Ryan Gosling’s rise and fame came from his ability to play characters across genres and shine equally. The actor, however, is trying to limit and filter out the roles he plays. Of course, lately, Gosling has been doing lighter movies, while doing fairly great with his recent movies including claiming Oscar nominations for his roles in La La Land and Barbie, fans would want to see him in intense thrillers again.

The nature of movies does have an impact on actors. Gosling recently revealed that limiting movie roles with the inherent nature of intensity in the narrative affects not only the actor but everyone surrounding him. Gosling has been turning down psychologically twisted roles, and it will certainly upset fans, but he has a good reason behind it.

Ryan Gosling thinks stunt performers are the unsung heroes of the film industry. The 43-year-old actor stars alongside Emily Blunt in 'The Fall Guy' - which is loosely based on a TV series about stunt performers - and Ryan has stressed their importance to the movie business. He told the BBC: "They dress like us, they do the dangerous things for us. They take the hits for us, they put themselves in harm's way for us."They play our characters as well, they're actors too, in the same union. But they hide their face and disappear into the shadows and everyone pretends they weren't there."The better they are at their job, the more they disappear in a way. It ends now. We're flipping the script."Ryan admires the courageous attitude of stunt performers. The actor explained: "They risk more than anyone. Their work is an art form,...

As Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt join forces on screen for the upcoming action flick The Fall Guy, their promotional efforts have also seen playful nods to their 2023 movies, which created a cultural phenomenon Barbenheimer.
And the light-hearted rivalry between the two actors appears poised to persist, at least that’s what it seems from the Barbie star’s reaction to a reporter sharing his preference for the Christopher Nolan film over the Oscar-nominated movie.

If Italian artist Marco Perego-Saldaña’s transition to film comes as a surprise, it is only to those outside his own household. “I always wanted to make a film. I’m a little obsessed. I watch one film Monday to Friday,” he says. “Sunday, actually,” corrects his wife Zoe Saldaña, with a laugh.
With the intensely dark drama The Absence of Eden starring Saldaña and Garrett Hedlund as individuals on each side of the U.S. border crisis, Perego-Saldana has put decades of artistry and independent study to use, creating a film that juxtaposes beauty with brutality. “The idea was to approach it from a sculpture perspective,” he says. “There are so many mysteries inside the picture to discover, if people pay attention.”
Deadline: Why was this a subject matter that you wanted to explore with your first feature film?

Two parallel but inevitably intersecting stories make up Italian-born director Marco Perego’s debut feature “The Absence of Eden,” a strikingly shot and superbly acted immigration drama. But for all its commendable on-screen elements, it’s the screenplay that Perego co-wrote with Rick Rapoza that falls short, traversing overly familiar and rather sordid tropes related to a divisive political issue. While the actors — led by Zoe Saldaña, who is also married to the director — give powerful portrayals that challenge the country’s anti-immigrant climate, but there’s little in the way of thematic novelty here.
New Ice Agent Shipp (Garrett Hedlund), whose estranged father often leaves voice messages he never hears, has just moved to an unnamed border town. Though Shipp’s decision to join this line of work doesn’t stem from a strong ideological stance, his partner and friend Dobbins (Chris Coy) tries to instill in him a dehumanizing “us against them” mentality.

“Essential Truths of the Lake” is the last thing most people would expect from Lav Diaz: a direct follow-up to his previous film, “When the Waves Are Gone.” It’s not a sequel, per se (this one actually comes earlier), but they are connected, with a third movie featuring the same disillusioned police detective in the works.
The Filipino filmmaker, whose pokey social critiques run anywhere from three to 11 hours, established the character of Lt. Ryan Gosling is notoriously private about his love life. The "Barbie" actor's longest public relationship to date has been with longtime partner and fellow actor Eva Mendes, with whom he shares two daughters: Esmeralda and Amada. And though the two are hardly ever seen out together, they've made it clear they have a lot of love for one another.
Back in April 2020, Mendes defended Gosling after an Instagram user accused the actor of not being there for his kids publicly. "I don't talk about Ryan and all the wonderful things he does as a father because I keep that part private," she wrote, per Us Weekly. "I feel it's best that I continue to disclose what I'm comfortable with but not involve him or my kids too much. It's not about being cagey or weird, it's just about staying private in a public space. Does that make sense? Hope so.

Hollywood star Ryan Gosling may be Greta Gerwig’s Ken, but his kids aren’t quite sure why he’d want to play the part. The actor, 42, shared that since he didn’t play with Barbies himself growing up, his kids were his main entryway into the brand. “My kids were my introduction to (Barbie)”, he said. “I think they’re confused as to why I would want to play Ken. Hollywood star Ryan Gosling says his house was filled with an “avalanche” of Barbie merchandise before he ended up playing Ken. The ‘Drive’ actor, 42, who has daughters Esmeralda, seven, and Amada, five, with his actress wife Eva Mendes, 49, is playing Barbie’s airhead boyfriend in Greta Gerwig’s new ‘Barbie’ film alongside Margot Robbie, 33, in the title role, and he said he felt he became the character as soon as he found one of his kids’ Ken dolls abandoned in their garden, reports aceshowbiz.com.
He added at the European premiere of the film at London’s Cineworld in Leicester Square,
“All things Barbie landed in my house at the same time – Barbie the doll and also the film. It was just sort of like a Barbie avalanche, I had to reckon with it. I just one day picked up a Ken doll in the backyard – and the next moment,...

“No one knows how hard I’ve tried, oh I have feelings that I can’t explain, driving me insane.

She's Barbie, and he's just Ken. Ryan Gosling is opening up about how playing Ken in the upcoming "Barbie" movie has changed him forever. At the "Barbie" world premiere on July 9, Gosling hit the red carpet in an all-pink suit. When "Entertainment Tonight" asked him about it, he said of the role's impact on his style choices, "I just like pink now."
He also told the outlet that even though his daughters haven't seen the film, they've seen "a lot of pieces" of it and helped him a lot when he was figuring out who the character would be. He and longtime partner Eva Mendes share Esmeralda, 8, and Amada, 7. "They were huge inspiration for me," he explained.
But Gosling added he might wait to show them the whole movie. "Well, it was, I think, weird enough for them that I played Ken anyway," he explained. "I might like, you know,...

Ryan Gosling is embracing the Barbie aesthetic in a big way. The handsome star rocked a Mattel-influenced pastel pink at the Barbie premiere on Sunday — along with a very special, subtle tribute to his ladylove, Eva Mendes.
Gosling donned a pink suit and white button-down while walking the pink carpet at the premiere of the long-awaited Barbie movie — held at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles on Sunday — and he spoke with Et’s Will Marfuggi about his role in the project, and his unique ensemble.
According to Gosling, the suit wasn’t a tribute to Barbie directly, but rather a product of playing Ken in the film. Gosling simply explained, “I just like pink now.”

Eva Mendes is super supportive of her partner, Ryan Gosling - and his highly anticipated role as Ken in the "Barbie" movie - but that doesn't mean you should expect to see her on the red carpet with him this summer, even as the film's press tour ramps up. Earlier this year, while chatting with fans on social media, Mendes explained that she made the decision because she wants to protect their "very private life."
Here's how it came up. On April 6, Mendes posted a clip on Instagram of their 2012 movie "The Place Beyond the Pines." She wrote in the caption, "Magic is Real. We did not meet on set. The magic started way before but here's a little magic captured on camera." She thanked the movie's director, Derek Cianfrance, for capturing the moment on film. Mendes and Gosling were first linked publicly in 2011 during filming.

Hickey wanted to know just how much the 42-year-old dad-of-two steps into the Barbie world when playing with his two daughters, Esmeralda, 8 and Amada, 7.
“Well, then, are you a good Barbie dad? Like, do you get down on the floor? Can you role-play? Because my husband had a really hard time role-playing with the Barbies. Are you good at that?” Hickey asked the Ontario-born Oscar nominee who plays Ken alongside Margot Robbie’s Barbie in the upcoming flick.

Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers for “Sanctuary,” in theaters now.
At first glance, Zachary Wigon’s new film “Sanctuary” might seem simple — it was shot in 18 days in a 1,200 square foot room with a two-person cast, after all. But within those four walls lies a complex and wildly entertaining tale full of sex, humor, dominion and desire.
The dark comedy-thriller tells the story of Rebecca, a dominatrix played by Margaret Qualley, and the complicated power dynamic she has with her client, Hal (Christopher Abbott), who is the new heir of his father’s lucrative hotel business. Because of the confidence she’s brought Hal through her sex work, Rebecca believes she’s entitled to part of his fortune. Hal disagrees.
Over the course of one long night, “Sanctuary” layers roleplay on top of reality to blur the actuality of power. The audience is constantly questioning who is really in...

Disney animation is famous for producing movies that are sweet, magical, romantic, and have uplifting happy endings that the whole family can enjoy. But if you go back to the source material they generally ignored, it turns out a lot of those childhood favorites should have had endings that were… different. Darker. Sadder. Sometimes even murder-y.

The Little Mermaid
The Little Mermaid is based on a story by 19th century Danish author Hans Christian Andersen. A lot of the details are pretty similar. A little mermaid who loves human things rescues and then falls in love with a human prince. She asks a sea witch to give her legs while sacrificing her voice to the witch in order to become human. However, the prince thinks another woman rescued him and agrees to marry her instead of the former mermaid. It is a relatively faithful adaptation for the most part.

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes have been together for more than a decade and keep their relationship extremely private. While it's unclear exactly when these two started dating, the couple were first linked back in September 2011 when they were spotted enjoying a magical date at Disneyland. Since then, Mendes and Gosling have shared a handful of sweet moments, starred in a movie together, and welcomed their two kids, daughters Esmeralda and Amada.
The couple took some time away from the spotlight but returned with new projects in 2022. In July of that year, Gosling starred alongside Chris Evans, Regé-Jean Page, and Ana de Armas in Netflix's "The Gray Man." Two months prior, Variety reported that the actor was set to lead a 2024 film adaptation of iconic '80s TV show "The Fall Guy," which has since been confirmed to also star Emily Blunt, Teresa Palmer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Hannah Waddingham, Winston Duke,...

In most versions of the classic 1831 Victor Hugo tale, The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, the female protagonist is Esmeralda, a French Romani girl who is so beautiful that every major male character in the story either wants to marry her or seduce her. (She’s also only 16 in the novel—a book from over 200 years ago). For all her kindness and compassion, Esmeralda is basically treated terribly throughout the story and finally ends up hanged for a crime she didn’t commit, just as she reunites with her long-lost birth mother.

With her large, limpid brown eyes, statuesque figure, and seductively deep voice, she was one of the world’s best-known actresses and sex symbols in the 1950s and 1960s, especially in evergreen classics like “Come September” – but Gina Lollobrigida, who passed away at 95 on Monday, made waves beyond her onscreen prowess in other fields too, and figured in the headlines long after she walked off-stage.
And she had an Indian connection too.
Termed the “Mona Lisa of the 20th Century” and “The Most Beautiful Woman in the World”, Gina Lollobrigida was also more informally called “La Lollo” – a nickname also later adopted by Indian actress Karisma Kapoor.
And while the theme of one of her most famous films continues to strike a chord with Indians of the right age and can still be heard at weddings, Gina nearly became part of Bollywood’s first attempt at an international hit.

If the rash of celebrity breakups has you down, don't worry - Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes are still going strong over a decade later. So strong, apparently, that fans are speculating that the longtime couple are married. On Nov. 15, Mendes, 48, posted an Instagram photo displaying her "de Gosling" wrist tattoo, which translates to "of Gosling" in English. In Hispanic culture, many married women use "de" to change their last name for their husbands' after marriage. Was this the actor's way of subtly confirming that she and Gosling are married?

Given how private both Mendes and Gosling, 42, are, the actor didn't elaborate further on the meaning behind the ink, but she did confirm that it wasn't a new tattoo in the comments section after her hair and makeup artist, Steeve Daviault, asked if it was real.

In August 2022, Raya from the film “Raya and the Last Dragon” was announced as the 13th official Disney Princess. Most of the group’s other dozen members have been part of the marketing brand since its launch in the early 2000s, while a few were added to the lineup in the years since. Over time, the Disney Princess criteria has shifted to be more focused on inner strength than outer beauty, and Raya just about perfectly illustrates that new ideal. Scroll through our photo gallery to find out her place on the Disney Princesses ranked list.
Originally, the Disney Princess club consisted of 10 characters: Snow White (“Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”), Cinderella (“Cinderella”), Tinker Bell (“Peter Pan”), Aurora (“Sleeping Beauty”), Ariel (“The Little Mermaid”), Belle (“Beauty and the Beast”), Jasmine (“Aladdin”), Pocahontas (“Pocahontas”), Esmeralda (“The Hunchback of Notre Dame”), and Mulan (“Mulan”). Sheila Atim marveled that the top four actors listed on the call sheet during filming of Gina Prince-Bythewood’s hot epic The Woman King “are all dark-skinned Black women.”
Counting on the fingers of one hand, Atim recited the names of her fellow stars: “Viola Davis, Lashana Lynch, Thuso Mbedu and me!”
Smiling, she said proudly, “That’s something!”
Atim continued: “A movie of this scale with a studio, with this kind of platform. It does also mean something very significant when a big studio takes us on. That says something.
“I’m so proud of everyone in this film, I’m so proud. I was there with them and saw how much everyone gave of themselves and how much we raised each other up to deliver this.”
This weekend, the TriStar release topped the U.S. box office charts with a projected 19 million opening.
