairs, who could possibly be a villain? In Henry Selick's 1993 stop-motion animated fantasy "The Nightmare Before Christmas," Jack Skellington is the community's most famous local hero, but he is not a killer. Indeed, Jack seems to be good-hearted (if he had a heart) and secretly longs for romance. The local mad scientist Dr. Finkelstein (William Hickey) can resurrect dead skeletons, but he doesn't want to take lives. Even the two-faced Mayor (Glenn Shadix) is more ineffectual than evil.
The only monster in Halloween Town that truly longs for violence and aches to kill people with his own hands is Oogie Boogie, a.k.a. the Boogeyman (Ken Page). As imagined by the film's designer, Tim Burton, Oogie Boogie is a large, empty-eyed burlap sack full of bugs and snakes.

Along the way you will collect special abilities and repair the damage this night has wrought upon this idyllic town.

Despite what Anthony Michael Hall's Tommy Doyle wants you to believe, evil doesn't always die tonight. Most times, it lives to be rebooted over and over again.
After forever changing the horror landscape and delivering a rather inconsistent series of movies, "Halloween" returned once again in 2018. David Gordon Green rebooted the franchise with the awkwardly titled "Halloween" and its sequels, which promised to deliver the ultimate, final confrontation between Michael Myers and Jamie Lee Curtis' Laurie Strode. Green's reboot trilogy followed an older Laurie, who struggles to cope with the trauma of the horrific attack she experienced 40 years prior at the hands of the silent masked killer Michael, as well as the toll it took on her family. The trilogy also explored the impact Michael has on the larger Haddonfield community upon his return (prompting them to seek mob justice), in addition to the notion of an heir to Michael's evil.

I love everything about October, especially in a year that offers a bonus Friday on the 13th in 2023. So, Friday the 13th and Halloween this year make the spooky season even more special. And one of my favorite things to do, when the ghosts and ghouls frequent your local Target aisle, is check out the local haunts. Here in Los Angeles, you have many horror events to choose from. The beauty of Halloween however, is that most cities and towns across America all have a few choice spots to get creeped out at. As a service to all our readers, please leave suggestions in the comment section below that may lead to haunting holiday discoveries for others
The Los Angeles Haunted Hayride in Griffith Park is one such place. Strangely, I had never been before. However, I’d heard it was a must if you are in the Los Angeles area.

Autumn and horror naturally pair well together. The cooling weather, changing leaves, pumpkin patches, and, of course, Halloween ensure that, for the horror fan, it’s difficult to separate the two. This week’s streaming picks are dedicated to horror movies that embrace an Autumnal atmosphere, with many set around Halloween proper.
These picks leave off some of the more prominent Fall horror movies, like Sleepy Hollow (Max) or The Blair Witch Project (Paramount+), to pad your watchlists with less obvious choices.
Here’s where you can stream them this week.

In the wake of scaring up $66 million worldwide earlier this year, the 20th Century Studios horror movie The Boogeyman is now headed home in time for Halloween.
Be the first to watch Stephen King adaptation The Boogeyman at home when it arrives exclusively on Digital August 29 and on Blu-ray and DVD October 10, 2023.
While you wait, Bloody Disgusting has been provided with an exclusive clip from the film’s bonus features package today, featuring insights from director Rob Savage (Host).
“This creature has to remain scary and slightly intangible by the end of the movie or else we’ve kind of ruined the Boogeyman,” Savage explains. “We needed to find a design that was scary and familiar but also had an element about it that was slightly unknowable but spoke to something existentially terrifying.”

Robert Englund’s most famous role as Freddy Krueger in the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise only scratches the surface of his prolific career. With over 150 credits in film and television and counting, the actor remains a heavyweight in the horror space. That includes cameo appearances, where Englund’s history and experience bring welcome depth to each part, no matter how fleeting.
Some Robert Englund cameos offer a wry wink to horror fans, while others intentionally play on audience expectations based on his more prominent roles.

Rob Savage’s The Boogeyman terrified King himself who even labelled it “extraordinary”. While the original story has been reimagined many times, often in undelightful manners, Rob’s version seems to be taking the world by storm. In the first 5-10 minutes of the film, it feels like we’re following Stephen’s story pretty accurately but then the tables take a very distinct turn. Of course, if the film had to be based solely on the source material, it would’ve been a really short one! The popcorn horror has a significant amount of psychological elements that make it more emotionally effective. This is definitely a big step forward for Rob, who began his impressive career with a found footage horror called Host. With a massive expansion of the original story, writers Scott Beck, Bryan Woods, and Mark Heyman along with Rob switch the lens to the psychiatrist Will Harper...

Step into the shadows in The Boogeyman (2023), a spine-tingling horror film based on the short story by the legendary Stephen King. Directed by Rob Savage and written by Scott Beck, Bryan Woods, and Mark Heyman, this film takes audiences on a chilling journey that explores the depths of fear and the resilience of the human spirit.
The Boogeyman follows troubled high school student Sadie Harper, and her precocious younger sister, Sawyer, still grappling with the recent loss of their mother. Their father, Will, a therapist dealing with his own intense pain, provides little comfort and closes himself off to the girls emotionally. Little do they know that their lives are about to take a sinister turn when a desperate patient seeking help unwittingly unleashes a terrifying supernatural entity that just so happens to prey on families and feed on their suffering. Talk about unlucky.

The following contains major spoilers for The Boogeyman (2023).
Early Stephen King short stories have a particular kind of grit. Often called Vintage King, the twenty dark tales in the author’s first collection, Night Shift, vary wildly in subject matter and tone but nearly all convey a distinct nihilism and end with a shocking stinger or devastating twist. When adapting these nasty nightmares for the big screen, many directors amplify the unapologetic cruelty while others take the edge off of bleak endings by adding a more uplifting tone or reversing the cynical message with an outright happy ending.
Rob Savage’s 2023 adaptation of “The Boogeyman” falls somewhere in between. Working from a script co-written by Scott Beck, Bryan Woods, and Mark Heyman, Savage maintains the story’s morbid tone by expanding the mental health element of the narrative, but presents a more hopeful ending by centering the story on the...

There’s something about the names Stephen King gives to characters that instantly evokes those fat, splintered-spine favourites from his back catalogue and my own tween years; with cover art so disturbing they would have to be laid to rest face down before I could go to sleep. The Boogeyman, adapted from his 1973 short story, has a Lester Billings. Lester Billings. Absolutely classic King.
And poor Lester (David Dastmalchian) is having an appropriately macabre time of it. His children each died horribly, their parents powerless to defend them, and the family home has been staked out by the being that claimed their lives. When Lester stumbles into the Thatchers’ house to unburden himself to therapist dad Will (Chris Messina) he is hardly conscious of the dark entity he has brought to their door. He simply wants to share his story. To let go.

Rob Savage's new horror film "The Boogeyman" is, like many recent horror films, all about grief. The central family of the film consists of a father (Chris Messina), his teenage daughter Sadie (Sophie Thatcher), and the eight-year-old Sawyer (Vivien Lyra Blair). Hanging over them all is the death of the family's matriarch, a beloved wife and mother who left an emotional hole in the house, as well as a great deal of clothes and painting supplies. Every day is grey and sad, and the family is trying to pick up the pieces as best they can. Into the bleakness comes a symbolic monster, the titular Boogeyman, who creeps out of closets and stalks humans from the shadows. The monster can imitate the voices of loved ones, and can seemingly slip through shadowy schisms in the space-time continuum, ceasing to exist when the lights are flicked on.

As one of the most prolific horror writers of all time, Stephen King has provided a veritable treasure trove of material for filmmakers looking to take a stab at the genre. For example, Rob Savage, who's best known for his Zoom-based horror movie "Host," drew on King's 1973 short story "The Boogeyman" for his 2023 feature; fans of Savage's breakout feature will recognize a meaningful Easter egg in the director's King adaptation.
Like many of the films made in this era of so-called "elevated horror," the monster in "The Boogeyman" serves as a metaphor for psychic pain. In this case, the title creature is a manifestation of grief, preying on those who have been touched by loss or sadness. In the film, "Yellowjackets" star Sophie Thatcher plays Sadie Harper, a teenage girl who has just lost her mother in a car accident. In this case, the title creature is a manifestation of grief, preying on those who have been touched by loss or sadness. In the film, "Yellowjackets" star Sophie Thatcher plays Sadie Harper, a teenage girl who has just lost her mother in a car accident. Her father (Chris Messina) is a therapist, but refuses to talk about what's happened,...

Might want to check your closet door and under the bed. “The Boogeyman” is here.
The new supernatural thriller, based on the short story by Stephen King, stars Sophie Thatcher as a young woman whose mother was recently killed in a car accident. After the accident a strange man comes to see her father (Chris Messina) with a story about the Boogeyman, an evil entity that murdered his children. Soon enough this same entity is after the recently bereaved family. But who – or what? – can stop it?
TheWrap spoke with Thatcher (the week before that episode of “Yellowjackets” aired) about her role as young Regan in the “Exorcist” TV show, watching “The Shining” for the first time and her process for acting really, really scared.
You’ve been in the orbit of horror movies for a while. You played young Regan in the “Exorcist” TV show right? Was that your first role?...

Stephen King’s short story The Boogeyman is about a man named Lester Billings, who visits a psychiatrist after his children have been killed by the title character. Director Rob Savage’s version of The Boogeyman, which is in theatres now, goes far beyond the story King wrote – but Lester Billings is in the movie, played by David Dastmalchian (The Suicide Squad). During an interview with Collider, Dastmalchian revealed that he initially turned down the offer to play Billings because he didn’t want to go as far into the darkness as the character required.
Dastmalchian said, “I read (the script) and I said, ‘Absolutely not. No interest in portraying Lester Billings. I don’t care to go there. I’ve done too much stuff in the darkness. I need a break, and I can’t do it.’ And then (producer Dan Cohen) is many things, a gifted producer, a wonderful human being,...

The new horror film "The Boogeyman" is another in a long line of terrifying movies based on Stephen King's writing. The original short story was published in 1973 in Cavalier magazine and was included in the short story collection "Night Shift" in 1978. The movie, directed by Rob Savage, follows high schooler Sadie Harper ("Yellowjackets" star Sophie Thatcher) and her little sister, Sawyer ("Obi-Wan Kenobi"'s Vivien Lyra Blair), as they reel from the death of their mother in a car accident. Their father Will (Chris Messina), a therapist, treats a clearly disturbed man whose children recently died. And though Will doesn't believe him, those kids (and eventually the man) were killed by the mystical being the Boogeyman, who settles into the Harpers's home next.
As Sawyer is tormented by the monster, Sadie struggles to understand what's going on with her sister until she sees the Boogeyman herself. When Sawyer is...

This weekend, Rob Savage (Host) brings his adaptation of Stephen King’s The Boogeyman to theaters. But for those of us who were of horror-watching age eighteen years ago (that hurts to say out loud), there was 2005’s Boogeyman… a horror film that launched an entire trilogy.
That first movie was successful enough to spawn both Boogeyman 2 and Boogeyman 3, though both sequels went straight to video here in the States. So, in honor of the upcoming The Boogeyman, let us take a look back at the Boogeymen of old. Even if they are completely and utterly unrelated in every way possible… and we cannot stress that enough.
Boogeyman (2005)
Directed by Stephen Kay, Boogeyman came to us at an interesting time for the horror genre. “Torture porn” was in full swing with Wolf Creek, Saw and Hostel all releasing. PG-13 horror competition included The Grudge, The Skeleton Key and The Exorcism of Emily Rose.

Up next from Host and Dashcam director Rob Savage is The Boogeyman, based on Stephen King’s 1973 short story, which is now playing in theaters this weekend.
Savage spoke with Bloody Disgusting about making a studio film on the heels of two smaller-scale found footage horror features, while also discussing his lessons learned from those experiences, as well as his approach to designing a PG-13, boundary-testing creature.
“I’d never really thought of myself as being somebody who would direct found footage movies, and then I ended up doing two back-to-back,” Savage says of transitioning from Dashcam to The Boogeyman. “But it took a little bit of a jolt to get back into that mode of storytelling. I was amazed by how much I was able to take from working on Host and Dashcam and work into this movie. Both of those movies were totally improvised.”

In early 2022, Sophie Thatcher was everywhere. The Chicago native broke out as teenage Natalie on Yellowjackets, the buzziest new cable show at the time, and it led straight into a recurring role on The Book of Boba Fett. She was also the talk of Twitter since she reminded so many people of Juliette Lewis, circa Natural Born Killers, who she happened to be sharing a role with on Yellowjackets. Well, the creative team behind 21 Laps and 20th Century’s The Boogeyman took notice and offered Thatcher her first lead role in a studio film.
“I didn’t have to go through so many processes and have to prove myself again and always just prepare myself for rejection, which is totally a part of the job and a part of life. So this felt very refreshing to have people that believed in me and trusted me,” Thatcher tells The Hollywood Reporter.

The new horror movie "The Boogeyman" adapts both a Stephen King short story and a centuries-old piece of folklore. You've probably heard about the boogeyman before - or maybe it was even something that frightened you as a child - but how much do you know about the origins of this common monster story?
What Is the Boogeyman?
The boogeyman is a generic monster, used throughout history, as a means of frightening children against misbehavior. There are plenty of other names that the creature has been given, including "bogeyman," "bugabear," or "bugaboo." Different cultures, and even different groups or families within a given culture, have different conceptions of the boogeyman. In general, though, the idea is that it is a monster that will come after individuals who misbehave and frighten them into behaving better.

In 2005, screenwriter and author Blake Snyder coined the term “save the cat” when referring to the beat in a story—usually very early on—in which a protagonist does something so admirable it instantly engenders audience sympathy and trust. Think Aladdin giving his only loaf of bread to two street urchins in the Disney movie, or Indiana Jones saving Alfred Molina from spiders, even after Molina’s buddy already betrayed him moments earlier, in Raiders of the Lost Ark.
While watching the opening moments of The Boogeyman, this concept popped into my head, as did the realization that there’s a reversal of it. Consider: Audiences as of late have been inundated with horror movies which want you to know immediately they’re playing for keeps, and their titular monster is the genuine thing. Hence the scene where a baby is stolen and sacrificed to the Devil in The Witch...

Like many Stephen King fans, I found the Master of Horror as a child. I grew up staring in awe at my dad’s paperbacks lining a high shelf and pondered the haunting images emblazoned on their spines: a hand covered with eyes and bandages (Night Shift); green claws poking through a sewer grate (It); a crow man fighting a man I assumed to be Luke Skywalker (The Stand). When I finally gathered the courage to read one, I chose Night Shift. At just 326 pages, it seemed more manageable than the 1,000 page epics I would later fall in love with. The table of contents included evocative but familiar titles like “Sometimes They Come Back” and “Children of the Corn” and most of the stories were short, clocking in around 10-20 pages. How scary could they be?
I would soon learn that King saves some of his darkest work for short story collections.

The Boogeyman, directed by Rob Savage (Host), is out in theaters this Friday, June 2, 2023. The adaptation of Stephen King’s short story stars Sophie Thatcher (“Yellowjackets”) as Sadie Harper, a grieving teen at the center of the supernatural horror.
Sadie begins the story still reeling from her mother’s unexpected passing, compounded by her father’s emotional detachment and her younger sister’s extreme phobia of the dark. All provide fertile ground for terror when the Boogeyman permeates their home.
Ahead of The Boogeyman’s release, Bloody Disgusting spoke with Sophie Thatcher about her first trip into the Stephen King Universe. Above all, it was the character that drew Thatcher to the role. She explains of Sadie, “For me, as an actor at this point in my career, I’m just trying to find roles that I think will be challenging and that are layered and have something to overcome.

The Bloody Disgusting-powered Screambox is home to a variety of unique horror content, from originals and exclusives to cult classics and documentaries. With such a rapidly-growing library, there are many hidden gems waiting to be discovered.
Here are five recommendations you can stream on Screambox right now.
The Barn
Before The Barn Part II streams exclusively on Screambox on May 26, catch up on the 2016 original. The Barn stands out among the glut of ’80s slasher throwbacks because it’s not satirical or a send-up; the unapologetic love letter approaches the well-trodden material with a refreshing earnestness. Capturing not only the style but also the spirit of his influences, writer-director Justin M. Seaman taps directly into horror fans’ nostalgia while introducing an imaginative mythology with ample heart in a charming package.

One day in the distant future, horror fans are going to have a rude awakening. Eventually, every single idea that Stephen King has ever committed to the page is going to be adapted into a film or television series; it's inevitable. But until that sad day comes, let's all continue to focus on what spooky King property is coming down the pipeline next.

Perhaps the most classic monster in all of humanity is the Boogeyman. Taking various forms in pop culture, the Boogeyman is just the name given to almost anything that goes bump in the night. The thing that comes after little children when the lights come out. The monster under the bed. Well, the mythology grows in the upcoming film, “The Boogeyman.”
Based on a short story by Stephen King, “The Boogeyman” tells the story of a young girl and her older sister, who are both haunted by the titular villain.

As an actor, Chris Pine has a particular talent. When it comes to playing dazzling, cocksure characters, Pine is a natural. He's played his share of cads and scoundrels, but he never comes across as unlikeable or villainous. It certainly helps that Pine is possessed of movie matinee idol good looks, allowing his charming smiles to inform the characters he plays.
In Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley's new film "Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves," Pine plays Edgin Darvis, a former bard in a fantasy kingdom who turns to thievery to survive. He is raising a teenage daughter named Kira (Chloe Coleman) and, following the death of his wife, forms a coalition of thieves to steal from the rich.
At the beginning of the film, Edgin is in prison with his best friend Holga Kilgore (Michelle Rodriguez) after a heist of theirs went awry. The two have an elaborate ploy to escape,...

For better or worse, no franchise would be complete without an origin story. But we've never really needed one for the Boogeyman himself, John Wick (Keanu Reeves). A dedicated husband and legendary assassin of very few words, the mystery is part of his stoic appeal. So instead of delving deeper into his life, it's time to learn more about the second most important character in the "John Wick" saga ... "The Continental."
As introduced in the film franchise, The Continental is the kind of unforgettable, hidden-in-plain-sight revelation that'll make you think twice the next time you enter a hotel. To the average visitor, it appears to be a chain of luxury hotels scattered worldwide. But in reality, it's a neutral sanctuary for hitmen, assassins, and other members of the criminal underworld. To kill on Continental grounds is forbidden and near impossible to get away with. Weapons and ammunition are supplied by sommeliers,...

Massive spoilers for "John Wick: Chapter 4" follow.
Throughout "John Wick: Chapter 4," both friend and foe ask John (Keanu Reeves) what he thinks the ending to his story is. His enemies are like a Hydra, Winston (Ian McShane) declares, and if he keeps chopping off heads, more will appear. That's why John seeks a duel with the Marquis de Gramont (Bill Skarsgård) so that he can permanently get the High Table off his back. John wins the duel, but it turns out the only freedom he can get is in death; Winston, the Bowery King (Laurence Fishburne), and John's dog show up for the funeral.
Now, the tone of the ending feels definitive, but the execution leaves some leeway. After remembering his wife Helen (Bridget Moynahan), John collapses in a wide shot. Cue a cross-dissolve to New York City, then cut to his gravestone. It seems hard to believe John Wick...

It almost seems impossible to believe now, but when the first "John Wick" came out, much of its appeal lay in its simplicity. It has been a full four years since Keanu Reeves graced the silver screen as John Wick, the expert assassin known to others in his circle as the Boogeyman. Luckily, Lionsgate finally got through the pandemic of it all, as well as a major production, to bring us "John Wick: Chapter 4," which ranks as the biggest entry in the series to date in just about every way. It had the biggest budget ($100 million), has arguably the most impressive cast, and clocks in at nearly three hours in length. It's a huge movie.

This article contains John Wick: Chapter 4 spoilers. The spoiler-free review is here.
They actually killed John Wick. The Baba Yaga. The Boogeyman. Death Made Flesh has now at last himself crossed over. Apparently. That’s certainly what we’re led to believe before the ending credits of Chad Stahelski‘s John Wick: Chapter 4 roll, with Keanu Reeves’ preternaturally bespoke, god tier assassin taking a bullet somewhere in the guts while dueling old frenemy Caine (Donnie Yen) for his freedom.
Admittedly, we don’t see someone stand over Wick’s body and confirm there’s no pulse. He just lies down, and then there is a gravestone. Make of that what you will, but for patrons who became misty-eyed over the loss of Jardani Jovonovich (he really did have a lot of nicknames!) and then left when the credits rolled, we have good news: While John may have finally been reunited...

Aside from the impeccably well-dressed, taciturn, dog-loving master assassin who happens to be the titular protagonist, the “John Wick” franchise has an assortment of characters ranging through different shades of black and gray. Part of the intrigue of the overarching narrative of the franchise is expounded by the interaction between these recurring characters, some of whom have proven to be trustworthy allies of John while others have their own ulterior motives. WWE 2K23 features quite a few improvements to the franchise formula that will certainly be welcomed by wrestling game fans everywhere. Of course, some things never change, which means that WWE 2K23 still makes you unlock quite a few wrestlers via gameplay accomplishments and by spending both real and virtual currency.
The very good news is that WWE 2K23 makes the various unlock processes fairly painless. The problem is that the game doesn’t always do a great job of telling you exactly how to unlock those wrestlers or the best way to go about acquiring all of them. Hopefully, we can help ease that part of the unlock system just a bit.

Making a movie requires a lot of time, effort, and talent. But more importantly, making a movie requires a lot of money. No filmmaker wants their movie to flop, but none more so than studios whose very existence depends on their releases putting butts in seats. While studios have always put their bets on tentpole movies to produce good profit margins, because of the popularity of superheroes and other big-budget franchises, it seems that studios are putting less focus on smaller films that would ensure they wouldn't suffer too much due to their modest budgets (even if they failed). As budgets have gotten bigger, so too has the pressure for these films to not only break even but to break box office records.
Filmmakers face serious career problems when their movies flop with audiences, as a failure or, worse, a string of failures, could lead to a dream project being squashed.

Scary things lurking under kids' beds have been horror fodder for as long as there have been, well, kids and beds. Better be careful, or the Boogeyman will get you!
If you ask kids what they’re most afraid of, they’ll probably all say “The Boogeyman,” which is kind of a generic term you can use for any scary figure. Jason Vorhees and Freddy Krueger are Boogeymen of some form or another. Stephen King himself made up his own version of The Boogeyman in his famous short story of the same name, which was part of his iconic collection of short stories, Night Shift. This short story is getting a feature-length movie adaptation from 20th Century Studios and Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps, best known for producing Stranger Things.
The Boogeyman film has been given a prime June 2 release date from 20th Century Studios, and the fact that they’re going exclusively theatrical for this one shows they must have faith in how it turned out. The horror genre has been good for them lately,...
