Prime Video is making a UK feature version of Mercedes Ron’s novel Culpa Mía, a year after it was adapted in Spain.
Based on the first book in Argentinian author Ron’s Culpables trilogy and produced by 42, My Fault: London will star up-and-comers Asha Banks (The Magic Flute) and Matthew Broome (The Buccaneers) as Noah and Nick. Production recently wrapped in the UK.

Nisha Ganatra, a Golden Globe winner and an Emmy nominee for her work as a director/producer on “Transparent,” has topped the list of directors working in advertising, ranked by advertising industry festival Cannes Lions. Ganatra previously won a Cannes Lions Grand Prix for Film Craft: Directing for her work on “#wombstories” for feminine hygiene brand Bodyform, known as Libresse outside the U.K. Variety spoke to Ganatra about the film.
Second in the Cannes Lions list was Markus Ahlm for Burger King’s “The Moldy Whopper,” and third was Similar But Different (Charlotte Fassler/Dani Girdwood) for Diesel’s “Enjoy Before Returning.” Fourth was Danielle Rizkallah, fifth was Karena Evans and sixth was Santi Dulce. Seven female directors are ranked in the top 10, the highest in the festival’s history.

These days, as you’ll hear from everyone from Steven Soderbergh to Jim Cummings, shooting a movie on your smartphone is a viable — and practical — option for filmmakers. It’s no wonder why: the equipment is readily available, highly mobile, and straightforward to use.
Recently, filmmakers Dani Girdwood and Charlotte Fassler (who direct under the moniker Similar but Different with production company division7) took the step of directing a commercial shoot entirely on smartphones. Because of current social distancing regulations, the duo was forced to innovate. “With the new constraints of remote shooting, we needed a strategy that would mimic our usual onset experience and equipment that would create a cinematic feel,” said Girdwood.
