UK Indie Pic Sets Cast
Exclusive: Crissy Rock, Paul Barber and Kayleigh-Paige Rees will lead the cast of UK indie movie Kate & Jake. The pic is being helmed by Jack McLoughlin, his feature debut, and is based on the filmmaker’s own experiences of love and loss. It is privately funded and will shoot in the UK from January. Rees, known for her role in ITV drama Sanditon, is producing the project through her banner Raspberry Films alongside Thomas Griffiths, with Debbie Honeywood as executive producer. Rock is most recognized for her role as Maggie Conlan in the 1994 film Ladybird and is also a stand-up comedian and author. Barber is known for playing Denzil in Only Fools And Horses as well as his role as Horse in The Full Monty.

“Rocks” star Bukky Bakray will headline “Self-Charm,” a mental health themed film from writer/director Ella Greenwood.
The film will follow a young teen who is struggling with self-harm and so is recommended multiple alternatives by a therapist but each to no avail. The next suggestion she receives is to care for a plant as if it’s herself.
Greenwood’s Broken Flames Productions will produce the film. The company is building a slate of mental health based projects, including the upcoming “Faulty Roots,” Greenwood’s directorial debut with Melanie Walters (“Gavin & Stacey”) and Kayleigh-Paige Rees (“Sanditon”). Tallulah Films (“Little Miss Sumo”) is co-producing, with Karina Michel Feld as executive producer.
The cast also includes Hazel Young (“Nightmare on 34th Street”) and newcomer Agness Nyama.

‘Gavin and Stacey’ actress Melanie Walters and ‘Sandition’ actress Kayleigh-Paige Rees have joined the cast of the indie coming-of-age project ‘Faulty Roots’.
Set in Somerset, England, the movie follows two teens with different genetic conditions who are forced to form a friendship.
Dealing with mental health issues, Rees will play the lead character of Lola, a teen with depression, and Walters will play her mother Susan.
Writer/director Ella Greenwood will make her debut on the adaptation which is based on her short film.

Set in Somerset, England, the movie follows two teens with different genetic conditions who are forced to form a friendship. Rees will play the lead character of Lola, a teen with depression, and Walters, who can currently be seen in the BBC adaptation of The Snow Spider books, will play her mother Susan. Filming is set to take place next year in South West England.
