Despite its actors dominating recent awards shows like the Emmys, Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards, “Succession” ended its run at Saturday’s SAG Awards having never won an individual trophy. (See the SAG winner’s list.) Four of its actors were nominated for this fourth and final season: Sarah Snook (as Shiv Roy) for best drama actress, and Brian Cox (as Logan Roy), Kieran Culkin (as Roman Roy) and Matthew Macfadyen (as Tom Wambsgans) for best drama actor. But they ended up losing to Elizabeth Debicki ( as Princess Diana) of “The Crown” and Pedro Pascal (as Joel) on “The Last of Us,” respectively. Not to be outdone, the “Succession” cast still did win the drama ensemble prize for the second time at the end of the night.

“Succession” wasn’t even nominated at the Screen Actors Guild Awards until its third season when it got five nominations. The HBO hit is predicted to earn five nominations again for its fourth and final season and is the frontrunner in all three drama categories, ensemble, actor and actress. Such was the case last time and it only won one award, ensemble. But with the show over and bigger than ever, can “Succession” pull off a rare drama sweep?
There have only been five drama sweeps in the SAG Awards’ 29-year history, accomplished by three shows. The first to do was “ER” in 1998, which earned individual trophies for Anthony Edwards and Julianna Margulies. “The Sopranos” achieved it for its first season in 2000 and its last season in 2008, with James Gandolfini and Edie Falco taking the actor and actress prizes, respectively, both times. “The West Wing” also pulled off double sweeps...

It looks like Harry Styles and Taylor Russell may have a new romance on their hands. The pair were spotted getting coffee in London on Sept. 24, per People, adding fuel to relationship rumors that have been swirling since the two were first spotted in June.
Before Russell, Styles, 29, was most recently linked to model Emily Ratajkowski. In late March, the two were seen kissing in Japan but they never commented on the connection. Before that, Styles dated Olivia Wilde from the fall of 2020 until their split was reported in November 2022. Meanwhile, Russell, 29, doesn't have much of a public dating history, though some fans thought she was dating her "Bones & All" costar Timothée Chalamet last fall.
Styles, who recently wrapped his Love on Tour, began touring his 2019 album "Fine Line" in 2021 (those dates were delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic). He then released his third album "Harry's House" in May 2022 and began touring again.

If you’re behind on your peak TV watching, consider this your spoiler warning. It’s been nearly a year since Julia Garner collected her third and final Emmy for “Ozark,” which made her the seventh comedy or drama series regular to snag a TV academy prize for a season in which her character died. Nominations of this kind have become more common in recent years, and it’s possible that over 15% of the 2023 lead and supporting continuing series contenders will fit into the group.
Gold Derby’s Emmy nominations odds currently indicate that eight actors whose comedic or dramatic characters met their demise within the last year could feasibly earn bids, as all of them are ranked no lower than 12th place in their respective races. This does not include characters like Bunny Folger or John Paul Williams who died prior to the starts of their shows’ latest seasons but still appear in flashbacks.

Casting continues to heat up for Hope, a new survival thriller from Korean director Na Hong-Jin (The Wailing).
Deadline reports that “Squid Game” star Jung Ho-yeon will join previously announced cast members Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander.
The outlet says, “The largely Korean-language film will follow the residents of Hopo Port, where a mysterious discovery is made on the outskirts of the remote harbor town. Before long, the residents find themselves in a desperate fight for survival against something they have never encountered before.”
What’s the mysterious discovery? If The Wailing is any indication, it’ll likely get very intense.
Jung Ho-yeon, also known as Hoyeon, is a South Korean model and an actress who made her acting debut on Netflix’s popular “Squid Game” series as the breakout character Kang Sae-byeok. Her portrayal earned the actor a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series.

“Everything Everywhere All at Once” star Michelle Yeoh has made history with her win for best performance by a female actor in a leading role at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, becoming the first Asian woman to win a leading film acting award.
“I think if I speak my heart will explode,” an emotional Yeoh said on stage while accepting her award. “SAG- AFTRA, to get this from you who understand what it is to get here… everyone of you know the journey, the roller coaster ride, the ups and downs. But most importantly we never give up. I thank you… This is not just for me, this is for every little girl who looks like me.”
The actress then paused, turning away from the podium to compose herself but eventually relenting with an excited litany of curses screaming “shit” and “fuck” to an elated crowd. “Thank you for giving...

At the Screen Actors Guild Awards, lead performances usually dominate the TV categories. But the tide has been turning over in the drama actress race, where in the past two years, the guild has rewarded two different featured players — Gillian Anderson (“The Crown”) and Jung Ho-yeon (“Squid Game”) — who both competed at other awards shows in supporting. If the trophy this year goes to another supporting performer, as it seems likely to do, those three consecutive victories will be a first in this category in the history of the ceremony.
That supporting performer is, of course, Jennifer Coolidge from “The White Lotus: Sicily,” who has a commanding lead in our current combined odds. She is out front of our No. 2, Zendaya (“Euphoria”), by almost 1,000 predictors, even though Zendaya just took home her second Best Drama Actress Emmy and competes at SAG for the very first time. Since 1996, the record for youngest Best TV Drama Actress SAG Award winner has been held by Gillian Anderson, who was 27 when she collected her first of two consecutive trophies for “The X-Files.” Over the years, her title has stood intact against several would-be usurpers, including Emma Corrin (25), her costar from “The Crown” who she herself defeated in 2021. Now, one year after Jung Ho-yeon (“Squid Game”) came within 52 days of lowering the bar, Anderson could lose her position to someone who wasn’t even born at the time of her 1996 triumph: 26-year-old “Euphoria” star Zendaya.
All four of Zendaya’s challengers in the current drama actress race are, unlike her, also nominated in the ensemble category. Along with Elizabeth Debicki (“The Crown”), she stands as one of two total SAG Awards newcomers in the lineup. Also in the mix are Jennifer Coolidge (“The White Lotus”), who was nominated as a limited...

When Gillian Anderson was honored by the Screen Actors Guild two years ago for her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher on “The Crown,” the Netflix series became the first to ever produce three different solo SAG Award winners. Now, this trio – which includes Claire Foy (as Queen Elizabeth II) and John Lithgow (as Winston Churchill) – could grow into a quartet if Elizabeth Debicki is lauded for her fifth season performance as Princess Diana. This would also make “The Crown” the first show to produce three different recipients of the guild’s Best TV Drama Actress prize.
As a concurrent drama ensemble nominee, Debicki faces double challenges from Jennifer Coolidge (“The White Lotus”) and “Ozark” pair Julia Garner and Laura Linney. This marks Garner and Linney’s third drama actress face-off following their joint losses to Sandra Oh (“Killing Eve”) in 2019 and Anderson in 2021. As the star of “Inventing Anna,” Garner is...

Just two years have passed since Youn Yuh-jung broke new ground at the 27th Screen Actors Guild Awards by becoming the first performer of Asian descent to triumph in any individual film category. Now, the Korean Best Supporting Actress winner for “Minari” will likely be joined in this regard by “Everything Everywhere All at Once” costars Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan, who were both born to Chinese families. She would be the first Asian Best Film Actress recipient, while he would be the first Asian winner of either individual male film trophy.
Yeoh and Quan’s performances as married couple Evelyn and Waymond Wang in “Everything Everywhere All at Once” have earned them the number one spots on Gold Derby’s Best Film Actress and Supporting Actor predictions lists. Following the release of Netflix’s original Addams family-based series Wednesday, the internet has started its usual and time-honored tradition of heralding a new it-girl: 20-year-old actress Jenna Ortega. And what’s the best way to celebrate a beloved internet personality? With a meme, of course. Fans have been using the phrase “Jenna Ortega reveals” to push funny but decidedly false “facts” about the Fallout and X actress. But the meme is burying some of the most interesting (and real) information about filming Wednesday — Ortega had Covid during her now famous goth prom scene.

If you’re tired of awards shows giving the same prizes to the same contenders year after year, the 2023 Screen Actors Guild Awards will be right up your alley. Indeed, only one of last year’s nine SAG Awards TV winners is eligible to repeat their victory at the upcoming ceremony: Jean Smart (“Hacks”). The other eight television prizes went to dramas a comedy (“Ted Lasso”) and limited series that didn’t air any new episodes within the 2022 calendar year.
To recap, Smart won the Best TV Comedy Actress SAG Award last year for Season 1 of the HBO Max comedy series, as part of her wall-to-wall winning streak at every single televised awards show. She is now in the #1 spot in Gold Derby’s 2023 predictions for Season 2, with her likely competition being her “Hacks” co-star Hannah Einbinder and three ladies from “Abbott Elementary”: Quinta Brunson, Sheryl Lee Ralph and Janelle James.

Imelda Staunton looks poised to do what Olivia Colman couldn’t: Win a solo SAG Award for ‘The Crown’
The fifth season premiere of Netflix’s “The Crown” is set for November 9, and the anticipation surrounding it couldn’t be higher. For two years, viewers have been eagerly awaiting the historical drama’s depiction of the British royal family’s lives during the 1990s, especially since the show’s cast has been completely overhauled for the second time. The starring role of the recently deceased Queen Elizabeth II has been passed from Olivia Colman to Imelda Staunton, who could soon emulate Colman’s predecessor, Claire Foy, by nabbing an individual SAG Award for the part. Although Colman was unable to win the guild’s favor during her regal tenure, Staunton appears to have a more than plausible path to victory.
According to Gold Derby’s SAG Awards predictions, Staunton is comfortably in first place in the Best Drama Actress race. Included among her challengers are “Ozark” castmates and perennial...

Is there any better way to kick off a party than to have Lizzo, fresh off an Emmy win for Outstanding Reality Competition, walk into the building to the band playing her own hit “About Damn Time,” moving her to run over and christen the dancefloor?
The afterparties for the 2022 Primetime Emmys started with the Governors Gala, which happened outdoors at L.A. The 74th annual Emmy Awards turned out to be a night of few surprises, with wins playing out largely according to predictions — including TheWrap’s own Steve Pond, who guessed last week that there would be no sweeps as the top shows — “Succession,” “Ted Lasso,” “Squid Game” and “Abbott Elementary” — all duked it out for dominance.
In the end, it was HBO’s limited series “The White Lotus” that took home the most trophies, five, with three wins going to writer-director-executive-producer Mike White.
“Ted Lasso” won four Emmys, repeating its 2021 triumph in supporting actor (Brett Goldstein), lead actor (Jason Sudeikis) and comedy series — and adding directing for a comedy series (M.J. Delaney). “Succession” took home three statuettes, including Outstanding Drama Series, which it last won in 2020.

"Squid Game" star Lee Jung-Jae accepted his Emmy Award for Lead Actor in a Drama Series tonight, making the actor the first Korean performer to ever win in the category. It's been a history-making evening in general for the Netflix mega-hit, as the 14-time-nominated series also took home an award for directing in a competition that has historically left non-English-language series out in the cold.
Lee took to the stage to accept the award after Ariana DeBose excitedly shouted his name. The actor thanked God, the Academy, and Netflix before shouting out Hwang Dong-hyuk "for making realistic problems we all face come to life so creatively on the screen with a great script and amazing visuals." The series, which follows contestants who compete in a life-or-death game show for a chance to escape poverty, has gained acclaim for its cutting social commentary in addition to its thrills and action.

“Squid Game” continues to take the world by storm with star Lee Jung-jae becoming the first Asian actor to win the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
The South Korean star of Netflix’s most popular show ever collected the award in person on Sunday night.
Lee’s lead performance in the international hit action drama was nominated against Bob Odenkirk for “Better Call Saul,” Adam Scott for “Severance,” Jason Bateman for “Ozark,” and Brian Cox and Jeremy Strong from “Succession” (the latter of which was the 2020 winner for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series).
On “Squid Game,” the charismatic actor played the blundering Seong Gi-hun who, after he was unable to pay off all his debts, was kidnapped and manipulated into competing in a competition with real life or death stakes. Last competitor left standing wins a seismic cash prize.
